Résumé

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of Kangfuxin liquid on repairing cartilage defect model of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) in rabbits and its mechanism. METHODS: Totally 72 male New Zealand rabbits were selected and randomly divided into model control group and Kangfuxin low-dose, medium-dose, high-dose groups, with 18 rabbits in each group. A cartilage defect model of the medial femoral condyle of the right knee joint in rabbits was established by drilling after anesthesia surgery. Then the rabbits in each group were given medicine via articular cavity immediately. Kangfuxin low-dose, middle-dose and high-dose groups were given 20%, 40%, 80% Kangfuxin liquid; model control group was given constant volume of normal saline consecutively, 0.2 mL/kg, once every 3 days. At 4th, 8th, 12th week after medication, the wound repair of cartilage defect in rabbits was observed. Immediately after medication and at 4th, 8th, 12th week after medication, repaired tissue of cartilage defect in rabbits was scored histologically with Wakitani scoring standard under light microscope. At 12th week after medication, pathological changes of repaired tissue of cartilage defect in rabbits were observed by Masson staining. The levels of NO, SOD and LPO in joint fluid and PYD in urine of rabbits were detected by ELISA. RESULTS: At 4th, 8th, 12th week after medication, compared with model control group, cartilage defects in rabbits were repaired well in Kangfuxin low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups. At 4th, 8th, 12th week after medication, compared with immediately after medication and model control group at same time point, histomorphological score of repairing cartilage defect of knee joint in rabbits decreased significantly in Kangfuxin low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups (P<0.05). At 12th week after medication, compared with model control group, the histopathology degree of cartilage defect of knee joint in rabbits was significantly alleviated in Kangfuxin low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups. At 4th, 8th, 12th week after medication, compared with model control group, the levels of NO and LPO in joint fluid and PYD level in urine were decreased to different extent in Kangfuxin low-dose, medium-dose and high-dose groups, while SOD level was increased to different extent; at 12th week after medication, the difference of each index has statistical significance (P<0.05 or P<0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Kangangxin liquid can significantly repair cartilage defect of KOA cartilage defect model rabbits, the mechanism of which may be associated with increasing the expression of SOD and mediating NO-inhibited chondrocyte apoptosis.

Résumé

ABSTRACT In photography, face recognition and face retrieval play an important role in many applications such as security, criminology and image forensics. Advancements in face recognition make easier for identity matching of an individual with attributes. Latest development in computer vision technologies enables us to extract facial attributes from the input image and provide similar image results. In this paper, we propose a novel LOP and sparse codewords method to provide similar matching results with respect to input query image. To improve accuracy in image results with input image and dynamic facial attributes, Local octal pattern algorithm [LOP] and Sparse codeword applied in offline and online. The offline and online procedures in face image binning techniques apply with sparse code. Experimental results with Pubfig dataset shows that the proposed LOP along with sparse codewords able to provide matching results with increased accuracy of 90%.

Résumé

This paper presents the corrective surgical methods of lop ear deformities based on the degree of helical constriction. The deformities were corrected by antihelical tubing procedure and/or cartilage graft. The additional skin coverage, if required, was obtained by postauricular V-Y advancement flap or Grotting flap. Total 22 lop ear deformities were corrected including nine tubing procedures, three cartilage grafts and ten cartilage grafts combined with tubing procedure. All patients were followed up more than one year and most of them maintained natural auricular appearances.

Résumé

The effects of topically applied bunazosin hydrochloride, Which has been developed as a highly selective alpha-1 adrenergic antagonist, on intraocular pressure(IOP), pupillary diameter, conjunctival injection, ptosis, and blood pressure were investigated in 14 normal volunteers. It is known that the mechanism of lOP reduction appears to be an increase in uveoscleral outflow and/or a decrease in episcleral venous pressure. The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of 0.1 % Bunazosin(R) on the lOP, pupil size, lid, conjunctival change and blood pressure in the normal human subject. The effects of 0.1% topical bunazosin(R) have been observed with placebo-controlled, double-blind single-dose study. The drug reduced lOP for 10 hours, and the decrease was statistically significant(p value <0.05). The lOP was decreased maximally at 3 hours after the instillation of the drug and the amount of the lOP reduction was 4.2mmHg. There were no significant changes of pupil size, lid configuration, conjunctival injection, and blood pressure in this experiment.

Résumé

We performed the intravitreal injection of air and pure perfluoropropane (C3F8) gas in the pigmented rabbits and observed the changes of gas levels by the ultrasonography. We also observed the changes of the intra-ocular gas levels by the ultrasonography and measured the intraocular pressures (lOPs) in 9 patients who had undergone vitrectomy and fluid-gas exchange with 20% sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) and 14% perfluoropropane (C3F8) gases. In the pigmented rabbits, the air was not expanded and completely absorbed within 2 days, and the C3F8 gas was expanded maximally at 3 to 7 days and completely absorbed after 3 weeks. Among nine human eyes treated with vitrectomy and fluid-gas exchange, the intraocular pressures were elevated above 25mmHg at 1 day after operation in 2 eyes, which were controlled with medical therapy. The lOPs were significantly correlated with the amount of the intraocular gases (r=0.3476, p<0.05). The assessment of intraocular gas level by ultrasonography seems to be easier and more objective method than others previously reported.

Résumé

To estimate the clinical efficacy of a newly developed beta1 and beta2 - adrenoreceptor antagonist, levobunolol hydrochloride (Betagan), fifty six patients (96 eyes) with various types of glaucoma were enrolled in this study and were treated twice a day with 0.5% Betagan. Intraocular pressure (lOP), visual acuity, pupil size and cup/disc ratio were measured before and after Betagan treatment, at week 1, 2, 4, 8 and 12. The patients were also examined to check the subjective or objective local adverse reactions. All the patients showed significant reduction of lOP throughout the observation period without significant change of visual acuity, pupil size and cup/disc ratio. Additive hypotensive effect of Betagan was also noted when it was added to pilocarpine. In some patients, however, stinging sensation with tearing, photophobia, or foreign body sensation and punctate corneal erosion were noted after Betagan treatment; those were mild and transient.

Résumé

To determine the effect of apraclonidine hydrochloride on the acute intraocular pressure (IOP) rise after argon laser iridotomy (ALl), a double-masked comparative study was carried out. Twenty-nine eyes (20 patients) with angle-closure glaucoma underwent ALL Eighteen eyes were treated with apraclonidine and the remainder received placebo 1 hour before and immediately after ALl. The mean IOP increase in the apraclonidine group was lower than that in placebo group at each postlaser intervals (p<0.01). Although average value of maximal increases of IOP after ALl in apraclonidine group was 4 mmHg, that in placebo group was 16mmHg. 27.3% (3 out of 11 eyes) in placebo group experienced IOP rise greater than or equal to 10 mmHg, however, that kind of IOP rise was not found in apraclonidine group (0 out of 18 eyes) (p

Résumé

To determine the effect of apraclonidine hydrochloride on the acute intraocular pressure (IOP) rise after argon laser iridotomy (ALI), a double-masked comparative study was carried out. Twenty-nine eyes (20 patients) with angle-closure glaucoma underwent ALI. Eighteen eyes were treated with apraclonidine, and the remainder received a placebo 1 hour before and immediately after ALI. The mean IOP increase in the apraclonidine group was lower than that in the placebo group at each postlaser interval (p or = 10 mmHg. However, that kind of IOP rise was not found in the apraclonidine group (0 out of 18 eyes) (p < 0.01). Ocular or systemic side effects were not found in a series of examinations in both groups. Therefore, apraclonidine proved to be effective in lowering the IOP rise after ALI.
