Résumé

italic>K-values of 56 batches of 7 types of povidone were measured by microfluidic rheometry and with a Ubbelohde capillary viscometer. The K-values of the two methods were tested by SPSS software and the results showed that there was no significant difference between the two methods (P > 0.05). Taking K-values measured with the Ubbelohde capillary viscometer (Ku) as the abscissa and K-values measured by microfluidic rheometry (Km) as the ordinate a linear equation was calculated: Km = 0.893 9Ku + 4.617 6, R2 = 0.986 2, with good linearity, indicating that the microfluidic rheometer method can replace the Ubbelohde capillary viscometer in determining K-values of povidone. The microfluidic rheometer method has the benefits of less sample consumption, faster determination, and is more accurate, and it can be used with high-throughput automatic acquisition, which provides a more convenient method for the determination of K-values of different types of povidone. The weight-average molecular weights (Mw) of each type of povidone were measured by gel permeation chromatography-multi angle laser light scattering (GPC-MALLS), and the relationship between Mw and Km was lgMw = -0.000 4 Km2 + 0.072 7 Km + 2.791, R2 = 0.990 1. The fitting relationship was good, and Mw could be calculated by Km by the equation.

Résumé

@#AIM:To investigate the distribution of corneal spherical aberration in age-related cataract.<p>METHODS: Retrospective study. Totally 217 cases of age related cataract(217 eyes)were collected in the Central Hospital of Kaifeng from August 2017 to August 2018. Patients were divided into 3 groups according to age: 50-60 years(63 eyes)in group Ⅰ, 61-70 years(107 eyes)in group Ⅱ, 71-80 years(47 eyes)in group Ⅲ. Pentacam anterior segment analysis was used to measure the anterior and posterior corneal K-readings. The corneal spherical aberration of anterior, posterior and total were calculated on an area of 6mm diameter by Zernike analysis and a descriptive study was used.<p>RESULTS:The Mean±SD of total corneal spherical aberration was 0.311±0.098μm for all the patients. Statically significant were found for the anterior and total corneal spherical aberration(<i>F</i>=34.434, 32.896; <i>P</i><0.05). The anterior, posterior corneal K-readings and posterior corneal spherical aberration had no correlation with age(<i>r</i>=0.040, 0.066, 0.097, <i>P</i>>0.05). The anterior and total corneal spherical aberration were positively correlated with age(<i>r</i>=0.506, 0.509, <i>P</i><0.05).<p>CONCLUSION:The total corneal spherical aberration in age-related cataract was slightly higher than that before. The anterior and total corneal spherical aberration increased with age, and then the posterior corneal spherical aberration was not.

Résumé

Age and growth studies are fundamental to successful fisheries management. Zapteryx brevirostris (Müller & Henle, 1841) is distributed off the Brazilian continental shelf and this species is assessed as "Vulnerable" in the Red List of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN). Thus, the objective of this study was to present previously unknown information about the age and growth of Z. brevirostris that can be used for its management, conservation, and fisheries. A total of 162 specimens were sampled, with total lengths (TL) varying between 35.7 cm and 56 cm. The vertebrae were embedded in resin, sectioned in cuts with 0.5 mm thickness and the growth bands of the vertebrae were read under a light microscope. In the studied area, Z. brevirostris ages were estimated from 4 to 10 years according to vertebrae patterns. The species reaches its maximum asymptotic size (Linf) around 56 cm (56 cm for females and 50.37 cm for males). This is the first estimate of age and growth for a species of the Zapteryx genus, and the results support the hypothesis that this ray requires future management conservation, particularly due to its slow growth rate and consequent susceptibility to overexploitation.(AU)

The purpose of this study is to compare, by statistical analysis, intraocular lens (IOL) powers by SRK/T formula using autorefractokeratometer-measured keratometric (K) values (SRK/T-ARK-mK), by SRK/T formula using refraction-derived K values (SRK/T-R-dK), and by refraction corrected method (RCM), in eyes treated with photorefractive keratectomy (PRK) and laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for myopia. Thirty-eight consecutive eyes of 23 patients with PRK for mild to moderate myopia and 35 consecutive eyes of 25 patients with LASIK for high myopia were followed up for more than 1 year. In the two groups, IOL powers by SRK/T-ARK-mK, by SRK/T-R-dK, and by RCM were compared by statistical analysis. In PRK group, the mean value of IOL powers by RCM was statistically higher than that obtained by the other two methods (p 0.05). However, in LASIK group, the mean values of IOL powers by RCM and by SRK/T-R-dK, which did not differ statistically (p > 0.05), were both statistically higher than that by SRK/T-ARK-mK (p < 0.05). In conclusion, there is a statistical difference in IOL powers by the methods used for IOL calculation, as there is according to the level of myopia in patients with PRK and LASIK treatment. We suggest that, in IOL power calculation in eyes with previous corneal refractive surgery, correction methods such as RCM and SRK/T-R-dK are more effective at higher levels of myopia.
