RESUMO
A patient of septicaemia due to flavobacterium meningosepticum developed agranulocytosis after 9.75 grams of intravenous chloramphenicol over 72 hours. His neutrophil counts recovered from the fifth day of stopping the drug and starting treatment with granulocyte colony stimulating factor. The value of this hormone for non-chemotherapy drug induced bone marrow suppression is discussed
