Pensando a gerontologia no ensino fundamental / Thinking about gerontology in elementary and high school

A Gerontologia foi inserida como tema transversal a ser incorporada nos currículos de ensino fundamental no estado de São Paulo. Essa iniciativa cria possibilidades para uma melhor compreensão da sociedade brasileira, além de ser uma oportunidade de educação para o próprio envelhecimento. Este trabalho apresenta algumas sugestões de temas a serem levados às salas de aula, os quais foram propostos por coordenadoras de cursos de graduação e pós-graduação, lato e stricto sensu, em Gerontologia do estado de São Paulo.

The State of São Paulo introduced the Gerontology as cross-educational theme to be incorporated in the elementary and high school curriculum. This initiative to introduce the gerontological issues in this context means creating opportunities for understanding the Brazilian society and for stimulating aging education and reflexion. This paper presents suggestions about gerontological topics to incorporate elementary and high school curriculum, which were proposed by Gerontology undergraduate and postgraduate college coordinators.

Educação Gerontológica: breve intervenção em Centro de Convivência dia e seus impactos nos profissionais / Gerontological Education: brief intervention in a Social-Daycare Center for Seniors and their impacts over professionals

A revisão de crenças em relação à velhice, bem como a atualização de conhecimentos junto aos profissionais é científica e educacionalmente relevante. Objetivou-se com este trabalho: a) levantar dados sociodemográficos dos profissionais que compõem a equipe multiprofissional de um Centro de Convivência Dia para Idosos; b) caracterizar as crenças em relação à velhice; c) avaliar o impacto de uma Oficina de Educação Gerontológica a partir do levantamento de necessidades, demandas e temas de interesse na área gerontológica junto à equipe. Os resultados demonstraram crenças positivas, principalmente no domínio cognitivo. The revision of beliefs toward aging as well as the knowledge updating among professionals is scientifically and educationally relevant. This study has embraced the following purposes: a) to gather sociodemographic information of the professionals who comprises the multidisciplinary team of a Social-Daycare Center for seniors; b) To characterize the beliefs toward aging, c) to assess the impact of a Gerontological Education program based on the Gerontological survey of the professional’s needs, demands and issues of interest in the field of gerontology.
