Résumé

Abstract Objective To investigate the relationship between the biopsychosocial environment and eating habits and behaviors that lead to the selection and consumption of certain food from the earliest stages of life. To clarify whether there is an interaction between genetic and epigenetic factors, and how they shape eating habits. Data source A narrative review based on research in PubMed and Web of Science electronic databases was carried out over the last 10 years, searching the title and summary fields using the keywords Children OR adolescents Feeding Behavior eating OR Dietary Habits OR Eating Behavior OR Eating Habits OR Children obesity. Data synthesis The generational transmission of eating habits is related to the home, community, and school environments, mainly during the first years of life, and can exert the modulation of habits during all stages of life. During childhood, the family's role in consolidating eating habits is very broad and ranges from choosing foods to prioritizing family meals, including the lifestyle. Conclusions Eating habits are transmitted from parents to children in different ways: environmental, emotional, social, and educational. In cases of obesity, a greater association of genetic influence can be observed.

Introducción: El estado nutricional, la composición corporal y los hábitos alimentarios son relevantes para la elegibilidad, entrenamiento y progresión de la carrera naval, por la influencia que tienen estos factores sobre la salud física, mental y rendimiento deportivo de los reclutas. Objetivo: Describir y evaluar el estado nutricional, la composición corporal y la conducta alimentaria de estudiantes de primer año de la Escuela de Grumetes "Alejandro Navarrete Cisterna" de Talcahuano. Métodos: Estudio no experimental de corte transversal a 781 grumetes. Se realizó evaluación antropométrica y de composición corporal por nutricionistas entrenadas, y se aplicó la Encuesta sobre Hábitos Alimentarios de autorreporte. Resultados: Edad 19,2 ± 1,47 años, 35,7% mujeres. Según el estado nutricional, se observó un mayor porcentaje de sobrepeso y obesidad en mujeres comparado con los hombres. El IMC se relacionó directamente con la composición corporal; las mujeres presentaron una media de IMC de sobrepeso con mayor porcentaje de grasa corporal y menor porcentaje de masa muscular. La conducta alimentaria se relacionó con estado nutricional significativamente, siendo los cumplimientos de: consumo de lácteos, consumo de legumbres, cena diariamente y no consumo de bebidas alcohólicas más altos en reclutas normopeso que en aquellos con sobrepeso y obesidad. Conclusión: Los grumetes presentaron mayor normopeso, menor obesidad y mejor conducta alimentaria que la población general, debido posiblemente a la preparación física y nutricional en el periodo inicial de la instrucción naval.


Introduction: Nutritional status, body composition and eating habits are relevant for eligibility, training, and naval career progression, due to the influence of these factors have on the physical and mental health and sports performance of recruits. Objective: To describe and evaluate the nutritional status, body composition and eating behavior of first-year students of the "Alejandro Navarrete Cisterna" Naval School in Talcahuano. Methods: Non-experimental cross-sectional study of 781 recruits. Anthropometric and body composition evaluation was carried out by trained nutritionists, and the self-report Eating Habits Survey was applied. Results: Age 19.2 ± 1.47 years, 35.7% women. According to nutritional status, a higher percentage of overweight and obesity was observed in women compared to men. BMI was related to body composition; women had a mean BMI of overweight with a higher percentage of body fat and a lower percentage of muscle mass. Eating behavior was significantly related to nutritional status, with compliance of: dairy consumption, legume consumption, daily dinner and non-consumption of alcoholic beverages being higher in normal weight recruits than in those with overweight and obesity. Conclusion: The naval recruits had a higher normal weight, less obesity and better eating behavior than the general population, possibly due to the physical and nutritional preparation in the initial period of naval training.

La literatura ha hecho hincapié en la centralidad que cumplen los entornos alimentarios en las elecciones alimentarias y en el estado nutricional de la población. Objetivo: identificar las percepciones de padres, madres y apoderados, profesionales de establecimientos educacionales, funcionarios municipales, y feriantes pertenecientes a la zona sur de Santiago de Chile, respecto a las barreras y limitaciones de la puesta en práctica de una alimentación saludable en el ambiente alimentario escolar. Método: se realizaron seis grupos focales agrupando a 50 actores claves vinculados a los establecimientos educacionales de Ciudad Sur utilizando una muestra no probabilística. Se aplicó un análisis de contenido mediante la técnica de codificación temática buscando relevar los universos semánticos emergentes. Resultados: se identificaron nueve barreras, o semánticas, que caracterizan limitantes a la realización de la alimentación saludable en los entornos escolares desde la perspectiva de los participantes: la familia, kioscos escolares, la salida de los establecimientos escolares, gusto, determinantes socioeconómicos, política pública, falta de conocimiento, publicidad y disponibilidad de productos sin sellos. Conclusiones: las limitaciones asociadas al ambiente alimentario doméstico tienen una representación significativamente alta (47,9%) y contienen un carácter de responsabilización individual en su enunciación. Esta cultura explicativa es opuesta a la evidencia científica y académica respecto al funcionamiento de la conducta alimentaria, y a la centralidad de los ambientes alimentarios respecto a la facilitación u obstaculización del consumo de alimentos saludables o adecuados.


Literature has emphasized on food environments centrality in food choices and nutritional status. Objective: identify social perceptions of fathers, mothers and guardians, professionals from educational establishments, municipal officials, and stallholders belonging to the southern area of Santiago de Chile, regarding limitations of healthy diet implementation on school environments. Method: six focus groups were carried out grouping 50 key actors linked to educational establishments using a non-probabilistic sample. A content analysis was applied through thematic coding technique seeking to reveal emerging semantic universes. Results: Nine barriers, or semantics, were identified characterizing limitations to healthy eating habits in school environments: family, school kiosks, leaving school establishments, taste, socioeconomic determinants, public policy, lack of knowledge, publicity, and availability of products without seals. Conclusions: limitations associated with domestic food environment have a significantly high representation (47,9%) and contain an individualized responsibility feature. This explanatory culture is opposed to scientific and academic evidence regarding the functioning of eating behavior, and the centrality of food environments facilitating or hindering healthy food consumption.

