Résumé

Objective To investigate influencing factors of the first cases of varicella outbreaks in primary school in Pudong New Area of Shanghai and to provide scientific evidence for effective prevention and control measures against it. Methods The first 80 cases of varicella outbreaks in primary school in Pudong New Area were included for the case-control study.Immunization history, outing activities and information of out-of-school training were gathered.Univariate and multivariate conditional logistic regression analysis were adopted for data analysis. Results Multivariate analysis revealed that varicella vaccination period(OR=0.08, 95%CI:0.01-0.44)was the protective factor for the first case in a varicella outbreak, while weekly frequency of visits to large commercial/supermarkets (OR=4.79, 95%CI:1.86-12.34)and weekly attendance at out-of-school training(OR=1.84, 95%CI:1.01-3.35)were risk factors of the disease. Conclusion It is important to promote the current varicella vaccine immunization strategy, to strengthen the disinfection and health education of large commercial/supermarkets and to strengthen infectious disease management, disease prevention guidance and supervision in out-of-school training institutions.

Résumé

Undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma has been described in the liver, a rare malignant mesenchymal neoplasm, that occurs primarily in children and teenagers. Approximately 260 cases have been reported arising in the liver since 1978 when this disease was first described. Its pathogenesis is still obscure. Authors presented a case of extrahepatic undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma in a 9-year-old female presenting with upper abdominal dull pain. Ultrasound and CT Scan showed normal liver architecture, with liver pushed upwards due to compression by tumor arising in the retroperitoneum. To the best of our knowledge, this is first case of extrahepatic undifferentiated embryonal sarcoma diagnosed on cytomorphology and confirmed by histopathology and immunohistochemistry markers.

Résumé

We analyzed epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the case of human infected with avian influenza (H5N6) in Anhui Province and provided evidences for drawing up the prevention and control measures. We did an epidemiolog ical investigation on the case, close contacts and infection source of the infected case;relevant specimens were collected and tested in laboratories. The data gathered were analyzed with descriptive epidemiology method. The first case of human infected with avian influenza (H5N6) in Anhui was a single case and did not showed signs of human-to-human transmission. The early clinical manifestations and signs was lack of specificity. This case had definite contact with sick/dead poultry one week before the onset of the disease. Two environmental specimen of live poultry market which was the source of sick/dead poultry had been detected and the results were H5N6 positive. This case was a local infection case and contacting with sick/dead poultry was the source of infection, while there was no evidence of human to human transmission.

Résumé

We report a case of hemolytic disease of the newborn caused by anti-Mia (Miltenberger) antibody. Full term male infant was admitted due to hyperbilirubinemia on second day of life. Total serum bilirubin level was 8.6 mg/dL at 12 hours of age and 12.3 mg/dL at 24 hours of age. The blood group of patient and his mother were both RhD positive B type. Direct antiglobulin test was strongly positive in the patient, and testing of maternal serum and patient's serum against a red cell panel including cells known to carry the antigenic determinants of some Miltenberger phenotypes revealed the presence of anti-Mia . Testing of paternal red cells and patient's red cell against anti-Mia serum revealed positive reaction. This report documents the first case of hemolytic disease of the newborn due to anti-Mi a in Korea.
