RESUMO
A total of 650 randomly selected females with age range of 16 to 45 years [mean 27.40 years] were assessed for the presence of hirsutism. Out of these 517 [79.53%] showed hirsutism. In most of the cases more than one body site had thick terminal hair. Majority of the patients with hirsutism were in the age range of 23-34 years. Almost half of the hirsute females had other androgen associated disorders but the incidence of these disorders was not significantly higher than that seen in non-hirsute females