Introducción: El adolescente que ingresa a la universidad, pasa a un sistema educativo altamente exigente a nivel intelectual, emocional e incluso físico en muchos casos. En esta complicada etapa, se enfrenta a nuevas y progresivas demandas académicas, fuera de su ambiente familiar y social, esto origina estrés y cambios en su alimentación y actividad física; esto conduce a una nutrición inadecuada y aumento de factores de riesgo para desarrollo de enfermedades metabólicas, cardiovasculares y endócrinas.Objetivo: Determinar las variaciones del régimen alimentario y actividad física en estudiantes de Laboratorio Clínico de la Universidad Central del Ecuador, 2021-2022.Material y Métodos: El presente estudio analítico transversal de periodo, determinó la varia-ción del régimen alimentario y actividad física en 46 estudiantes de ambos sexos de 18 a 22 años, al iniciar y finalizar el primer año de estudios universitarios.Resultados: Los hallazgos del estudio indicaron cambios significativos en la conducta alimentaria y física de los estudiantes universitarios (p-valor <0,05). Se observó una disminución en la actividad física y en el consumo de frutas y verduras, junto con un incremento en el sedentarismo e inclinación hacia la comida no casera. Estos cambios, a futuro, tendrían un impacto negativo en la salud de los estudiantes.Conclusiones: El estudio destaca variaciones negativas significativas en los hábitos de los estudiantes en su primer año universitario, enfatizando la necesidad de implementar estrategias de intervención, con promoción de prácticas saludables para reducir el riesgo de enfermedades crónico-degenerativas en este importante grupo demográfico


Introduction: The adolescent who enters university goes on to a highly demanding educational system on an intellectual, emotional and even physical level in many cases. In this complicated stage, he faces new and progressive academic demands, outside his family and social environment, this causes stress and changes in his diet and physical activity; This leads to inadequate nutrition and increased risk factors for the development of metabolic, cardiovascular and endocrine diseases.Objective: To determine the variations in the diet and physical activity in Clinical Laboratory students of the Central University of Ecuador, 2021-2022.Material and Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study assessed changes in dietary habits and physical activity among 46 students of both sexes, 18 to 22 years old, at the beginning and end of their first university year.Results: The findings indicate significant changes in dietary and physical behavior of univer-sity students (p-value <0,05). A decrease in physical activity and consumption of fruits and vegetables will be observed, along with an increase in sedentary behavior and a preference for non-home-cooked food. These changes could adversely affect student's health as they adapt to university life.Conclusions: The study highlights negative variations in the habits of students in their first year of university, emphasizing the need to implement intervention strategies, promoting of healthy practices to reduce the risk of chronic degenerative diseases in this demographic group.

Dificuldade alimentar é todo problema que afeta negativamente o processo dos pais ou cuidadores de suprirem alimento ou nutrientes à criança. O objetivo deste trabalho foi investigar as dificuldades alimentares em pré-escolares de uma escola municipal de educação infantil de Uruguaiana/RS. O estudo foi aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa e realizado entre outubro e novembro de 2022. Foram convidadas a participar da pesquisa todos os pais ou responsáveis das crianças (n=70) que frequentavam a escola, na faixa etária de 4-5 anos. Todos receberam o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido, bem como o questionário de pesquisa. O instrumento utilizado foi a Escala Brasileira de Alimentação Infantil (EBAI), que possui 14 perguntas referentes à alimentação das crianças. Foi realizada estatística descritiva, em termos de frequência e realizada análise de variância (ANOVA) para comparações entre os sexos (p<0,05). Foram obtidas 31 respostas dos pais relativas à alimentação das crianças. Os dados revelaram que 9,68% (n=3) possuíam algum grau de dificuldade alimentar, sendo 3,33% (n=1) com grau severo e 6,45% (n=2) com grau moderado. As demais crianças (n=28) também apresentaram comportamentos relacionados às dificuldades alimentares, porém, sem pontuação suficiente para serem classificadas com dificuldade alimentar. Os comportamentos mais frequentemente descritos foram: o responsável usar distrações ou ir atrás da criança para que ela coma, tempo de a alimentação em torno de 31-60min ou mais, criança que nauseia, cospe ou vomita com algum tipo de alimento e a influência negativa da alimentação nas relações familiares. Desta forma, observou-se um baixo percentual de dificuldades alimentares na população estudada, de acordo com a literatura estudada.


Feeding difficulties are any problem that negatively affects the process of parents or caregivers providing food or nutrients to the child. The objective of this work was to investigate eating difficulties in preschool children at a municipal early childhood education school in Uruguaiana/RS. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee and carried out between October and November 2022. All parents or guardians of children (n=70) who attended school, aged 4-5 years, were invited to participate in the research. Everyone received the Free and Informed Consent Form, as well as the research questionnaire. The instrument used was the Brazilian Infant Feeding Scale (EBAI), which has 14 questions regarding children's nutrition. Descriptive statistics were performed in terms of frequency and analysis of variance (ANOVA) was performed for comparisons between sexes (p<0.05). 31 responses were obtained from parents regarding children's nutrition. The data revealed that 9.68% (n=3) had some degree of feeding difficulty, 3.33% (n=1) with a severe degree and 6.45% (n=2) with a moderate degree. The remaining children (n=28) also presented behaviors related to feeding difficulties, however, without enough scores to be classified as having feeding difficulties. The most frequently described behaviors were: the caregiver using distractions or going after the child to make them eat, feeding time around 31-60 minutes or more, child who nauseates, spits or vomits with some type of food and the negative influence of food in family relationships. Thus, a low percentage of feeding difficulties was observed in the studied population, in accordance with the literature studied.

RESUMO Objetivo Revisar a literatura de maneira sistematizada acerca da relação do impacto da prematuridade na transição das consistências alimentares em lactentes no período de introdução da alimentação complementar. Estratégia de pesquisa Foram pesquisados os bancos de dados EMBASE, Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), LIVIVO, PubMed/Medline, Scopus e Web of Science e Google Scholar, Open Grey e ProQuest Dissertations & Theses na literatura cinzenta foram pesquisados desde 10/08/2020. Critérios de seleção "PECOS": População (P): Lactentes, Exposição (E): Prematuridade, Comparação (C): Recém-nascidos a termo, Desfecho (O): Progressão de consistências alimentares em recém-nascidos prematuros com ou sem comparação, Tipos de estudos (S): Estudo de coorte; Caso-controle; Transversal. Análise dos dados A qualidade metodológica dos estudos observacionais selecionados foi avaliada usando a Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (MASTARI). Resultados Um total de 3.310 artigos foram encontrados, sendo 9 selecionados para a realização da síntese qualitativa. Nos estudos selecionados foi observada a relação entre intervenções orais invasivas e dificuldade alimentar para todas as habilidades avaliadas e quanto menor a idade gestacional, mais frequente são os comportamentos de dificuldades alimentares. Conclusão Não foi observada relação entre a prematuridade e dificuldades na progressão das consistências no período da introdução das consistências alimentares na maioria dos estudos, somente três deles demonstraram tal relação.


