Trauma facial: a propósito de 125 casos tratados / Facial trauma: a series of 125 cases

Se presenta la experiencia de 125 casos de traumatismo cráneo-maxilo-facial, tratados durante los últimos 4 años. El pilar del tratamiento fue la utilización de la fijación rígida con mini y micro placas de Titanio; la reconstrucción del piso, techo y paredes laterales de la órbita, se realizó principalmente con malla de Titanio. Los resultados funcionales y estéticos fueron satisfactorios. La principal complicación fue el enoftalmos tardío que se diagnosticó en 4 casos

Early experience in the transpedicular screw plate fixation of the dorsolumbar area with VSP system

There is a multitude of techniques and materials which have been utilized to achieve spinal stability and to correct deformity of the dorso-lumbar area. The transpedicular screw plate fixation has become an important method for internal fixation of the dorso-lumbar area. This technique was applied on 35 patients presented to them with different clinical pictures as a result of trauma. They were divided into grades according to Frankel Grid Classification. There were 18 patients with postoperative good improvement and 17 patients without neurological recovery. The preoperative radiological planning and the intraoperative radiological assistance are mandatory to achieve proper trajectory of the screw through the pedicle and to avoid nerve root injury

Treatment of lower cervical spine injuries by anterior fusion and plating

This study analyzed 39 patients with lower cervical spine injuries treated by anterior fusion and plating. The average age of patient was 38.5 years,23 patients had predominantly discoligamentous injuries and were treated by unisegmental fusion and plating. 15 patients had predominantly crushed bodies and were treated by bisegmental anterior fusion and plating. 6 patients were neurologically free while 18 were completely quadriplegics and 15 patients were incompletely quadriplegics. There are no relevant complications except screw loosening in two patients with no clinical significance

Com essa técnica pode-se abordar e tratar diretamente todos os focos de fraturas faciais, evitando-se ao máximo os bloqueios intermaxilares
