The study included 142 cases of after-cataract in the different age groups. The procedures done were discission [8], scissors capsulectomy [21], automated membranectomy using the ocutome probe [29] and Nd:YAG capsulotomy [84]. This study included 159 patients with aphakic retinal detachment [ARD] who were admitted to the Ophthalmic Department of Assiut University Hospital through a period of five years. Six patients had bilateral ARD. The type of cataract operation was intracapsular in 141 eyes and extracapsular in 24 eyes. Single retinal break was found in 17%, multiple breaks in 10% and in 28.5% no breaks could be detected. Conventional cryoretinopexy was performed in 124 eyes, vitrectomy in 10 eyes and 31 eyes were not operated upon

It was noticed that perforating injuries of the eye are important problems causing loss of vision of one or both eyes. Thus a study of these injuries was done on one hundred and eighty six patients who where admitted to the ophthalmic department of Assiut University Hospital in a period of two years, aiming to study the causes, types, management and prognosis
