The fruits of Priminella anisum Linn. are claimed to possess expectorant, stimulant, carminative, diuretic and diaphoretic properties. They are also used in flatulent colic and in some pharmaceutical preparations for asthma. The paper deals with the organic analysis, fluorescence studies, water and alcohol soluble matter, ash values, other physical parameters and T.L.C. behaviour of the fruit [commercially known as seed].
