RÉSUMÉ

Fluoroquinolones are administered as routine drugs of choice for treating complicated urinary tract infections caused by multidrug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii strains. It is now a world-wide issue that gyr and par induced quinolone resistance as one of the major drug resistance mechanisms. This investigation is thus aimed to assess the prevalence of quinolone resistance and to characterize the gyrA and parC producing strains of A. baumannii. Genomic DNA from 50 fluoroquinolone resistant A. baumannii were screened for gyrA and parC by PCR for the genetic relatedness with fluoroquinolone resistance, with sequencing of the representative strains. All the strains were positive for gyrA(100%) and 82% (n=41)for parC. Presence of parC was observed in 56.09% (n=23) ciprofloxacin resistant A. baumannii with 43.90% (n=18) in levofloxacin resistant A baumannii. The findings of the present study showed the prevalence of fluoroquinolone resistance among A. baumannii in urinary tract infections and the frequency of gyrA and parC in inducing the resistance

RÉSUMÉ

Objective To investigate the drug resistance and homology status of Multi-drug Resistant AcinetobacterBauman-nii (MDR-AB)in orthopaedic hospital. Methods 34 strains MDR-AB were isolated from 2016.1~2016.7 for DNA extrac-tion and were typed by repetitive extragenic palindromie-polyrnerase chain reaction (REP-PCR).Results The resistance rate of MDR-AB were ≥70% to 15 of 17 antimicrobials, except to cotrimoxazole (14%)and levofloxacin (61%),34 strains of MDR-AB were divided into three types by REP-PCR including typeⅠ,typeⅡ and typeⅢ.Conclusion Drug resistance of MDR-AB was severe and mainly composed of the same genotype (typeⅠ).Rational use of antimicrobial and regular mo-nitoring of drug resistance is necessary to reduce the nosocomial transmission.

RÉSUMÉ

Aim – In recent years, the incidence of nosocomial infections due to A.baumannii has increased to a point of concern. Rapid spread of multidrug and extremely drug resistant A.baumannii in clinical settings has made treatment options difficult for clinician. It has also increased the morbidity and mortality in immunocompromised patients. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of essential oil of a traditional medicinal plant, Cymbopogon flexuosus (lemon grass) against the problematic multidrug resistant A.baumannii. Methodology – Essential oil of lemon grass was distilled by Neo-Clavenger’s method and the antibacterial activity was tested against 102 multidrug resistant A.baumannii clinical isolates by punch-well and disc diffusion methods. The minimum inhibitory concentration of lemon grass oil was determined by Macrobroth dilution method. Results – Majority of A.baumannii isolates were inhibited by lemon grass oil, inhibition zone ranging from 13mm to 33mm, mean inhibition zone being 23mm and the minimum inhibitory concentration of lemon grass oil was 6.25μl/ml. Conclusion – essential oil lemon grass showed good antibacterial activity against A.baumannii and might be considered as an alternative treatment option against multi-drug resistant A.baumannii infections. However, further pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic studies are needed for routine clinical use.

RÉSUMÉ

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the antibiotic effects in vitro of colistin combined with other antibacterials respectively against 73 strains of multidrug-resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-Ab). METHODS: The protocol was designed by checkerboard method and the MICs of drugs alone and combination against the 73 strains of Acinetobacter baumannii were determined by broth dilution method, the FIC index was calculated according to MIC results. The interaction was measured by the fractional inhibitory concentration index (FIC): antagonism was defined as FICI≥4, indifference as 1
