RESUMO

Objective: to assess the effects of platelet rich plasma [PRP] with chitosan biodegradable film on full thickness wound healing in rat

Methods: this was an experimental study being performed in 2015 during a 4-month period. Twenty-four male white Wistar rats were divided into four groups of 12 rats each, randomly: Control group [SHAM] with creation of wounds and no treatment, PRP group with creation of wounds and application of one milliliter PRP, Chitosan group [CHIT] with dressing the wound with chitosan and CHIT/PRP group with application of one mL PRP and dressing the wound with chitosan. The wounds were created by cutting healthy skin. Wound size was measured on 6, 9, 12, 15, 18 and 21 post surgery and was compared between groups

Results: reduction in wound area, hydroxyproline contents and biomechanical parameters indicated there was significant difference [p=0.001] between group CHIT/PRP and other groups. Biomechanical testing was performed on day 9 post surgery in incisional model. Quantitative histological studies and mean rank of the qualitative studies demonstrated that there was significant difference [p<0.001] between group CHIT/PRP and other groups

Conclusion: PRP with chitosan have bene?cial effects on wounds repair and could be suggested for treating various types of wounds in animals and human being

RESUMO

One of the most important components of educational technology is an educational plan. Medical education needs to evaluate regular educational achievements particularly in clinical training. This study was carried out to investigate medical students achievement compare to educational prepuces in clinical training in Kermanshah Emam Reza hospital. In this descriptive-analytical study. 135 students in level of replacement and internship were selected through satisfied random sampling method during the first semester of year 2008. Data was collected using researchers planned questionnaire. 15 experts in medical education area confirmed its face and content validity. To confirm the reliability of the questionnaire were checked Spearma-Brown in a pilot study [r=0.86]. Data were analyzed using SPSS13. The finding indicated that 11.1% of students were not achieved, 85.2% moderately achieved and only 3.7% of them were completely achieved to educational aims in clinical training. No significant differences were observed between gender, year of study and level of study. However there were statistically significant difference associations between students' achievement to educational aims in clinical training and introducing training objectives, evaluation methods and having an introduction session at the beginning of clinical training as well as induction training in the emergency ward. This study reveals that there are still some spaces and opportunities for increasing the medical students' achievements to educational aims in clinical training. This study recommended that at the beginning of clinical training with use of: aim, evaluation methods, justify session presented to the students and use of emergency wards for education, could increase achievement to educational aims in clinical training in medical students

RESUMO

Beta-thalassemia is one of the most common hereditary diseases in Iran. While many national thalassemia preventive programs have been conducted in Iran, little thought was given to the educational effects of parents of children with thalassemia. This study aimed to investigate how education of parents by means of lecture and/or booklet may lead to reduction of the beta-thalssemia major disorder. Using three groups of parents [n = 30 each; two cases and one control group] of children with thalassemia and two educational methods [booklet and lecture] the effect of education on parents' awareness about the disorder was assessed. The results show that the educational programs have significant positive effect on increase in knowledge of parents about the disease. No significant differences were found between the three groups tested in terms of the mean age, gender, level of education, job, number of affected children, and age of the child. However young parents were better educated as regards knowledge about beta-thalassaemia disorders. Efficient educational programs initiated for the parents can help reduce beta-thalassemia major disorder
