Objective To explore the prevalence rate and related factors of urban and rural residents with hyperuricemia (HUA). Methods A total of 360 subjects in physical examination department of Sanliusan Hospital from January 2020 to January 2023 were selected and divided into urban residents and rural residents according to their permanent residence addresses, and the demographic information, living habits and underlying diseases were collected. Fasting blood glucose (FBG), serum uric acid (SUA), body mass index (BMI) and triglyceride (TG) were measured. The risk factors of HUA were analyzed by logistics regression analysis. Results The incidence rates of HUA in urban and rural residents were 12.18% and 12.88%. There were statistically significant differences in education level, occupation, BMI, sleep time, alcohol drinking, FBG and TG between urban and rural residents (all P24 kg/m2, alcohol drinking and chronic kidney disease were independent risk factors for HUA occurrence among urban residents (all P<0.05). Chronic kidney disease, FBG≥7.0 mmol/L and TG≥2.3 mmol/L were independent risk factors for hyperuricemia occurrence among rural residents (all P<0.05). Conclusion Rural residents should strengthen health education and blood glucose and lipid control, and urban residents should pay more attention to reasonable exercise, control alcohol consumption and reduce HUA occurrence.

RÉSUMÉ

Occupational exposure to ionizing radiation represents a critical factor contributing to health risks in workplaces. Previous experimental and clinical studies have demonstrated that ionizing radiation affects human health. Therefore, scientific assessment of health risk caused by ionizing radiation and effective protection against ionizing radiation are of great importance to formulate the preventive interventions against occupational exposure to ionizing radiation. This review summarizes the advances in the research on health effects, health risk assessment methods, and protective interventions of ionizing radiation. We call for research on the health effects of low-dose radiation, individual difference, and optimization of preventive strategies. In addition, improved mechanisms of health monitoring, periodical healthy examinations, and monitoring of radiation doses should be implemented. Moreover, strict compliance to operating procedures and occupational preventive interventions are recommended. These measures aim to minimize the potential harmlessness of occupational exposure to ionizing radiation, thereby safeguarding the health and safety of individuals exposed to ionizing radiation.

Background: This study assessed how intervention strategy influenced the attitudes of the Nigerian public and their practices to cause a behavioural change at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. An epidemiological survey designed as a cross-sectional descriptive study, was conducted at the height of COVID-19 pandemicin Nigeria to assess the knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP) of Nigerians as a preventive intervention strategy against the novel Coronavirus. A self-structured questionnaire was designed specifically for this study. The study objectives were assessed on a three point scale of “maybe, no and yes.”Method: Online questionnaires were randomly administered to the general Nigerian public. The online survey used Google form and the study was limited to Nigerian residents with access to internet. The questionnaire was sectioned into two parts. The first part captured social demographics and the second part included five items each assessing public KAP towards the COVID-19 pandemic. Results: Three hundred and forty-seven (347) persons responded to the questionnaires. All respondents (100%) demonstrated adequate knowledge of COVID-19. Reports on attitude towards COVID-19 showed that 287 (82.7%) of the respondents were critical about COVID-19 information while 323 (93.0%) adhered to guidelines about COVID-19 indicating good practice. Conclusions: This study reveals a good knowledge of COVID-19, right attitudes and appropriate safe practices towards COVID-19 in Nigeria, consequently, good adherence and compliance to the guidelines. However, the few respondents with poor understanding and attitudes presents a cause for concern

The health impacts and economic burdens associated by work-related musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) have become an important issue in the field of occupational health. Compared with developed countries, we should more systematically carry out in-depth research and practice on occupational ergonomics, comprehensively understand ergonomic factors and their characteristics, and strengthen the intervention and health risk assessment of ergonomic risk factors in key workplaces based on specific production conditions of different industries, so as to prevent and control the occurrence and development of WMSDs. This article introduced the concept, signs, symptoms, risk factors, and currently identifiable site-specific WMSDs. This column presented new research progress from the aspects of ergonomic load assessment methods, the prevalence and related risk factors of WMSDs in different trades, and ergonomic intervention of WMSDs, aiming to provide reference and basis for future research.

Abstract In early childhood education, socio-emotional learning is not always considered with appropriate planning nor based on scientific evidence. Aiming to analyze impact of an Emotional Regulation (ER) Intervention in school achievement and social skills (SS), fifty-five children from public schools were evaluated by Raven's Coloured Progressive Matrices (CPM), School Achievement Test (TDE) and Social Skills Rating System (SSRS-BR). After nine 50-minute meetings addressing ER strategies, evaluation of SS by the teacher indicated improvement in all aspects of SS in Intervention Group (IG) and worsening of the self-control in Comparison Group (CG). Self-evaluation of SS showed that IG overcame the initial difference in assertiveness and problem avoidance. Results suggest that ER programs can bring benefits to the development of SS.

Unipolar depression is one of the most common illnesses in western society. There are multiple risk factors and many of them are preventable. However, planning of primary prevention of depression is not taken very seriously in Spain. We conclude that there are various political and academic reasons for this situation. They both can be overcome if we take prevention of depression more seriously.
