RESUMO

The Aim of this study was to evaluate the effect manual perineal ironing out in the second stage of labour on perineal outcome. A Quasi-Experimental study was done at the labor word of Zagazizg and Benha university hospitals. Tow hundred women were: included, selected systematic randomly and divided into 2 equal groups, one received perineal ironing out [massage] during second stage of labor and the other receive routine hospital care Tools used for data collection were a structured interviewing sheet, labor progress, maternal and neonatal records to assess their condition during labour. The Results showed that intact perineum increased among the study group [39.4%] compared to [19%] in control group as well as the duration of second stage of labour was shorter in study group than control group. Also the second and third degrees tears were less among the study group [5% and 3%] respectively compared to [12%, and 5%] in the control group. The episiotomy rate was lower [40%] in the study group compared to [47%] in the control group. The study concluded that perineal massage was effective in reducing perineal trauma. According to the findings the researcher suggested demonstrating of perineal ironing out [massage] during 2nd stage of labor, in order to improve outcome during labor. Also further research in larger population to have generalizable results

Leg cramps is a common discomfort that occurs as a result of physiological changes during pregnancy. The nurse plays an important role in caring for woman with lower leg cramps during pregnancy. The Aim of the study was to explore the effect of healthy life style practice [HISP] for relieving leg cramps during pregnancy and pregnancy outcome Quasi-experimental study use 100 pregnant women recruited from both the outpatient clinic at Ain Shams Maternity, Zagazig university Hospital by purposeful random sample. Subjects were classified into two groups: study group [50 subjects] followed HISP program and control group [50 subjects] took routine hospital care. Data were collected through interviewing sheet, general examination life style and lower leg cramps and follow up sheet. Assessment of leg cramps was done by evaluating the frequency, number and and degree of leg cramps and subjective feeling. in the third visit, there was a significant difference was observed in study group than in control group regarding degree of leg cramps, [P <0.005], Also, there was a significant difference in study group than in control group regarding the subjective feeling about the leg cramps problem [P <0.05]. In conclusion, HISP in management of leg cramps has an important value in relieving symptoms of leg cramps during pregnancy. Recommendations of this study show that HISP program can relieve or control minor discomfort which annoys and worries the pregnant women also it can decrease adverse pregnancy outcome
