RÉSUMÉ
Objective:To explore the surgical treatment efficacy and experience of intracranial malignant melanoma (IMM).Methods:Seven patients with IMM, including 3 with primary IMM and 4 with secondary IMM, admitted to our hospital from May 2013 to June 2018, were treated with minimally invasive transcranial surgery. The tumors were removed as much as possible during the operation; according to the postoperative condition of these patients, adjuvant therapies such as follow-up or radiotherapy/chemotherapy, or/and reoperation/comprehensive treatment were provided.Results:These 7 patients eventually died; among the 3 patients with primary IMM, one had total resection, one had subtotal resection, and one had partial resection, and the postoperative survival period was 10 months, 7 months and one month, respectively; among the 4 patients with secondary IMM, three had total resection, and one had partial resection, and the postoperative survival period was 32 months, 13 months, 12 months and 5 month, respectively.Conclusion:The overall prognosis of IMM patients is poor, and surgical removal of the primary and intracranial lesions is the key to prolong survival.
RÉSUMÉ
PURPOSE: To report brain metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma presenting as homonymous hemianopia. CASE SUMMARY: A 51-year-old female with a history of hepatectomy and diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) 19 months earlier was referred to our neuro-ophthalmology clinic for evaluation due to headache and decreased visual acuity over the past several months. Best visual acuity was 20/20, and the results of all other aspects of our examination were normal except Humphrey automatic perimetry, which showed complete left homonymous hemianopia. Brain magnetic resonance imaging showed a large mass in the right occipital lobe. Craniotomy and removal of tumor were performed. HCC was confirmed by histopathologic examination. CONCLUSIONS: Metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma to the occipital lobe is extremely rare but can present as homonymous hemianopia. Therefore, clinicians should be aware of this when examining a patient with a history of HCC.

Spinal-cord astrocytomas are rare, comprising only 1% of all primary central nervous system tumors. Malignant astrocytomas grade III and IV account for only 7.5% of intramedullary spinal gliomas occurring in all age groups and for as few as 1.2% of primary intramedullary tumors in children. The frequency of primary intramedullary with intracranial metastasis is relatively rare in childhood and such case has not been reported in Korea. Here we report a case of spinal cord glioblastoma multiforme with intracranial metastasis, who showed eight segments of spinal cord (T3-T10) involvement and cerebellar vermis metastasis. Histologically, glioblastma multiforme was confirmed.

Intracranial metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma have been rarely reported, even in the Orient and Africa where this carcinoma is one of the relatively common malignancies. Hepatocellular carcinomas usually spread to regional lymph nodes around the porta hepatis via lymphatics. But venous metastasis of this cacinoma can occur via intrahepatic vein. The lungs are the most common distant metastatic sites followed by stomach, bones, and adrenals. Recently, we experienced a case of intracranial metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma associated with epidural hematoma. Although the epidural hematoma and the metastatic tumor mass were totally removed, the patient died of liver complications on the 9th day of postoperative care. The clinical and radiological details of this case are presented here with a brief review of the literature.

The authors describe two cases of unusual intracranial metastatic adenoid cystic carcinomas. A 42-year-old woman had a right parietal epidural metastatic mass, presumed hematogenous, spread from a primary tumor in the parotid gland. In second case, a 32-year-old man had a intracranial metastatic adenoid cystic carcinoma mimicking calcified psammomatous meningioma on CT scans. We present the unusual cases with a review of relevant literature and a discussion of possible pathogenesis.

A case of rare intracranial, skull and orbital metastasis is presented. A 34-year-old man was found to have mental deterioration with proptosis of the right eye and scalp sellings. The intracranial, skull and orbital tumors were verified to be hepatocelluar carcinoma and the patient died 3 days after admission. The literature of hepatoma with cranial and orbital metastasis is briefly reviewed.