ABSTRACT Purpose To systematically review the literature regarding the impact of prematurity on the transition of food consistencies in infants during the introduction of complementary feeding. Research strategies Searches were conducted in the EMBASE, Latin American and Caribbean Literature in Health Sciences (LILACS), LIVIVO, PubMed/Medline, Scopus, and Web of Science databases, Google Scholar; for gray literature, searches were conducted on Open Gray, and ProQuest Dissertations & Theses databases, from August 10, 2020, onwards. Selection criteria "PECOS" was selected to determine inclusion criteria: Population (P): Infants; Exposure (E): Prematurity; Comparison (C): Full-term newborns; Outcomes (O): Progression of food consistencies in premature newborns with or without comparison; Study design (S): Cohort study, Case-control; Cross-sectional. Data analysis The methodological quality of the selected observational studies was assessed using the Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument (MASTARI). Results A total of 3,310 articles were found, of which nine were selected for qualitative synthesis. Among the selected studies, a relationship between invasive oral interventions and feeding difficulties was observed for all assessed skills, with feeding difficulties being more frequent in infants with lower gestational age. Conclusion Most studies found no significant relationship between prematurity and difficulties in the progression of food consistencies during the introduction of complementary feeding; only three studies demonstrated such a relationship.

The Brazilian Cardioprotective Nutritional Program (Balance)(f) consists of a nutritional counseling strategy aiming to prevent new cardiovascular events. This qualitative investigation is a case study of Balance aiming to understand the process of food choices related to the adherence of participants to the nutritional counseling. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants and analyzed according to thematic content analysis. Patients reported incorporating nutritional advice and how they negotiate food choices to achieve a healthy diet while maintaining the consumption of pleasurable foods, some of them recommended avoiding. The continuous tensions and conflicts between healthy and pleasurable eating which permeate patients' food choices should be addressed in nutritional counseling, enabling greater and long-lasting adherence to Balance.


O Programa Alimentar Brasileiro Cardioprotetor (Dica Br) consiste em uma estratégia de aconselhamento nutricional com o objetivo de prevenção da incidência de novos eventos cardiovasculares. Esta investigação qualitativa é um estudo de caso do Dica Br e visa compreender o processo de escolhas alimentares relacionadas à adesão dos participantes às estratégias orientadas. Aplicou-se a análise de conteúdo temática para explorar as entrevistas semiestruturadas realizadas com dez participantes. Os pacientes relataram incorporar as orientações nutricionais e como negociam suas escolhas alimentares para alcançar uma alimentação saudável mantendo o consumo de alimentos prazerosos, sendo alguns recomendados a serem evitados pelo Dica Br. As contínuas tensões e conflitos entre comer por saúde e comer por prazer que permeiam as escolhas alimentares dos pacientes devem ser abordados no aconselhamento nutricional, possibilitando maior e duradoura adesão ao Dica Br.


El Programa Alimentario Brasileño Cardioprotector (Dica Br) consiste en una estrategia de prevención de nuevos eventos cardiovasculares. Esta investigación cualitativa es un estudio de caso del Dica Br con el objetivo de comprender el proceso de elección alimentaria relacionada con la adhesión a las estrategias orientadas. Se aplicó el análisis de contenido temático para explorar las entrevistas semiestructuradas realizadas con 10 participantes. Los pacientes informaron incorporar pautas nutricionales y cómo negocian sus elecciones alimentarias para lograr una dieta saludable mientras mantienen el consumo de alimentos placenteros, algunos de los cuales se recomienda evitar. Las tensiones y conflictos continuos entre comer para la salud y comer por placer que impregnan las elecciones alimentarias deben abordarse en el asesoramiento nutricional para una mayor y duradera adherencia al Dica Br.

Objetivo: Evaluar la relación entre las prácticas parentales de alimentación, los conocimientos nutricionales de los padres y los hábitos de alimentación infantil reportados por padres de cuatro instituciones educativas del suroccidente de Colombia. Método: Estudio observacional con diseño transversal correlacional. Se analizaron los datos de 1.162 padres de niñas y niños matriculados en los grados de preescolar hasta tercero de primaria de cuatro instituciones educativas públicas, quienes contestaron cuestionarios de autoinforme. Se realizaron análisis descriptivos e inferenciales. Resultados: La dieta de las niñas y los niños se caracteriza por un consumo frecuente de alimentos ultraprocesados y un consumo de frutas y verduras menor de lo esperado. Se encontraron relaciones entre las prácticas parentales de alimentación responsivas y el consumo de alimentos saludables en los hijos, así como entre las prácticas autoritarias y permisivas con el consumo frecuente de alimentos ultraprocesados. El nivel de conocimiento nutricional de los padres no se relacionó con la dieta de las niñas y los niños; sin embargo, se encontró una relación entre las prácticas parentales responsivas, un bajo nivel de conocimientos nutricionales de los padres y una baja frecuencia de consumo de frutas y verduras en los hijos. Conclusión: La alimentación es un fenómeno complejo, e implica la interacción entre los factores individuales y contextuales; en esta medida, la promoción de hábitos saludables involucra un trabajo conjunto en los múltiples niveles de interacción. Se espera que los resultados de este estudio posibiliten la construcción de intervenciones interdisciplinares oportunas, en poblaciones de bajos y medios ingresos en el territorio observado.


Purpose: To evaluate the relationship between parental feeding practices, parental nutritional knowledge, and child feeding habits reported by parents in four educational institutions in southwestern Colombia. Method: Observational study with correlational cross-sectional design. Data were analysed from 1.162 parents of children enroled in grades from preschool to third grade from four public educational institutions. Parents answered self-report questionnaires. Descriptive and inferential analyses were performed. Results: The children's diet is characterised by frequent consumption of ultra-processed food and a lower consumption of fruits and vegetables. Relationships were found between responsive parenting practices and healthy food consumption in children, as well as between authoritarian and permissive practices with frequent consumption of ultra-processed foods. The level of nutritional knowledge of parents was not related to the children's diet; however, a relationship was found between responsive parenting practices, a low level of nutritional knowledge of parents, and a low frequency of fruit and vegetable consumption in children. Conclusion: Eating is a complex phenomenon and involves the interaction between individual and contextual factors. To this extent, the promotion of healthy habits involves joint work at multiple levels of interaction. The results of this study are expected to allow the construction of timely interdisciplinary interventions in low- and middle-income populations in the observed territory.

