RESUMO

The purpose of this research is an attempt to know the effect of exhaustive physical effort on the levels of tri-iodothyronine [T3] and thyroxine [T4] in the blood of young aged soccer goal keeper and the older ones. Also this study aimd to correlate between the thyroid hormones and glucose levels before and after the exhaustive exercise in the two different age groups of athlets. The results indicates an elevated thyroid hormones levels after physical effort which may be attributed to the response and adaptation of the thyroid gland to this effort, on the otherhand glucose levels decreased in both groups after the exhaustive exercise

RESUMO

25 male athletes with a mean age of 20 years were included. All of the participants were subjected to exhaustive exercise on the ergometer. Cortisol and Insulin were estimated before and after the exercise by Radio immuno assay method to show the influence of a strenuous exercise on these hormones. Our results revealed an increased Cortisol level while Insulin concentration decreased after the exhaustive exercise
