Evaluation of endoscopic forceps biopsy and brush cytology in diagnosis of carcinoma of the esophagus

Twenty-five patients complaining of dysphagia were studied. Rigid esophagoscopy was done for all patients and brush cytology utilizing a newly designed brush as well as punch biopsy were done. Meanwhile, fiberoptic esophagoscopy with brush cytology and punch biopsy were done in ten patients only.
