RESUMO
The essential fruit oil of Pseudorlaya pumila L. Grande was obtained by hydrodistillation [0.8% v/w]. The oil was analyzed by GLC using capillary columns of different polarities as well as by GC-mass spectrometry. Thirteen components accounting for more than 96% of the oil were identified. The predominant compound was myristicin [37%]. In addition, significant amount of alpha-pinene, limonene, chrysanthenyl acetate, myrcene and humulene was present

FrutasRESUMO
Capillary GC and GC-MS analysis of freshly distilled oil of ripe fruits harvested from plants cultivated at Mansoura University revealed the presence of 45 components of which limonene, sedanolide, beta- selinene, pentyl cyclohexadiene and myrcene constitute more than 90%. Unlike several other reported data, n- butylphalide is present only in minute amount while sedanenolide is totally absent. A one-year old sample, stored in a teflon-capped glass tube revealed no qualitative change in the phthalide components as well as an insignificant change in their relative percentage composition suggesting the stability of the compounds

Óleos de Plantas/análiseRESUMO
Analysis of the essential oil of Mentha microphylla Koch. has been carried out by capillary gas chromatography mass spectrometry. Twenty- five compounds were identified. The main constituents are piperitone oxide and piperitenone oxide accounting for more than 65% of the oil and their relative concentration seems to be dependent on the maturity of the plants. Other major compounds are 3-octanol, limonene B- caryophyllene and B-cubebene

Óleos de PlantasRESUMO
The petroleum ether extract of the aerial parts of Cynanchum acutum L. afforded beta-sitosterol, varies directly as amyrin lupeol, lupeol acetate and a complex series of fatty esters of lupeol, dominated by behenic [C16] moities. Gas chromatographic analysis of the saponifiables matter of the total extract revealed that it is composed mainly of oleic [C18:1] and palmitic [C16] acids

FarmacognosiaRESUMO
On continuation of phytochemical investigation of the aerial parts of Daucus glaber [Forssk] Tell led to isolation of another trimester phenylpropanoid compound named isodaucoglabrin. Its structure was established on the bases of physical, chemical and spectroscopic evidences as: 2[[2-hydroxy-2-methyl-3-chlorobutanoyloxy]]-1-[2-hydroxy-2-methyl-3-[3-methyl-3-angeloyloxy] butanoyloxyl]-1-[[3-methoxy-4,5-methyl-enedioxyphenyl]] propane
RESUMO
The essential fruit oil of Torilis arvensis [Huds.] Link was obtained by hydrodistillation [0.5%v/w] and analyzed by CGC-MS. The oil consists of at least 87 components, 20 of which accounting for about 28.5% of the oil composition were identified. The oil can be easily distinguished from those of the studied European species by the presence of significant amounts of beta-bisabolene, beta-caryophyllene, thymol, beta-pinene and cresol. Moreover bergapten, xanthotoxin, scopoletin, luteolin-7-o-glucoside and apigenin-7-o-diglucoside were isolated and their structures were established from their physico-chemical properties and spectral data. The coumarins and apigenin 7-o-diglucoside are reported for the first time in the genus Torilis
RESUMO
Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of Centaurea glomerata Vahl. [family compositae] afforded a lignan glycoside [arctiin] and four flavonoid aglycones three of them were identified as 3-methyl quercetin rhamnazin [7.3 dimethyl quercetin] and spinacetin [6.3-dimethoxy 3,5,7,4-tetrahydroxy flavone]

The light petroleum extract of Anthemis melampodina Del. fam. Compositae afforded two sesquiterpene lactones [parthenolide and 8-deoxycumambrin B] and a mixture of B-sitosterol, stigmasterol and campesterol. The ether extract afforded four flavonol aglycones. They were identified as axillarin [3,6-dimethoxy-5,7,3'4'-tetrahydroxhflavone], rhamnetin, quercetin and patuletin [6-methoxy quercetin]
RESUMO
The effect of allopurinol on pharmacokinetic parameters and hypoglycemic activity of tolbutamide was assessed in fasted rabbits. Pretreatment of animals with allopurinol two hours before tolbutamide injection resulted in a significant increase in plasma tolbutamide levels compared to those rabbits receiving tolbutamide alone. The plasma half life of tolbutamide increased. The hypoglycemic activity of tolbutamide was also significantly enhanced in rabbits receiving allopurinol. The results suggested the importance of tolbutamide dosage adjustment when allopurinol is given concurrently

The phytochemical investigation of the roots of Bryonia cretica L. revealed the presence of cucurbitacins E, I and L, in addition to B- sitosterol-3-O-glucoside. The identification was performed by physical, chemical and spectroscopic methods