Las evidencias epidemiológicas ponen de manifiesto que los hábitos de vida, particularmente los dietéticos, tienen influencia directa en la calidad y expectativa de vida. La nutrición es uno de los factores claves para desarrollar cualquier actividad física o simplemente, para sentir bienestar. La evaluación nutricional en un paciente tiene un efecto directo en el tratamiento fisioterapéutico por lo que, para optimizar realmente la reparación y el proceso de su recuperación, el fisioterapeuta le brinda la orientación nutricional que requiera. Solo una ingesta adicional de nutrientes naturales no es suficiente, es necesario complementarlo con otras herramientas terapéuticas dentro de la fisioterapia. Las personas que padecen enfermedades crónicas, tienen transformaciones en la práctica alimentaria, creadas por la enfermedad de base por lo que resulta importante variar los hábitos dietéticos para lograr recuperar la salud. Es decisivo el papel del fisioterapeuta, para favorecer el apego al tratamiento nutricional de los pacientes con enfermedades no transmisibles.


Epidemiological evidence shows that life habits, particularly dietary ones, have a direct influence on quality and life expectancy. Nutrition is one of the key factors to develop any physical activity or simply to feel well-being. The nutritional evaluation in a patient has a direct effect on the physiotherapy treatment, therefore, in order to really optimize the repair and the recovery process, the physiotherapist provides the required nutritional guidance. Only an additional intake of natural nutrients is not enough, it is necessary to complement it with other therapeutic tools within physiotherapy. People suffering from chronic diseases have transformations in eating practices, created by the underlying disease, so it is important to vary dietary habits in order to regain health. The role of the physiotherapist is decisive, to promote adherence to nutritional treatment of patients with non-communicable diseases.

Résumé

Introduction. There is growing consensus globally that the consumption of ultra- processed food (UPF) can negatively affect the nutritional status of children. Objective. The present study aims to evaluate associations between the consumption of UPF and the nutritional status in a sample of Uruguayan and Brazilian preschoolers belonging to two studies: the ENDIS Study and the Pelotas 2015 Birth Cohort. Materials and methods. We conducted a cross-sectional analysis. The main outcome measure was obesity defined as BMI for age and sex ≥ +3 z-scores. The score of UPF consumption was the main exposure measured. Each positive answer of habitual intake was added up to create a UPF score ranging from zero to six or more UPF. Crude and adjusted logistic regressions were performed for the associations between UPF consumption and nutritional status in preschoolers. Results. The final sample consisted of 8,687 preschool children, 50.8% belonging to the Uruguayan study, while the remaining 49.2% belonged to the Brazilian study. Nearly 5% of the sample of young children were obese. We didn't observe a relationship between the score of UPF consumption and obesity, the odds ratio (OR) was 1.04 (95% CI, 1.00­1.09). Adjustments resulted in modest attenuation of the relationship and a lack of statistical significance. However, in children under 48 months, the score of UPF consumption was directly associated with childhood obesity. Conclusions. Results suggest that higher consumption of UPF is associated with obesity in Uruguayan and Brazilian preschool children under 4 years of age. These findings suggest that actions to reduce ultra- processed food consumption could lead to diminish obesity patterns and bring important public health benefits(AU)


Introducción. Existe creciente consenso a nivel mundial de que el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados puede afectar negativamente el estado nutricional de los niños. Objetivo. El presente estudio tiene como objetivo evaluar asociaciones entre el consumo de ultraprocesados y el estado nutricional en una muestra de preescolares uruguayos y brasileños pertenecientes a dos estudios: el Estudio ENDIS y la Cohorte de Nacimiento de Pelotas 2015. Materiales y métodos. Se realizó un análisis transversal. La principal medida de resultado fue la obesidad definida como el IMC/edad y sexo ≥ +3 puntuaciones z. La puntuación del consumo de ultraprocesados fue la principal exposición. Cada respuesta positiva de la ingesta habitual se sumó para crear una puntuación de ultraprocesados que oscilaba entre cero y seis o más. Se realizaron regresiones logísticas crudas y ajustadas. Resultados. La muestra final estuvo constituida por 8.687 niños, de los cuales el 50,8% pertenecía al estudio uruguayo, mientras que el 49,2% restante pertenecía al estudio brasileño. Casi el 5% de la muestra de niños pequeños eran obesos. No observamos relación entre la puntuación del consumo de ultraprocesados y la obesidad, el odds ratio (OR) fue de 1,04 (IC 95%, 1,00-1,09). Los ajustes dieron lugar a modesta atenuación de la relación y falta de significación estadística. Sin embargo, en menores de 48 meses la puntuación de consumo de ultraprocesados se asoció directamente con la obesidad infantil. Conclusiones. Los resultados sugieren que un mayor consumo de ultraprocesados se asocia con obesidad en prescolares uruguayos y brasileños menores de 4 años. Estos hallazgos sugieren que las acciones para reducir el consumo de alimentos ultraprocesados podrían conducir a una disminución de los patrones de obesidad y traer importantes beneficios para la salud pública(AU)

Résumé

La desnutrición como enfermedad de origen social es la expresión última de la situación de inseguridad alimentaria y nutricional de una población, al afectar principalmente a los niños. El objetivo fue analizar la prevalencia y factores relacionados con la desnutrición en la primera infancia en Colombia durante los años 2018 a 2020, mediante un estudio cuantitativo descriptivo de tipo ecológico - exploratorio, con recolección de datos retrospectivos a partir de reportes obtenidos del Sistema Integrado de Información de la Protección Social. El total de casos corresponde a 43.823 reportes, la prevalencia para los tres años fue de 1,13% principalmente en los departamentos de Guajira (n: 3.488; 3,17%) y Boyacá (n: 1.277; 1,39%), mayor número de casos presentados en el sexo masculino (n: 23.804; 54,3%), en edad entre 0 y 1 año (n: 17.099; 39,0%), pertenecientes al régimen subsidiado (n: 28.814; 65,75%) y ubicados en la cabecera municipal (n: 28.114; 64,15%). Con relación a la pertenencia étnica la mayor frecuencia se evidencia en "otras etnias" (n: 33.050; 75,42%), seguido de la etnia indígena (n: 8.348; 19,05%) y el estrato socioeconómico más representativo es el "bajo-bajo" (n: 17.620; 40,21%). Además, existe relación entre el sexo masculino y la desnutrición, comportándose como un factor de riesgo, y el vivir en centro poblado disminuye la probabilidad de presentar desnutrición. Se evidenció una frecuencia significativa de características asociadas a los determinantes sociales en salud y variables específicas relacionadas con la desnutrición.


