RESUMO
The material of the present study comprised 36 patients with idiopathic MVP. There is no apparent direct effect of age, sex or the severity of MVP on the pulmonary function tests [except a significant reduction to% of predict of FEF25-75 in patients with age less than 20 years]. This can be explained by the small number of cases in the study or by the effect of other factors i.e. Autonomic dysfunction, exercise intolerance...etc. However, there is some significant positive correlation of some pulmonary function tests in relation to left atrial size mainly in cases with severe MVP.
