Résumé

@#Introduction: Cardiovascular diseases, particularly coronary heart disease (CHD), are the third biggest cause of mortality worldwide, and percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is one of the available treatments. The patient’s self-efficacy in performing self-care decreases as a result of several post-PCI hurdles, which has an effect on their quality of life. The purpose of this investigation was to explore the barriers that patients experience following PCI. Methods: The study design used was descriptive qualitative in 15 patients after PCI. Purposive sampling was used to conduct the participant recruitment process. Between June 2021 and January 2022, data were collected using a semi-structured interviewing method. The data were analysed through the use of thematic content analysis. Results: The thematic content analysis found four themes: 1) Perceived physical barriers; 2) Perceived psychological barriers; 3) Low adherence; 4) The adverse side effects of medications. Conclusion: The results of this study highlight the value of empowering patients to take care of themselves at home following PCI and assisting in the creation of holistic and continuity nurse intervention models.

Résumé

@#Progressive reduction of visual field is the main feature in glaucoma patients. The paranoid personality and anxiety/depression characteristics of glaucona patients run through the pathogenesis and progression of the disease. The correlation between different visual fields and various cognitive components may lead to cognitive changes or different degrees of emotional disorders in the process of visual field impairment, while the emotional/psychological disorders in glaucoma patients with anxiety/depression as the main characteristics have negative effects on the range of peripheral vision and visual acuity. As a result of the interaction between body and mind, the speed and degree of visual impairment of glaucoma have characteristic changes. "Psychogenic error" or "functional error" will lead to the misjudgment of pathological damage of visual function. Attention to the interaction between mood disorders and visual field impairment in glaucoma patients has promoted the development of combined intervention strategies of body and mind on the course of glaucoma.

Résumé

Poor hand-hygiene (HH) is the primary cause of health-care related infections, yet compliance has proven to be challenging. This multi-method study into HH in a state-of-the-art cancer hospital demonstrates that the presence of resources and prioritisation of HH alone is not sufficient for HH compliance. A large gap was found between perceived (87%) and actual (52%) HH compliance and knowledge. Similarly, although 82% of the respondents knew proper HH moments, they did not act on it. These gaps between perception and reality suggest that resources, knowledge and training might not be sufficient for improving HH: Psychological barriers need to be addressed too.