Malnutrition as a disease of social origin is the ultimate expression of the situation of food and nutritional insecurity of a population, mainly affecting children. The objective was to analyze the prevalence and factors related to malnutrition in early childhood in Colombia during the years 2018 to 2020, through a descriptive quantitative study of an ecological-exploratory type, with retrospective data collection from reports obtained from the Integrated System of Social Protection Information. In addition, there is a relationship between the male sex and malnutrition, behaving as a risk factor, and living in a populated center decreases the probability of presenting malnutrition. A significant frequency of characteristics associated with the social determinants of health and specific variables related to malnutrition was evidenced.

Resumen La alimentación durante los primeros 1000 días de vida (desde el vientre materno hasta los dos años) son fundamentales para la salud futura de una persona. Este artículo tiene por objetivo analizar los saberes y prácticas alimentarias materno-infantiles en localidades rurales del Estado de Hidalgo en México. Estudio de corte transversal, descriptivo, observacional desde una perspectiva fenomenológica combinando técnicas cuantitativas y cualitativas en 56 participantes y 7 informantes a quienes se entrevistó. El 48% de las mujeres entrevistadas ofrecieron leche materna exclusivamente durante 4 a 6 meses, el 57% destetó después del año. La familia fue la principal fuente de información de las mujeres (91%), por encima del personal de salud (80%), quien frecuentemente da opiniones contradictorias. El 71% prefirió el uso de conocimientos de herbolaria provenientes de parteras, hijas de parteras o adultas mayores. Los saberes, tradiciones y prácticas alimentarias de las madres de menores de dos años en el Carso Huasteco hidalguense, se basan en conocimientos tradicionales permeados por el discurso del personal de salud y los medios de comunicación, así como el acceso físico y económico a los alimentos procesados y frescos.


Abstract Nutrition during the first 1000 days of life (from the womb to two years of age) is fundamental for the future health of a person. The objective of this article is to analyze maternal and child feeding knowledge and practices in rural localities of the state of Hidalgo in Mexico. A cross-sectional, descriptive, observational study was carried out from a phenomenological perspective combining quantitative and qualitative techniques in 56 participants and 7 informants who were interviewed. 48% of the women interviewed offered breast milk exclusively for 4 to 6 months, 57% weaned after one year. The family was the main source of information for the women (91%), above the health personnel (80%), who frequently gave contradictory opinions. Seventy-one percent preferred the use of herbal knowledge from midwives, daughters of midwives, or older women. The knowledge, traditions, and food practices of mothers of children under two years of age in the Carso Huasteco hidalguense are based on traditional knowledge permeated by the discourse of health personnel and the media, as well as physical and economic access to processed and fresh foods.

Resumen Este estudio evaluó la eficacia de un programa de alfabetización en medios (AM) para promover la satisfacción corporal y la alimentación saludable en adolescentes de 12 a 15 años de edad. Es un estudio cuantitativo, cuasiexperimental y longitudinal, con preprueba y postprueba. Participaron 30 mujeres adolescentes de 12-15 años de edad, asignadas aleatoriamente a una de dos condiciones: programa de AM (n = 16) y grupo control en lista de espera (n = 14). Las participantes completaron, en preprueba y postprueba, el Cuestionario de Actitudes hacia la Apariencia Física (SATAQ-3), el Cuestionario de Evitación de la Imagen Corporal (BIAQ) y el Cuestionario de Comportamiento Alimentario (CCA). Hubo una disminución en las puntuaciones obtenidas por el grupo con intervención. Las participantes reportaron comparar menos su cuerpo con relación al cuerpo de las personas que son atléticas (F = 4.17, p = .05), las participantes también consideraron, al finalizar la intervención, que las personas famosas no son una fuente importante de información sobre la moda y sobre cómo ser atractiva (F = 6.87, p = .01). Los programas de AM son herramientas socioeducativas útiles para prevenir la insatisfacción corporal y los comportamientos alimentarios de riesgo, así como para promover conductas saludables.


Abstract This study evaluated the effectiveness of a media literacy (ML) program to promote body satisfaction and healthy eating in adolescents from 12 to 15 years old. The study is quantitative, quasi-experimental and longitudinal study, with pre-test and final post-test. Participated 30 female adolescents aged from 12 to 15 years old, randomly assigned to one of two conditions: ML program (n = 16) and control group on the waiting list (n = 14), who answered the Attitudes to the Physical Appearance Questionnaire (SATAQ-3), the Body Image Avoidance Questionnaire (BIAQ) and the Eating Behavior Questionnaire (CCA). The participants reported comparing their body less with respect to the body of people who are athletic (F = 4.17, p = .05), the participants also considered, at the end of the intervention, that famous people are not an important source of information about fashion and how to be attractive (F = 6.87, p = .01). ML programs are useful socio-educational tools to prevent problems such as dissatisfaction with body image and risky eating behaviors, or to promote healthy behaviors.

Introdução: A obesidade é uma doença multifatorial, crônica e progressiva, que afeta parcelas consideráveis da população mundial e brasileira. Estudos mostram que sociedades e ambientes com maiores níveis de racismo estrutural podem desencadear maiores níveis de prevalência de obesidade nas suas populações marginalizadas. Assim, a maior vulnerabilidade das populações de etnia preta no Brasil, decorrentes do racismo estrutural e institucional instaurado, leva a maiores índices de sobrepeso e obesidade ocasionadas pela incapacidade de tais populações garantirem a segurança alimentar. Objetivo: O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a evolução da prevalência do sobrepeso e obesidade nas populações da etnia branca e preta no Brasil, avaliando hábitos alimentares com potencial de promover a obesidade. Além disso, buscou-se relacionar o agravamento do IMC populacional no Brasil com a etnia e o racismo estrutural presente na sociedade brasileira. Método: Trata-se de um estudo descritivo de cunho transversal. Foram selecionadas 12 questões padronizadas do inquérito VIGITEL realizados nos anos de 2011 a 2020. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva, e para comparação entre os grupos étnicos aplicou-se o teste T de Student. Resultados: Os resultados, de modo geral, evidenciam que indivíduos da etnia preta apresentam maior grau de IMC (Kg/m2) em comparação à etnia branca. Os dados de IMC entre as capitais brasileiras demonstram que tanto em 2011, quanto em 2020, as médias do índice avaliado foram maiores entre a população de etnia preta, apresentando 26,03 Kg/m2 e 27,07 Kg/m2 respectivamente, enquanto os indivíduos declarados brancos tiveram médias de 25,7 Kg/m2 e 26,45 Kg/m2 nos mesmos anos. O IMC médio nos anos de 2011 a 2020, de 25,99 Kg/m2para a etnia branca, e de 26,50 Kg/m2 para a etnia preta indicam sobrepeso no âmbito nacional. Ademais, o consumo médio de verduras e legumes foi inferior entre a etnia preta, a qual manifestou uma frequência alimentar maior no consumo de refrigerante ou suco artificial do que a etnia branca, apresentando, de um modo geral, uma alimentação de menor qualidade. Conclusão: O IMC médio e a prevalência de sobrepeso estão aumentando nas populações das capitais do Brasil, sendo tal aumento mais acentuado nas populações da etnia preta. Também se observou que as populações da etnia preta possuem uma alimentação de menor qualidade, quando comparado à alimentação da população de etnia branca (AU).


