Résumé

Background: COVID-19 affected negatively almost every person in the world. This process has brought psychological disorders, social and economic problems at the societies especially in business sector. So this study was conducted to determine the factors related with depression, anxiety and stress levels of hairdressers during COVID-19 pandemic. Material and methods: This analytic research was conducted with 103 volunteer hairdressers who were reached by snowball sample. The data were collected with a personal data form and the DASS- 21 Scale. Results: Of the participants, 40.8% were in the 14-30 years age group, 57.3% were female, 58.3% were high school graduates. Of them, 68% were affected negatively due to the COVID-19. The COVID-19 had negative effects on the mental health status of hairdressers. The mental health of hairdressers was affected by gender, income status, chronic disease status, psychotherapy status, negative impact of COVID-19 process, daily working time and daily sleep duration significantly affect the mental health of hairdressers. Conclusion: The supporting mental health services and the adjustments can be given to small business owners, especially to hairdressers. In addition, further studies that determine of the effects of the COVID-19 on the economic and mental health of the small business owners can be useful.

Objetivos ­ Avaliar a prevalência das dermatites de contato (DC) ocupacionais, destacando os principais tipos de cosméticos indutores, o conhecimento dos participantes sobre a doença, o seu diagnóstico e tratamento em uma amostra de 378 profissionais da beleza atuantes em Goiânia, Goiás. Métodos ­ Estudo transversal descritivo, prospectivo, com abordagem quantitativa. Resultados ­ Um total de 43,9% dos participantes deste estudo declararam apresentar DC após exposição a produtos cosméticos no trabalho. Cerca de 64,0% dos participantes desta pesquisa não demonstraram conhecimento satisfatório relacionado aos principais agentes causadores diretos das DC ocupacionais. As tinturas e descolorantes capilares, produtos para alisamentos capilares e produtos para maquilagem foram os cosméticos mais relacionados com o desenvolvimento das DC ocupacionais nestes profissionais. As regiões corporais dos profissionais mais afetadas pelas lesões das DC ocupacionais foram as mãos, o couro cabeludo e a face. A partir do diagnóstico da DC 25,8% dos profissionais tiveram que mudar de atividade laboral dentro do seu segmento de trabalho. Cerca de 28,8% dos profissionais apresentaram conhecimento insatisfatório sobre as principais medidas de prevenção das DC ocupacionais. Conclusão ­ A implementação ou aprimoramento de programas preventivos primários eficazes, pelos estabelecimentos e instituições formadoras destes profissionais é primordial para a redução da prevalência das dermatites ocupacionais. O conhecimento e a conscientização sobre fatores de risco individuais pela categoria é extremamente importante, especialmente nos aprendizes, que constituem um grupo-alvo para a execução de medidas de prevenção primária


Objectives ­ To evaluate the prevalence of occupational contact dermatites (CD), highlighting the main types of inductive cosmetics, the participants' knowledge about the disease, its diagnosis and treatment in a sample of 378 beauty professionals working in Goiania, Goias. Methods ­ Descriptive, prospective cross-sectional study with a quantitative approach. Results ­ A total of 43.9% of the participants in this study reported having CD after exposure to cosmetic products at work. About 64.0% of the participants of this research did not demonstrate satisfactory knowledge related to the main direct causative agents of occupational CD. Hairdye and bleaching agents for hair, hair straighteners and make-up products were the cosmetics most associated with occupational CD in these professionals. The body regions of the professionals most affected by occupational DC injuries were the hands, scalp and face. From the diagnosis of CD 25.8% of the professionals had to change their work activity within their work segment. About 28.8% of the professionals presented unsatisfactory knowledge about the main measures of prevention of occupational DC. Conclusion ­ The implementation or improvement of effective primary prevention programs by the institutions and training institutions of these professionals is necessary to reduce the prevalence of occupational dermatitis. Knowledge and awareness of individual risk factors by category is extremely important, especially for apprentices, who are a target group for the implementation of primary prevention measures

Este estudo teve como objetivo verificar a capacidade funcional ventilatória dos profissionais cabeleireiros da cidade de Maringá, Estado do Paraná, no ano de 2005, bem como a prevalência dos distúrbios ventilatórios. A amostra da pesquisa foi constituída por 100 profissionais cabeleireiros e 30 secretários. Os primeiros foram submetidos a uma entrevista e avaliação do aparelho respiratório, seguido da espirometria; já o segundo grupo foi questionado quanto aos hábitos pessoais e submetido à espirometria. Com a metodologia utilizada, constatou-se que, dos 100 profissionais da área avaliados, 17% apresentaram algum distúrbio ventilatório, sendo 14% distúrbios ventilatórios obstrutivos e 3% distúrbios ventilatórios restritivos, ambos classificados como leve. No grupo dos secretários, 100% exibiram valores espirométricos normais, porém, 40% apresentaram implicação para a ocorrência de obstrução. Conclui-se que é alta a prevalência de distúrbios ventilatórios em cabeleireiros; contudo, sugere-se a realização de estudos longitudinais para investigação das condições de trabalho desses profissionais.


This research aimed to verify the hairdressersï ventilatory functional capacity in Maringá, State of Paraná, city in 2005 and the prevalence of the ventilatory disorders. The sample of the research was constituted by 100 hairdressers and 30 secretaries. The former was submitted to an interview and to an evaluation of the respiratory system, followed by the spirometry; the second group was interviewed about personal habits, and they were submitted to the spirometry. Results pointed that 17% of the hairdressers had some ventilatory disorder, and 14% of these were obstructive ventilatory disorder and 3% were restrictive ventilatory disorder, and both were classified as light disorders. In the secretaries group, 100% showed spirometric values into the normality standard. Based in these results it can be concluded that the ventilatory disorder happens among the hairdressers, however, new studies must be done to investigate the work conditions of these professionals.

OBJECTIVES: To determine the prevalence and related factors of work related musculoskeletal symptoms in hairdressers. METHODS: Informations on general characteristics, job strain, and musculoskeletal symptoms were obtained by a self-administered questionnaire, through adopting NIOSH instrument and JCQ(Job content questionnaire), from 267 hairdressers, between March and May, 2000. RESULTS: The symptom prevalence by NIOSH surveillance criteria in total was high as 94.4%; shoulder (61.0%), neck (59.9%), low back (53.2%), hand and wrist (41.6%), etc. In multiple logistic regression, significant factors affecting the symptoms by body region; job insecurity on neck' gender, alcohol, decision latitude on low back; alcohol on hand and wrist; smoking on thigh and knee,' smoking, decision latitude on ankle and foot; job insecurity on upper back. CONCLUSIONS: Musculoskeletal symptoms of hairdresser were highly prevalent, and associated with job strain and their health habits. This is a basic data of work related musculoskeletal disorders among hairdressers who are not the subjects of occupational health service at the present time in Korea.
