This paper aims at a critical reflection on the procedural consequences made by the Brazilian Labor Reform regarding access to Labor Justice and the management of labor conflicts. First, we analyze the origin of this specialized justice and its historical evolution, whose tendency was to expand its competences. This study adopted, as methodological guidance, Marx's critical-dialectical materialism, through documentary and bibliographic research. Finally, we will list the main procedural innovations determined by the Labor Reform that made it difficult for workers to gain access to justice, thereby promoting an emptying of their jurisdictional field.

Résumé

PURPOSE: The purpose of this research was to examine the relationship between types of conflict management style, role conflict, professional autonomy and organizational commitment of hospital nurses, and to identify factors influencing organizational commitment. METHODS: Participants were 165 conveniently selected nurses from one general hospital in Gangwon province. Data were collected from March 28 to April 6, 2018 using self-report questionnaires. RESULTS: There was a significant difference in the level of professional autonomy and organizational commitment depending on the nurses' styles of conflict management. A statistically significant positive correlation between professional autonomy and organizational commitment was found, and a negative correlation between environmental barriers in role conflict and organizational commitment. Participants' professional autonomy and environmental barriers in role conflict explained 17.9% of organizational commitment. CONCLUSION: These finding indicate that professional autonomy and environmental barriers are both very important factors influencing organizational commitment. Accordingly, it is necessary to improve nurses' organizational commitment, enhance autonomy and reduce environmental barriers for nurses performing nursing roles.

Abstract This paper introduces a quantitative research addressed to analyse the relationship between school climate and conflict management strategies. The study was conducted with a sample of 348 students from public schools in Portugal. CTS (Conflict Tactic Scale), the CLES (Questionário do Clima de Escola) and a personal and academic data sheet to study variables such as gender, year of schooling, number of failures, and attendance hours. The results demonstrate that the use of nonviolent tactics (negotiation and discussion) in the interpersonal conflict management with students, impacts positively the school climate. Additionally, the results indicate the existence of statistically significant relationships between sex and nonviolent strategies, between sex and physical violence, between emotional violence and school climate (α = -11; p = .043) and between physical violence and school climate (α= -11; p=.035). The paper also indicates the implications into the school context.

Résumé

Introduction: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) are two common diseases of lower gastrointestinal symptoms and discomfort. Although research has demonstrated the influence of psychological processes on gastrointestinal functions, few studies compared the role of psychological factors in IBS and IBD disease. The present study aimed to assess the psychological factors in patients suffering from IBS and IBD. Methodology: This current cross-sectional study was done on 90 subjects with diagnosed IBD (15women, 15 men), IBS (15 women, 15 men), and 30 non-IBS/non-IBD in the Gastroenterology Department of Babol University of Medical Sciences. All subjects filled out three questionnaires; Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory-II (ROCI-II), Symptom Checklist-90-Revised (SCL-90-R), and 20-item Toronto Alexithymia Scale (TAS-20). Results: The IBS and IBD patients had higher scores in unconstructive management conflict (dominating and avoiding) ways than the controls, but did not differ from each other. Although both the IBS and IBD patients had higher alexithymia scores than control subjects, IBS patients were more alexithymic than IBD patients. Significantly, higher scores were found in patients with IBS compared to IBD for some psychiatric symptoms (depression 17.2±11.3 vs 10.7±6.8, anxiety 12.7±8.2 vs 7.5±4.5, and the total score of psychiatric symptoms 115.4±62.6 vs 83.3±44.8). Conclusion: Although both the IBS and IBD patients experienced more psychiatric symptoms, unconstructive conflict management styles, and alexithymia than controls, IBS patients had worse psychiatric and alexithymic symptoms than IBD.

Résumé

This participatory action research aimed to enhance a community's potential in strengthening sub-district well-being, a grass-root community of Northeast Thailand. Community Participation had three patterns. The first pattern-involved determining the five community commitments in which the members relied on an honest living, followed a "sufficiency economy" process, practiced local traditions, engaged in community development, and prevented their community from conflicts under the community justice system. The second participation was processed through community meetings with volunteer voting. Three workshops were arranged for volunteer training to develop instruction media for raising consciousness, distributing their knowledge, and resolving any controversies among the community members. The third participation was to advocate human rights among the community members by broadcasting via the local news tower, religious ceremonies, and career meetings. These activities helped encourage generosity among the community members, praised the respectful members , maintained traditions, developed communication, and built careers for the children, handicapped, poor, sick or elderly as well as supporting a community's proactive role in using the justice system to settle conflicts among its members.