Introduction: Obesity is a multifactorial, chronic, and progressive disease that affects considerable portions of the world and Brazilian populations. Studies show that societies and environments with higher levels of structural racism can trigger higher levels of obesity prevalence in their marginalized populations. Thus, the greater vulnerability of populations of black ethnicity in Brazil, resulting from the structural and institutional racism established, leads to higher rates of overweight and obesity caused by the inability of such populations to guarantee food security. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the evolution of the prevalence of overweight and obesity in white and black populations in Brazil, evaluating eating habits with the potential to promote obesity. In addition, we aimed to relate the worsening of the populational BMI in Brazil with ethnicity and structural racism present in Brazilian society. Method: This investigation is a descriptive cross-sectional study. Twelve standardized questions from the VIGITEL survey were selected from 2011 to 2020. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and Student's T-test was applied to compare ethnic groups. Results: The results, in general, show that individuals of the black ethnic group have a higher degree of BMI (Kg/m2) compared to the white ethnic group. BMI (Kg/m2) data for Brazilian capitals show that both in 2011 and 2020, the averages of the evaluated index were higher among the black population, presenting 26.03 Kg/m2 and 27.07 Kg/m2, respectively, while individuals declared white had averages of 25.7 Kg/m2 and 26.45 Kg/m2 in the same years. The average BMI in 2011 to 2020, of 25.99 Kg/m2 for the white ethnicity, and of 26.50 Kg/m2 for the black ethnicity, indicates overweight at the national level. In addition, the average consumption of vegetables was lower among black people, which showed a higher food frequency in the consumption of soft drinks or artificial juice than the white people, presenting, in general, a lower quality diet. Conclusion: The average BMI and the prevalence of overweight are increasing in the populations of the capitals of Brazil, being this increase more accentuated in the populations of black ethnicity. It was also observed that the populations of black ethnicity have a lower quality in their diet compared to the diet of the white population (AU).

Introducción: Los rasgos del apetito (RA) forman parte de la conducta alimentaria de la persona, con una serie de respuestas continuas que se relaciona con la elección y consumo de alimentos y, también, con aspectos al momento en que se realiza la alimentación como son la frecuencia de las comidas, el lugar, la compañía con la que se comparten, entre otros. Estos factores pueden tener un impacto significativo en la forma en que se alimenta una persona y en su salud a largo plazo. Objetivo: Analizar la posible asociación entre la conducta alimentaria materna y la composición corporal del adolescente, de una preparatoria de la ciudad de Allende, Nuevo León, en México. Método: Se realizó un estudio cuantitativo, transversal y correlacional. El periodo del presente estudio fue de febrero a agosto de 2022. La población fue de 41 binomios (madre e hijo adolescente entre 15 y 17 años) de una preparatoria del Municipio de Allende, Nuevo León, México. Para probar la hipótesis, se utilizó el coeficiente de correlación de Spearman. Resultados : Al correr la prueba estadística se encontró que no existe una correlación significativa entre el nivel de conducta alimentaria de la madre y la composición corporal del adolescente (rs = -0,174, p = 0,277), por lo cual se rechaza la hipótesis de investigación. Conclusiones : Se encontró que la conducta alimentaria de la madre no se relaciona significativamente con la composición corporal del adolescente, de acuerdo a la muestra considerada en el presente estudio.

Introdução: Dificuldades de acesso aos alimentos e o distanciamento social desencadearam mais ansiedade, estresse e consumo de alimentos de baixo custo e ultraprocessados. Objetivo: Investigar as mudanças no comportamento alimentar e a relação deste com os aspectos socioeconômicos. Método: Estudo realizado virtualmente entre maio e junho de 2020 com 949 adultos, com questionários de dados socioeconômicos, mudanças no comportamento alimentar, frequência do consumo alimentar e o TFEQ-21. A análise foi realizada de forma descritiva e o TFEQ-21 de acordo com os escores de cada fator. A relação entre as variáveis foi analisada pelo teste de correlação de Pearson. Resultados: 63% consideraram cozinhar mais alimentos, 41% e 38% referiram maior possibilidade comer com companhia e com tranquilidade, respectivamente. Além disso, 38,6% reduziram compra de fast-food, mas 43,2% aumentaram o consumo alimentar e 41,8% o consumo de doces. Em mulheres, quanto maior o IMC, maior alimentação emocional e restrição cognitiva (p<0,001). Nestas, o comer emocional era maior se não possuíam filhos nem ensino superior (p<0,001), e a restrição era maior com a atividade física, não possuir relacionamento estável, ter filhos (p<0,001), emprego e ensino superior (p<0,05). Nos homens, o comer emocional se relacionou ao maior IMC (p<0,05) e ambas variáveis estavam relacionados à atividade física (p<0,001). Conclusão: Mudanças como cozinhar mais, reduzir fast-food, comer com tranquilidade e com companhia foram observadas comparados a antes da pandemia. Nota-se que nas mulheres há maior relação da restrição e do comer emocional com diversos aspectos do contexto social e econômico (AU).


