RESUMO

The purpose of this study was under taken on evaluation of the psychiatric OPD services by determing; -Source of referral, profile of attendees and clinical diagnosis. In one year period 930 of the total new cases in psychiatric OPD. Were referred cases. Majority of the cases were referred to OPD. Level male were more than females internist referred maximum cases than other specialties. Mood disorder and anxiety disorder was the most common diagnosis amongst the referred cases

RESUMO

The aim of the study to assess the frequency of psychiatric disorder in diabetic patient. The study included 100 [58 men and 42 women] from diabetic patient attended to diabetic clinics in general hospital of Bahrain. The results showed high frequency of psychiatric disorder in study group. Depression was most common-34.2%] followed by generalized anxiety disorder [n=18.4%] and phobic disorder [-21.1%] according to sex, a more psychiatric disorder was recorded in women, study results showed high prevalence of psychiatric disorder in diabetic patients which is the most common is anxiety disorders. The study was conducted to the diabetic clinic in general Hospital in Bahrain. The Patients were aged between 20 and 65. All patients had a diabetes mellitus diagnosed under supervision of internist consultant and attended the diabetic clinic of the Hospital. All provided written informed consent before entering the study. -Inclusion criteria were as follows: -Initially diagnosed with diabetes mellitus by the consultant internist and met the WHO criteria for diabetes]. -Stable disease without need for Hospital admission for 3months prior to assessment. -Established disease for at least 1 year. Exclusive Criteria. Including any other concomitant diseases. General Health Questionnaire [GHQ] used for psychiatric evaluation. GHQ one of the most widely used psychiatric instruments to screen for mild form of psychopathology in the general population. It self report instrument, consists of 28 questions. Open psychiatric interview that provide diagnosed according to DSM-TV

RESUMO

This study describes the demographic, psychosocial and clinical characteristics of 125 suicidal attempters visiting an emergency room in general Hospital in Bahrain King Dom. The population was mostly young, unemployed and singles. In the male gender population 44.6% claimed that were unemployed, compared to 35.2 in the female gender. In addition 76.2% of the male population reported use of illicit drugs vs. 25.5% of females. Inter personal problems were identified by 72.8% of the population as stressor for the attempt. The findings of the study suggest that the importance of risk factors for suicidal acts differs in men and women

RESUMO

Prevalence estimated of conduct disorder, one of the most frequent diagnosed psychiatric conditions in children, vary widely from 0.2% to 8.7%. To find out the prevalence of conduct disorder and its comorbid ADHD in schoolchildren in Bahrain and Saudi. A total 180 students selected randomly were subjected to Conduct disorder scale, demographic questioners, ADHD scale and smi structure interview with the parents. Conduct disorder was found in 4.58 ; the ratio of boys to girls being 4,5:1childhood onset was found in 73% and adolescents onset in 27% mild CD was found in 36%, moderate in 64% and sever conduct disorder in none Comorbid attention deficit disorder was found in 36% hyperactive- impulsive being predominant. The prevalence of CD was 4058% more common in boys, the majority have childhood onset, and one third had comorbid ADRD

RESUMO

We studied functioning and quality of life in 82 patients with schizophrenia in 2 out patient psychiatric clinic in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, using the disability assessment schedule and also modified of the schizophrenia quality of life scale. Approximately] 30% had quality of life. 19.4% thought that general health was good or excellent. There was significant relation ship between sex and marital status and quality of life but employment and education were significantly related. Also results of the present studies indicated serious deficit of the areas of the social functioning and quality of life of home environment and these deficits were found to have a significant association with low quality of life
