Résumé

Objective To investigate the correlation between iron metabolism index and intelligence development of Dongxiang and Han students in Dongxiang county and Lanzhou city of Gansu province. Methods A total of 396 students aged from 6 to 11 years old were randomly selected for venous blood collection from two primary schools with Dongxiang and Han children in Dongxiang county and Lanzhou city.Blood routine and serum iron metabolism indicators were detected and iron metabolism indicators from different ethnic groups were analyzed.Students diagnosed with iron deficiency anemia(IDA) named as IDA group, and students without IDA who had similar background were enrolled in the control group. The correlation between iron metabolism index and intelligence quotient was analyzed. Results The ferritin level of Dongxiang students (51.81 μg/L)was lower than that of Han students(65.73 μg/L),and total iron binding capacity of students in Dongxiang county [(65.04 ± 6.68) μ mol/L] was higher than that of students in Lanzhou city [(59.92 ±5.91) μmol/L].The transferrinsaturation of students in Dongxiang county [0.23 (0.19 ~ 0.30)] was lower than that of students in Lanzhou city[0.26(0.20 ~0.32)].The differences were statistically significant(P <0.05).Analysis of multiple linear regression showed that ferritin and serum iron were correlated to intelligence quotient score of the IDA students (P < 0.05).Conclusion Ferritin and serum iron are associated with primary school students' intelligence quotient.Religious practice, regional economic and cultural level have a certain influence on iron metabolism of local primary school students. It is very important to strengthen the supplement of dietary iron in primary school students in Dongxiang County and reduce the prevalence of iron deficiency.

Résumé

Objective To explore the influence of early intervention on physical and intelligent development of premature infants with very low birth weight. Methods Selected 32 premature infants of very lowbirth weight treated in neonatal intensive care unit during November 2011 to October 2012 as the intervention group. To avoid the violation of medical ethics, we select another 32 premature infants with very low birth weight who were born before November 2011and aged between 9 to 15 months as the control group. The intervention group was treated with early intervention, including regular physical development evaluation, neuromotor examination and test of intelligence. The intervention group was followed-up until correction age of 1 year and the control group was only at the year of correction age of 1 year. Results The physical development in the intervention group was better than the control group at the age of 1, the mental development index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI) significantly higher than those of the control group as well. The incidences of low intelligence and cerebral palsy were lower than those of the control group. The differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Early intervention is obviously effective in promoting the physical and intelligent development of very low birth weight premature infants, reducing the incidence of low intelligence and cerebral palsy, and improving the long-term living quality of the survivors. Still, the method centers on family, and therefore, is feasible and effective. So the doctors for children′s care from basic hospitals should vigorously promote the method.

Résumé

Objective To explore the diagnosis and curative effect of phenylketonuria(PKU) in Gansu. Methods Fifty-nine thousand nine hundred infants and 118 borderline cases were screened from Oct.1999 to Dec.2006.Three drops of venous blood was collected from the exterior or interior part in the heel, and trickled the venous blood onto the specialized filter paper, which could be formed into 3 bloodstains with the diameter of 0.8-1.0 cm.Phenylalanine(phe) was detected by chemiluminescence method, and PKU was screened by the PKU standard of diagnosis.Infants with PKU had been given low phe food.During the treatment, phe level, physical development and intellectual development were measured regularly.Patients′ body weight, height and head circumference were measured once 1 month.Patients′ intellectual quotient(IQ) were measured every half year(IQ was analyzed by Gesell test). Results were analyzed by SPSS 11.0 software for t test. Results In total,93 patients with PKU were diagnosed and treated.Thirty-six cases were identified by neonatal screening before 3 mouths old.Mental retardation was found in 57 cases before 6 years old. After treatment with low-phe diet, the follow-up for early-treated patients revealed that their physical and mental development were normal, and height, weight and head circumference were in the normal amplitude, and the results of IQ was(92?12)scores.In later treated patients, abnormal behaviors were significantly improved and their developmental quotients were elevated. Before treatment,Gesell value was(57?20)scores;after 12-18 months treatment Gesell value was(70?20)scores.The difference was significant(t=1.705 P

Résumé

Objective:To investigate the effect of early intervention on intelligent development of the premature infants. Method:62 premature infants were randomly assigned to the intervention group and the control group. The early intervention began from the birth of the infants to their 2 years old.Result:At the age of one and two, the mental development index (MDI) and psychomotor development index (PDI) were significantly higher in the intervention group than in the control. Conclusion:Early intervention can improve intelligent development of premature infants.