Introduction: Difficulties in accessing food and social distancing triggered more anxiety, stress and consumption of low-cost and ultra-processed foods. Objective: To investigate changes in eating behavior and its relationship with socioeconomic aspects. Method: Study conducted virtually between May and June 2020 with 949 adults, with questionnaires on socioeconomic data, changes in eating behavior, frequency of food consumption and the TFEQ-21. The analysis was performed descriptively and the TFEQ-21 according to the scores of each factor. The relationship between the variableswas analyzed using Pearson's correlation test. Results: 63% considered cooking more food, 41% and 38% said they were more likely to eat with company and in peace, respectively. 38.6% reduced fast-food purchases, but 43.2% increased food consumption and 41.8% consumption of sweets. In women, the higher the BMI, the greater the emotional eating and cognitive restriction (p<0.001). In these, emotional eating was greater if they did not have children or higher education (p<0.001), and the restriction was greater with physical activity, not having a stable relationship, having children (p<0.001), employment and higher education (p<0.05). In men, emotional eating was related to higher BMI (p<0.05) and both variables were related to physical activity (p<0.001). Conclusion: Changes such as cooking more, reducing fast food, eating calmly and with company were observed compared to before the pandemic. It is noted that in women there is a greater relationship between restriction and emotional eating with various aspects of the social and economic context (AU).

RESUMO: Objetivo: Investigar crenças e atitudes das cuidadoras em relação à alimentação e à evolução ponderal de crianças de 5-7 anos. Método: Estudo descritivo, 218 cuidadores/crianças, realizado em oito USF de São Carlos-SP, Brasil, em 2020/2021. Analisados dados antropométricos, informações sociodemográficas, histórico de saúde/hábitos de vida e questionário de alimentação da criança. Utilizado JASP® para análise estatística, significância p<0.05. Resultados: Pontuações maiores na percepção de responsabilidade sobre a alimentação da criança (p<0.0001), e menores na percepção e preocupação com o peso da criança (p<0.0001). Correlação positiva: IMC crianças X percepção e preocupação com o peso da criança (p<0.0001); menor escolaridade X menor percepção e preocupação com o peso da criança (p=0.034). Conclusão: Este estudo possibilitou a análise das crenças/atitudes de cuidadoras em relação à alimentação/evolução ponderal de suas crianças durante a pandemia, e pode servir como referência para estudos futuros e elaboração de estratégias de educação nutricional para esta população pediátrica.


ABSTRACT Objective: To investigate the beliefs and attitudes of caregivers concerning the diet and weight development of children aged 5-7. Method: Descriptive study, 218 caregivers/ children, carried out in eight USFs in São Carlos-SP, Brazil, in 2020/2021. Anthropometric data, sociodemographic information, health history/lifestyle habits, and the child's feeding questionnaire were analyzed. JASP® was used for statistical analysis, significance p<0.05. Results: Scores were higher in the perception of responsibility for the child's diet (p<0.0001), and lower in the perception and concern about the child's weight (p<0.0001). Positive correlation: BMI children X perception and concern about the child's weight (p<0.0001); lower schooling X lower perception and concern about the child's weight (p=0.034). Conclusion: This study made it possible to analyze the beliefs/attitudes of caregivers regarding the diet/weight gain of their children during the pandemic, and can serve as a reference for future studies and the development of nutritional education strategies for this pediatric population.


RESUMEN Objetivo: Investigar las creencias y actitudes de las cuidadoras en relación con la dieta y el desarrollo del peso de los niños de 5 a 7 años. Método: Estudio descriptivo, 218 cuidadoras/niños, realizado en ocho USF de São Carlos-SP, Brasil, en 2020/2021. Se analizaron los datos antropométricos, la información sociodemográfica, los antecedentes sanitarios/hábitos de vida y el cuestionario de alimentación del niño. Para el análisis estadístico se utilizó JASP®, significancia p<0,05. Resultados: Las puntuaciones fueron más altas para la percepción de responsabilidad por la dieta del niño (p<0,0001), y más bajas para la percepción y preocupación por el peso del niño (p<0,0001). Correlación positiva: Niños con IMC X percepción y preocupación por el peso del niño (p<0,0001); menor escolarización X menor percepción y preocupación por el peso del niño (p=0,034). Conclusión: Este estudio permitió analizar las creencias/actitudes de las cuidadoras en relación con la dieta/evolución ponderal de sus hijos durante la pandemia, y puede servir de referencia para futuros estudios y el desarrollo de estrategias de educación nutricional para esta población pediátrica.

O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar a relação do ato de comer com o controle da doença e a qualidade de vida em adultos com diabetes tipo 1 (DM1). Trata-se de estudo transversal, realizado através de um questionário on-line com a versão brasileira do Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL-Brasil) e de perguntas sobre controle alimentar. Foram incluídos 103 voluntários (85,4% mulheres). Nas relações com a comida, 68,9% disseram sentir vontade de comer quando estão ansiosos, preocupados ou tensos. O escore global foi de 2,36 ± 0,75 no DQOL-Brasil, e os domínios "satisfação" e "preocupações relacionadas ao diabetes" apresentaram valores mais altos. A variável idade teve correlação negativa com o escore global do DQOL-Brasil e com os domínios "impacto", "preocupações sociais/vocacionais" e "preocupações com diabetes". Esta pesquisa demonstrou associação entre o ato de comer com o controle do DM1, o que pode prejudicar a qualidade de vida desses indivíduos.


This study aimed to analyze the relationship between eating behavior, disease control, and quality of life in adults with type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM1). This cross-sectional study was conducted using an online questionnaire based on the Brazilian version of the Diabetes Quality of Life Measure (DQOL-Brazil), comprising questions on dietary control. A total of 103 volunteers (85.4% women) were included in this study. In relation to food, 68.9% said that they felt like eating when they were anxious, worried, or tensed. The overall score was 2.36 ± 0.75 on the DQOL-Brazil, with higher scores for the domains "satisfaction" and "diabetes-related concerns." The age variable had a negative correlation with the global DQOL-Brazil score and with the domains "impact," "social/vocational concerns," and "diabetes-related concerns." This study demonstrated an association between the act of eating and DM1 control, affecting the quality of life in these individuals.

