Résumé

This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different sowing depths and light intensities on the emergence and development of the monocot weed species, Urochloa decumbens and Cenchrus echinatus, under field conditions. Each species constituted an experiment, and the experimental design was completely randomized with four replicates. The treatments were arranged in a 6 x 4 factorial scheme, with six sowing depths (0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, 8.0, and 12.0 cm) associated with four solar radiation intensities (100%, 70%, 50%, and 30%) obtained through the use of shading screens. Seedling emergence capacity was evaluated daily to obtain the emergence percentage and speed index. Plant height, floral induction time, and plant dry matter at flowering were measured. Even when subjected to different solar radiation intensities, U. decumbens and C. echinatus seedlings emerged at all the sowing depths. Sowing between 2.0- and 4.0-cm depths favored the emergence of seedlings of U. decumbens and C. echinatus. However, sowing at 12-cm depth reduced the emergence of both species regardless of the solar radiation intensity. Urichloa decumbens plants grown under conditions of greater shading showed the lowest values of height and dry matter accumulation during flowering. High levels of shading facilitated only the etiolation of C. echinatus plants. Increased shading flowering time in both species compared to full sunlight.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of low soil moisture on the efficacy of applying herbicides ametryn + clomazone, sulfentrazone and tebuthiuron in pre-emergence application submitted to simulated rainfalls at different time intervals after application in control of B. pilosa, C. echinatus and U. plantaginea plants. The experiment was carried out in pots with a capacity of 2.5 L in green-house conditions and experimental design was completely randomized with four replications, arranged in a 3x5 factorial (three herbicides and five rains intervals). The herbicides clomazone + ametryn (Sinerge EC) 5.0 L commercial product (cp) ha-1, sulfentrazone (Boral 500 SC) 1.2 L cp ha-1 and tebuthiuron (combine SC) 2.0 L cp ha-1 were applied in pre-emergence and the precipitation of 20 mm were applied under de pots in five time intervals after the herbicide application (0h, 4h, 8h, 12h and 24hours). Visual evaluations of plants control that emerged plants were realized at 14 and 21 days after treatment application and the plant emergence percentage was calculated. The application of these three herbicides in dry soil then rain within 24 hours after application provided C. echinatus plants emergence, reduced B. pilosa emergency but in the end of the experiment effectively controlled these two species and U. plantaginea plants.

With the purpose to study the emergence of Cenchrus echinatus L.and Cosmos sulphureus Cav. in response to time and depth of sowing, two experiments were conducted in uncontrolled environmental conditions in the months of June and September 2009. Cenchrus echinatus L.and Cosmos sulphureus Cav seeds were sown at different depths (0, 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9 cm). The experiments were conducted in pots, with five replications of 50 seeds per pot, followed by evaluation of the emergence percentage and emergence speed index (ESI). The highest percentage of emergency and higher EVR were observed up to 5 cm depth and the species Cosmos sulphureus Cav. was more sensitive to temperature variations due to the time of sowing of the species C. equinatus
