"Target fishing" strategy was used to investigate the direct targets and mechanism of Shouhui Tongbian Capsules on relaxing bowel. Magnetic beads cross-linked with the chemical constituents from Shouhui Tongbian Capsules were prepared. The potential target proteins were captured from the total protein lysates of rat intestine using the beads. The captured proteins were further identified by LC-MS/MS, and the associated pathways were analyzed by Cytoscape. RESULTS:: showed that 138 potential target proteins were identified, which were involved in eight signaling pathways, including tricarboxylic acid cycle, pyrimidine metabolism, sulfur metabolism, fatty acid degradation, alanine/aspartate/glutamate metabolism, arginine/proline metabolism, valine/leucine/isoleucine degradation, and β-alanine metabolism. Taken together, Shouhui Tongbian Capsules may exert relaxing bowel effect by acting on multiple signaling pathways to promote intestinal gurgling, inhibit inflammation, as well as improve intestinal barrier function, intestinal water secretion, and intestinal flora.

The dried roots of Angelica sinensis has been widely applied in clinical care due to its efficiencies in nourishing and activating blood, regulating female menstrual disorders and relieving pains, relaxing bowels, etc. The cultivated two-year-old plants normally harvested roots for medicinal uses emerge over 30% early bolting rate, which leads to the lignified roots that are useless in medicinal agents. The early bolting and flowering that are leading to serious yield reduction has been one of the most serious problems in the production of A. sinensis for many years. Here, based on previously published research articles, monographs, patents as well as practice experiences, the research progresses on the internal and external factors affecting bolting and flowering of A. sinensis, the pathways regulating bolting and flowering, the mechanism revealing bolting and flowering by biotechnological interventions were summarized, with the aim of providing effective pathways jointly internal and external factors for regulating bolting and flowering, as well as references for further revealing the mechanism of the bolting and flowering of A. sinensis.

Objective The efficacy and safety of rectal instillation with formula for clearing heat, eliminating phlegm and relaxing bowel on treating encephalopathy complicated with pulmonary infection were evaluated by randomized controlled clinical trials. Methods Eighty eligible cases of encephalopathy complicated with pulmonary infection were randomly divided into treatment group and control group. Control group was given conventional treatment and treatment group was given rectal instillation treatment with formula for clearing heat , eliminating phlegm and relaxing bowel. The changes of index were observed before and after treatment in two groups including temperature, antifebrile time, white blood cell count, neutrophils ratio,C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, pneumonia severity index, and the efficacy score of TCM syndrome. Results Rectal instillation with formula for clearing heat and eliminating phlegm to relax bowel can be better improved encephalopathy complicated with pulmonary infection with syndrome of phlegm-heat obstructing in which the patients have yellow sputum, constipation, yellow urinary and other symptoms. It can reduce TCM syndrome score and level of serum calcitonin, relieve inflammation, enhanc antibacterial effect, and improve the clinical curative effect. Conclusions The curative effects of rectal instillation with formula for clearing heat and eliminating phlegm to relax bowel on treating encephalopathy complicated with pulmonary is definite which has no adverse reaction and safety use. It is worthy of further popularizing in clinic.
