RESUMO

Forty five albino rats of both sexes were divided into two groups. The first group was given sodium selenite in drinking water at a dose of 20 PPM for eight weeks. While the second group served as a control. Clinical signs, pathological alterations and chromosomal aberrations were recorded. The results showed reduction of body and organs weight. The histopathological changes were congestion with vacuolar degeneration of the hepatocytes around the central vein. Hyaline casts, tubular nephrosis and haemorrhage in kidneys. The cytogenetic activity of selenium on bone marrow cells was confirmed by the high percentage of mitotic index and chromosomal aberrations. Ring chromosome, gap formation, end to end association and pulverized chromosome were scored

RESUMO

Water pollution is one of the major problems confronting public healthofficials everywhere. The present study tried to screen some importanttoxic anions and heavy metals as wastes pollutants in the surface water ofBelbis Canal, Sharqia Governorate, Egypt. Fifty water samples were collectedalong different steps of an automatic Poultry Slaughter House. The levels ofnitrite, phosphate, chloride, cadmium, mercury, zinc and lead were recorded ineach step of the plant. The results showed that the levels of all themicroscopical examination of some organs of albino rats treated by mercury, lead or cadmium with the high test concentration of heavy metals obtained inwater samples revealed histopathological alterations

RESUMO

Thirty-five male albino rats were divided into two groups. The first group[20 animals] received diphenamide in an oral dose of 70 mg/kg. b. wt. weekly, the rest of animals served as controls. At the end of eight weeks, the animalswere cervically dislocated. Epididymal contents were collected. Spermconcentration, percentage of the head abnormalities as well as sperm motilityand live/dead% were examined. Testis, liver and kidney were collectedfor the histopathological examination. A significant reduction in sperm cellconcentration, sperm motility and live/dead percentage and an increase of headabnormalities were detected. Degenerative changes and necrosis of testis, liver and kidney were recorded

RESUMO

The teratogenic and histopathological exploration of the minced extract ofCitrullus colocynthis fruits were studied on forty pregnant albino ratsdivided into four equal groups. The first three groups were given 1/4 LD 50of the active ingredient of the minced extract while the fourth group was keptas control. The results showed that the minced fruits extract of the planthas a toxicological effect on pregnant rats reproduction and induced skeletalabnormalities of their foeti. The microscopical picture of lung, liver andkidney of pregnant rats in the first three groups showed a varioushistopathological alterations
