Résumé

ABSTRACT: Progressive periodontal disease causes loss of supporting structures of teeth resulting in deep bony defects. In this case a report of 22-year old female patient is being presented with clinical findings of vertical bone loss in two adjacent teeth, on distal surface of 2nd upper right premolar and mesial surface of upper right 1st molar. Root canal treatment, non-surgical periodontal therapy followed by guided tissue regeneration was carried out using decalcified freeze-dried bone allograft (DFDBA) and collagen membrane. Analysis of clinical and radiographic findings showed marked reduction in pocket depth up to 12mm with hard tissue repair on 3-month, 2-year and 5- year follow ups.

Background:Flexibility is important for normal biomechanical function. Muscle tightness is caused by a decrease in the ability of the muscle to deform. Hamstring tightness leads to high risk of recurrent injury, decreases the perfor-mance in athletes, lead to post-exercise soreness and decreases coordination among athletes. Hence, the objectives of this study was to find out the prevalence and severity of the hamstring tightness among college going student. Method: In this cross sectional study 50 participants with hamstring tightness were included using purposive sam-pling. The tightness was measured by AKE test. Three measurement were taken and average of their reading was noted. Result: Analysis showed higher prevalence of hamstring tightness among college students. More students were affected with AKE angle between 30o-45o. Conclusion: Prevalence of hamstring tightness is very high in college going student of age group 18-25 years.

Endo-periodontal lesions are inflammatory conditions that affect the periodontal tissues and the dental pulp. The aim of this article is to show the importance of the classification and the diagnosis of the endo-perio lesions. From the studies reviewed, it is concluded that endo-perio lesions present a varied etiology, being of fundamental importance the knowledge of the professional as to its causative factors and its correct diagnosis. Thus, for the success and resolution of endo-perio lesions an effective clinical and radiographic evaluation will determine the correct classification and consequently the best form of treatment.

Résumé

Fibrous epulis or peripheral ossifying fibroma is a reactive non-neoplastic condition that affects the gingiva as a result of chronic irritation. A case of a 44 year old female is presented in this study with a gingival swelling related to the maxillary central incisors. The Patient reported a history of trauma ten years ago and a recent root canal treatment of tooth 21, followed by referral to a specialist with a misdiagnosis for a combined periodontic-endodontic lesion affecting the maxillary central incisors. Excisional biopsy of the lesion revealed a diagnosis of ulcerated fibrous epulis with osseous metaplasia also known as peripheral ossifying fibroma. Periodontal debridement was performed to eliminate supra and subgingival plaque and calculus as well as gingival inflammation that could have been the source of irritation. The clinical and histopathological pictures and the surgical procedures associated with management of the periodontal disease are described. The etiological factor behind the development of the gingival reactive lesion remains unknown and could be the history of trauma, the chronic irritation induced by the plaque and calculus associated with the periodontal disease or a combination of both. We endeavour to follow up the case in order to report any recurrence

Résumé

Palatoradicular groove is an anomaly which is found more frequently in upper lateral and central incisors. This condition may lead to endo-perio lesions. A 19- year- old female presented with chief complaint of swelling and pus discharge from the gums of the right side of the upper front teeth and she also complained of loose tooth and intermittent pain. On clinical examination, probing pocket depth of 10 mm, grade II mobility and extrusion of the tooth was found. A combined endo-perio treatment was performed and elimination of the groove, pain and reduction in probing pocket depth and mobility was achieved. The purpose of this case is to highlight an interdisciplinary approach towards the management of an anomaly which may affect the endodontic status of the tooth and periodontal health of the patient.

Résumé

Endodontic–periodontal lesions offer a constant challenge to the clinician for diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the teeth that are of great concern. Treatment and prognosis of endodontic–periodontal diseases vary depending on the cause and the correct diagnosis of each specific condition. This article presents successful healing of combined endo-perio lesions after non-surgical endodontic management with long term follow up.