Introdução: O período pandêmico provocou inúmeras alterações, sendo a alimentação um dos contextos afetados. Objetivo: Compreender os novos arranjos e significados das práticas alimentares vivenciados durante a primeira onda da pandemia pela Covid-19 por profissionais da educação superior. Métodos: Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa e de caráter exploratório. Foram entrevistados, individualmente e de forma remota, dez profissionais do setor da educação superior de duas universidades federais do interior de Minas Gerais. As entrevistas foram analisadas por meio da Análise Temática de Bardin em conjunto com a Análise de Similitude via IRAMUTEQ. Resultados: As entrevistas permitiram a identificação de três eixos temáticos: (1) "Manejos da comida e do corpo: prazer, culpa e medo do ganho de peso", explorando os embates que se intensificaram no que tange ao corpo e às escolhas alimentares; (2) "Re-arranjos sociais, comensalidade e práticas alimentares"; e (3) "O exercício do cozinhar no confinamento: polissemias, temporalidades e gênero", discorrendo sobre o dinamismo da alimentação ao vivenciar alterações na composição domiciliar, rotina e obrigações de trabalho. Discussão: Foi possível identificar relações entre o distanciamento social, o confinamento domiciliar e as práticas alimentares individuais e coletivas. Em razão dos diferentes rearranjos sociais, estruturados pelos participantes para lidar com as restrições impostas pela pandemia, comportamentos dicotômicos emergiram, refletindo conflitos frente aos ajustes nas práticas alimentares. A relação nutriente-alimento (nutricionismo) esteve muito presente nas narrativas, influenciando pensamentos e comportamentos sobre o corpo e o bem-estar. Conclusão: Conclui-se que o contexto pandêmico gerou alterações em relação aos arranjos, representações e significados do comer e da alimentação.


Introduction: The pandemic period brought about numerous changes, with food being one of the affected elements. Objective: To understand the new arrangements and meanings of eating practices experienced during the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic by higher education professionals. Methods: This research is qualitative and exploratory. Ten professionals from the higher education sector of two federal universities in the interior of Minas Gerais were interviewed individually and remotely. The interviews were analyzed using Bardin's Thematic Analysis in conjunction with Similitude Analysis via IRAMUTEQ. Results: The interviews allowed for the identification of three thematic axes: (1) "Management of food and the body: pleasure, guilt and fear of weight gain", exploring the conflicts that intensified in regards to the body and food choices; (2) "Social rearrangements, commensality and eating practices"; and (3) "The practice of cooking in confinement: polysemy, temporality and gender", discussing the dynamism of food when experiencing changes in household composition, routine and work obligations. Discussion: It was possible to identify relationships between social distancing, home confinement and individual and collective eating practices. Due to the different social rearrangements, structured by the participants to deal with the pandemic-imposed restrictions, dichotomous behaviors emerged, reflecting conflicts in the face of adjusted eating practices. The nutrient-food relationship (nutritionism) was very present in the narratives, influencing thoughts and behaviors about the body and well-being. Conclusion: It is concluded that the pandemic context generated changes regarding the arrangements, representations and meanings of eating and food.

Diversos aspectos psicológicos estão implicados no emagrecimento, incluindo os estilos de comportamentos alimentares: Restrição Cognitiva (RC), Comer Incontrolável (CI) e Comer Emocional (CE). A Psicologia Positiva, por meio da análise de afetos positivos e negativos e das forças de caráter, pode fornecer recursos para um comportamento alimentar saudável. Este estudo analisou os afetos e as forças de caráter em diferentes estilos de comportamento alimentar de adultos que realizaram um programa de emagrecimento. A abordagem foi quantitativa e correlacional, envolvendo 50 participantes. Os instrumentos foram o Questionário sociodemográfico, o Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire, a Escala de Afetos Positivos e Negativos e a Escala de Forças de Caráter. Os resultados indicam que os participantes que experimentaram menores níveis de afetos negativos apresentaram menos CE e CI, enquanto aqueles com menores níveis de afetos positivos relataram mais episódios de CI. Quanto às forças de caráter, pessoas com mais pensamento crítico, modéstia e autorregulação relataram maior controle sobre suas escolhas alimentares. Além disso, aqueles com mais perseverança, inteligência social, esperança e espiritualidade demonstraram menor incidência de CE. E, aqueles que possuem mais perdão, apreciação do belo e esperança demonstraram menor CI. Conclui-se que o desenvolvimento de afetos positivos e de algumas forças de caráter podem favorecer comportamentos alimentares mais saudáveis


Several psychological aspects are implicated in weight loss, among them the eating behavior styles: Cognitive Restriction (CR), Uncontrollable Eating (UE), and Emotional Eating (EE). Through positive and negative affect and cha-racter strengths, Positive Psychology can present resources for healthy eating behavior. This study examined the affect and character strengths of adults who undertook a weight loss program in different eating behavior styles. The approach was quantitative and correlational, involving 50 participants. The instruments were: sociodemographic questionnaire, Three-Factor Eating Questionnaire, Positive and Negative Affects Scale, and Character Strengths Scale. People who experienced lower levels of adverse affects had less EE and UE, and those with lower levels of positive affects reported more episodes of UE. On the strengths of character, people with more critical thinking, modesty, and self-regulation said greater control over their food choices, and people with more perseverance, social intelligence, hope, and spirituality had a lower incidence of EE. Those with more forgiveness, appreciation of beauty, and hope showed less UE. We concluded that the development of positive affects and some character strengths could favor healthier eating behaviors


Varios aspectos psicológicos están implicados en la pérdida de peso, entre ellos los estilos de comportamiento alimentario: la Restricción Cognitiva (RC), la Alimentación Incontrolable (AI) y la Alimentación Emocional (AE), están implicados en la pérdida de peso. La psicología positiva, a través de los afectos positivos y negativos y las fortalezas de carácter, puede presentar recursos para una conducta alimentaria saludable. Este estudio analizó afecto y las fortalezas del carácter en diferentes estilos de conducta alimentaria de adultos que emprendieron un programa de adelgazamiento. El enfoque fue cuantitativo y correlacional, con 50 participantes. Los instrumentos fueron: cuestionario sociodemográfico, Cuestionario de Tres Factores Alimentarios, Escala de Afectos Positivos y Negativos y Escala de Fortalezas de Carácter. Aquellos que experimentaron niveles más bajos de afectos negativos tuvieron menos AE e AI y aquellos con niveles más bajos de afectos positivos informaron más episodios de AI. En cuanto a las fortalezas de carácter, las personas con pensamiento más crítico, modestia y autorregulación reportaron mayor control sobre sus elecciones alimentarias, las personas con más perseverancia, inteligencia social, esperanza y espiritualidad presentaron menor incidencia de AE. Aquellos que tienen más perdón, aprecio por la belleza y esperanza mostraron menos AI. Se concluye que el desarrollo de afectos positivos y algunas fortalezas del carácter puede favorecer conductas alimentarias más saludables
