RESUMO

This is the first reported data about an Egyptian and probably African pedigree of family affected with Norrie's disease, the ultrasonographic features of the disease which are consistent with the histopathologic data previously reported show the presence of abnormal vitreoretinal relationship with a consequent occurrence of retinal detachment, retronetal fibrovascular mass and atrophia bulbi. The study aimed also at reporting some clinical findings not previously mentioned, and including grayness of hairs, esophageal atresia, epilepsy and fragile bones, and the question always remains; could this be a mere association with the disease or a more widespread expression of the responsible genetic defect? This has to be more properly investigated
