RESUMO
Adenotonsillar hypertrophy is one of the factors of upper respiratory passages obstruction and sleep respiratory disorders [Sleep apnea] in children. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of [adenotonsillectomy] on Oxy-metric indices and sleep respiratory disorders [Sleep apnea]. The 42 patients with sleep respiratory disorders [Sleep apnea] were admitted for 3 months in the hospital Oxy-metry, then they had undergine Adenotonsillectomy surgery. The indices were measured again after surgery and changes were studied. Of 42 participated patients 64.3% [n=27] were male and 35.7% [n=15] were female. The mean age was 50.5 years. The most common complaint [47.6%] was snoring and mouth breathing at night. All oxymetric parameters were recorded. The average "Min Spo2" of 86% before surgery was improved to 92.5% after surgery [P< 0.001]. Oxy-metric indices in patients suffering [Sleep apnea] improves with Adenotonsillectomy. So, the surgery could improve this disorder and may prevent cardiovascular complications caused by it in the future
