Résumé

@#<b>Objective</b> To investigate the effects of low-dose nuclear radiation exposure on the body by analyzing the antioxidant indices, immune indices, lymphocyte proliferation activity, and blood biochemical indices of persons exposed to long-term low-dose nuclear radiation, and to provide a basis for radiation protection and occupational health monitoring. <b>Methods</b> Eighty nuclear radiation workers were selected as the exposure group, and another 30 non-exposure personnel were selected as the control group. In both groups, blood biochemistry, serum total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), malondialdehyde (MDA), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), superoxide dismutase (SOD), lymphocyte proliferation activity, proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), apoptosis factors Bcl-2 and Bax, lymphocyte transformation rate, and lymphocyte micronucleus rate were measured. <b>Results</b> Compared with the control group, T-AOC, GSH-Px, SOD, cell proliferation activity, PCNA, Bcl-2, lymphocyte transformation rate, white blood cell count, and platelet count in the exposure group were significantly decreased, while MDA and Bax were significantly increased (<i>P</i> < 0.05). The lymphocyte micronucleus rate showed no significant difference between the two groups (<i>P</i> > 0.05). <b>Conclusion</b> Long-term low-dose exposure to nuclear radiation has certain effects on related indices of workers, but does not cause significant damage. The personnel exposed to nuclear radiation should enhance the awareness of protection and strengthen scientific protection to reduce radiation damage.

Résumé

Objective To investigate the micronucleus rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes in radiation workers exposed to chronic low dose ionizing radiation in Jiangsu province to adopt corresponding protective measures. Methods From January to December 2019, 504 in-service radiation workers were taken as the radiation group, 105 healthy adults who were to be engaged in radiation work by pre-job occupational health examination were served as the control group. We compared the micronucleus rate of peripheral blood lymphocytes measured by conventional culture. Results The micronucleus rate in the radiation group was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.001) and the micronucleus rate in the female radiation workers was higher than that in the male (P < 0.01); The difference of micronucleus rate in different age groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05), among which aged 41~50 years being higher than that of those aged 21~30 years. Besides, The difference of micronucleus rate between different working age groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05), with higher rates in the 21~30 year range than in the 0~10 year range. (P < 0.05). Differential micronucleus rates among different types of work were statistically significant (P < 0.01), with the highest rate of micronucleus among staff in radiotherapy positions compared to other positions. What’s more, the highest rate of micronucleus among radiology staff in units of different levels was found in municipal hospitals, with statistically significant differences in micronucleus rates between provincial hospitals, enterprises (P < 0.05) and municipal hospitals (P < 0.01). Conclusion The micronucleus rate of radiation workers was significantly higher than that of non-contact personnel, and the micronucleus rate of female radiation workers is higher than that of men. Moreover, the highest rate was found among radiation workers. Therefore, radiation protection and daily management of this population should be strengthened.

Résumé

Objective To explore the advantages of automatic chromosome harvester in lymphocyte micronucleus test. Methods The peripheral blood of 80 radiation workers was collected, then lymphocytes were harvested with an automatic chromosome harvester and manual methods. After Giemsa stained the slides, the micronucleus of the lymphocytes was analyzed under a microscope. Results For lymphocytes from the same batch of specimens, the time of the automatic harvester (185 min) was less than that of the artificial group (350 min). The micronucleus rate (1.04‰ ± 0.63‰), micronucleus cell rate (0.89‰ ± 0.69) and micronucleus positive rate (70.0%) that obtained by the harvester were all higher than manual method (0.60‰ ± 0.68‰, 0.51‰ ± 0.55‰, 48.8%), and the difference was statistically significant (P < 0.01). Conclusion The automatic chromosome harvester can shorten the experimental operation time, reduce the workload of laboratory personnel, and protect the physical and mental health of laboratory personnel. At the same time, it can increase the detection rate of lymphocyte micronucleus, which can provide more accurate detection data for the clinic.

Résumé

OBJECTIVE: To analyze chromosome damage and its possible influencing factors in patients with occupational chronic benzene poisoning. METHODS: Fifty patients with occupational chronic benzene poisoning were selected as chronic benzene poisoning group, and 53 workers without occupational exposure to benzene and other toxic substances were chosen as control group by using convenience sampling method. Questionnaire and routine blood test were conducted on all study subjects. Micronucleus rate test was performed by micronucleus blocking cytokinesis assay. RESULTS: Peripheral blood tests of chronic benzene poisoning group showed significantly reduced hemoglobin level, counts of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, lymphocytes and neutrophils( P < 0. 01),and higher lymphocyte micronucleus rates compared to control group( !: 6. 26‰ vs 3. 91‰,P < 0. 01). The proportion of increased lymphocyte micronucleus rate in chromic benzene poisoning group was also higher than that in control group( 46. 0% vs 5. 7%,P < 0. 01). The multivariate Poisson analysis results indicated that the time after disengagement from benzene exposure was the influencing factor of micronucleus rate in chronic benzene poisoning group( P < 0. 05),after adjusting the confounding factors of gender, age, smoking status, alcohol drinking status and working age of benzene exposure. CONCLUSION: Occupational chronic benzene poisoning leads to increase of chromosome damage in lymphocytes of patients. The time after disengagement from benzene exposure was positively correlated with chromosome damage.
