Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BHD) is a famous prescription for treating cerebral ischemia stroke with qi deficiency and blood stasis syndrome. More than 500 pieces of papers were reported about this prescription each year, including the medicinal resources, material bases, pharmaceutical, pharmacological effects, clinical application, preparation reform and so on, which showed the prescription research was broad and profound. Due to the complex constituents of this prescription, currently the network pharmacologic topologic method is difficult to illuminate the material basic and pharmacological mechanism of BHD. This paper has systematically sorted and analyzed BHD related research work for nearly ten years, mainly summarized pharmacy, pharmacology, and toxicology, thereby to put forward the present key problems to be solved immediately for creating a constituent Chinese medicine or natural compound medicine. Meanwhile, combined with the previous researches of quantitative network chromatopharmology, compared with the present medicine-marketed molecular structure main in treatment of ischemic stroke, intends to discuses critical technical problems of the material bases, the connection affirmation of effective ingredients and targets etc, in order to find out solution strategy and to lay a foundation for further development of a new constituent Chinese medicine or natural compound medicine.

[Objective] To evaluate the clinical curative effect of a combined protocol using Chinese herbal medicine and acupuncture for chronic gastritis.[Methods] 23 patients used the Chinese medicine only(group 1)and 65 patients received the combined protocol(2).Clinical symptoms and gastroscopic findings before and after treatment were recorded and analyzed.[Results] The clinical symptoms improved greatly in 15 of the group 1,with an overall curative rate 65%,and in 62 of the group 2 with an overall curative rate 95%.The difference between the 2 groups was significant.[Conclusion] The combined use of Chinese medicine and the needle medicine is preferable to single use of Chinese medicine for chronic gastritis.

Objective: To examine effects of Platycodon grandiflorum (JG), Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fisch (GC) or the compound of JG with GC on the growth of cariogenic and periodontopathic bacteria in vitro . Methods: JG,GC and the compound were extracted with ?=65% ethanol respectively. The minimal inhibitory concentration(MIC)and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) of JG, GC or compound against S.mutans MT818, S. sobrinus 6715, P.gingivalis 381 and B.forsythus 43037 were measured by drug sensetivity test.Results: JG showed no effect on the growth of oral pathogens tested;GC inhibited S.mutans MT 8418 and S.sobrinus 6715 with MIC of 3.91 mg/ml.The compound inhibited the microorganisms with the MIC of 1.96 mg/ml against S.mutans MT8148 or S.sobrinus 6715, 3.91 mg/ml against P.gingivalis 381, 7.81 mg/ml against B.forsythus 43037 respectively.Conclusion: The compound of JG and GC has stronger inhibition and bactericidal effects on oral pathogens than the single medicine.
