Tratamiento rehabilitador integral en pacientes con fracturas de Colles consolidadas / Comprehensive rehabilitative treatment in patients with consolidated Colles fractures

Se realizó una intervención terapéutica en 50 pacientes con fracturas de Colles consolidadas, atendidos en el Hospital Clinicoquirúrgico Docente "Dr. Joaquín Castillo Duany" de Santiago de Cuba, en el período 2007-2008, a fin de evaluar el resultado del tratamiento rehabilitador integral. Se conformaron 2 grupos (control y de estudio) de 25 integrantes cada uno -- seleccionados de forma alterna --, quienes recibieron tratamiento convencional e integrador, respectivamente. Luego de aplicadas las escalas funcionales se evidenció mejor resultado terapéutico en los pacientes del segundo grupo, dado por menores complicaciones, mejor estado funcional de la muñeca y mano afectada y menor tiempo de recuperación.

A therapeutic intervention in 50 patients with consolidated Colles fractures; assisted in "Dr. Joaquín Castillo Duany" Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital in Santiago de Cuba was carried out in the period 2007-2008, in order to evaluate the result of the comprehensive rehabilitative treatment. Two groups were formed (control and study groups) of 25 members each -- selected in an alternating way -- who received conventional and integrative treatment, respectively. After having applied the functional scales, a better therapeutic result was evidenced in the patients of the second group, given by smaller complications, better functional state of the wrist and affected hand and shorter time of recovery.

The treatment of VSD with home-made occluder and its mid-term and long-term results / 介入放射学杂志

Objective To evaluate the home-made occluder in the treatment of VSD and its mid-term and long-term results. Methods From Jan. 2004 to May 2007, percutaneous VSD closure therapy under X-ray monitoring was performed in 78 consecutive VSDpatients, including 43 males and 35 females with an average age of (16.5±8.6) years (ranged 3-37 years). TTE, ECG and Holter examinations were performed in 1 week, 3 months, 1 year and 2 years after the procedure. Results Seventy-three home-made occluder devices with a diameter of 5-16 mm (10.3±3.2 mm) were implanted successfully, with a technical successful rate of 93.6% (73/78). The whole course follow-up were carried out in all 73 successful cases (100%). One week after the procedure ITE detected residual shunt in 8 cases, and three months later the residual shunt was observed in 5 cases. Follow-up check at one and two years after the treatment the residual shunt disappeared completely. For the observation of arrhythmia, occasional atrial premature beats or ventricular premature beats occurred in 28 cases (38.4%) within one week after the procedure, and two patients developed grade Ⅲ complete atrioventricular block at the third day after the surgery. The arrhythmia disappeared after medication of prednisone and nutrient drugs for 4-10 days. Bundle branch blocks were observed in 8 cases (10.1%) at one-year and two-year follow-up. Conclusion For the treatment of VSD, the home-made Amplatzer occluder device is reliable and effective, although a close foUow-up is required after the surgery.

Manufacture of double-deck pillow and its application during thyroma operation / 中国实用护理杂志

Objective To approach the preoperative exercise of body position and the comfortable post operative body position of thyroma patients,to elevate the degree of comfort and satisfaction of patients,reduce the complication and promote the rehabilitation of patients.Methods 60 thyroma patients(all underwent operation and with drainage tube)in general surgery department of our hospital from January 2004 to February 2006 were randomly divided into the experimental group and the control group.Before the operation the double deck pillows were used in the experimental group and the ordinary pillows were used in the control group.The therapeutic result was observed in both groups.Results The degree of comfort,the first-class healing rate of incision and the postoperative complications rate were significantly different between the two groups(P＜0.05).Condusiom The application of the double-deck pillow in thyroma patients could augment the degree of comfort of the preoperative exercise and postoperative body position,and could degrade the postoperative complications of thyroma patients and shorten the length of hospital stay.

Clinical study of CD-Horizon in idiopathic scoliosis / 中国矫形外科杂志

[Objective]To discuss the effective method of idiopathic scoliosis and evaluate the result of screw-rod and screw-hook-rod system.[Method]From January 2000 to January 2004,85 cases with idiopathic scoliosis were treated by CD-Horizon instrument.Fifty-one cases were corrected with pedicle screws system only(group A),34 cases were applicated with pedicle hooks or vertebral plate hooks in thoracic vertebra,while with pedicle screws system in lumbar vertebrae(group B).The Cobb's angle of coronal plane and sagittal plane and horizontal plane malformation were compared in preoperative score,postoperative score and the score at 2 years follow-up.[Result]The mean followed-up duration of 85 cases was three years and a half.The coronal plane and sagittal plane correction rate of group A was higher than that of group B at postoperative and 2-year follow-up(P0.05).[Conclusion]Using CD-Horizon instrument is a very effective choice for patients with idiopathic scoliosis.Pedicle screw-rod system offers a significantly better curve correction compared with screw-hook-rod system.

Application of TSRH in idiopathic scoliosis / 中国矫形外科杂志

[Objective]To review the therapeutic effect of TSRH in correction of coronal plane,sagittal plane and horizontal plane malformation of the idiopathic scoliosis,and to evaluate the result of screw-rod and screw-crook-rod system.[Method]A total of 79 idiopathic scoliosis patients who were corrected with TSRH were analyzed.There were 48 males and 31 females with an average age of 15.5 years.Only pedicle screws system was used in 56 cases,pedicle crook or vertebral plate crook in thoracic vertebra,pedicle screws system in lumbar vertebrae were used in 23 cases,then the results of two groups were compared.[Result]Cobb's angel in coronal plane was corrected from 18 to 31 after operation,the correction rate was from 56 percent to 87 percent,with an average of 68 percent;while Cobb's angel in sagittal plane was corrected from 21 to 33 after operation,with an average of 25.Rotation was corrected by I degree,heights were increased by 3 cm in average.The mean followed-up duration of 63 cases was two years and a half year.There was significant difference between the two groups in correction rate in coronal plane and sagittal plane,also in loss of correction in coronal plane.[Conclusion]TSRH could make satisfying results in correction of idiopathic scoliosis,and the result would be better if pedicle screws system is used.
