RESUMO

Clinically considered as a pathologic scar remaining beyond 12 to 18 months, the keloid is characterised by a high recurrance rate after excision alone [50% - 100%]. Many therapeutic methods were used [Corticotherapy, pressotherapy], with disappointing results. The aim of this paper is to identify that post operative interstitial radiotherapy by iridium 192 [low dose rate] is effective for improving local control of keloids and preventing recurrence. From 1995 to 1998, 14 patients [18 keloids] were treated at the National Institute of Oncology - Rabat - Morocco. The average age is 27 years. The keloid was located on ear lobes in half of the cases. All patients had previously a trauma [injured, surgery]. 3 patients had multiple keloids. 10 patients [70% of cases] had keloid relapse after surgical excision. The treatment consisted of surgical excision followed immediately by brachytherapy with iridium 192. After 41 months of follow-up, we had obtained a good esthetic results in 7 cases [8 keloids]. 4 patients [5 keloids] recurred after an average delay of 14 months. 4 patients [5 keloids] were lost to follow-up

RESUMO

Lymphomas of gastro-intestinal tract are not common, their histo-pathologic study is very difficult and many classifications are used; we choose the Lennert's classification. In this study, we give more importance to the Radiotherapy even in advanced stages, because we find economical problems with Chemotherapy

RESUMO

Head and neck cancers are more common, they represent the 2nd place after female pelvic cancers in anti-cancer centers recruiting. Vital organs are always damaged, and surgery may be often mutilate. Radiation therapy was traditionally combined with surgery post operatively to eradicate residual disease. But, development of radiotherapy techniques, and recent knowledges of radiobiology, give a new place of this treatment: Radiation alone can eradicate small lesions in nasopharynx, oral cavity, larynx Pre operative radiotherapy can convert inoperable lesions in operable ones. Post operative irradiation can eradicate microscopic disease that a radical surgical procedure cannot remove. Complications may be avoidable by a rigourous technique of radiation

RESUMO

412 cases of nasopharyngeal carcinomas were seen in Bergonie's Center of Casablanca [the only center in function], between 04/01/80 to 08/31/83. It represents 4,76% of all malignant tumors diagnosed in the same period. This percentage seems to us very low, but, the majority of these tumors are not diagnosed, outside the big towns. We just try to study the epidemiological aspect of our series; there is a predominance of males [sex-ratio is 2,25], middle-age is 43 years with a big proportion of young people [24,6% are less than 30 years old]. The high "incidence" is observed in the north of the country. Advanced tumors are more common, 15% are with no possibility of treatment, 32.5% are T4, and 70% have had cervical nodes. 90% of our cancer are U.C.N.T. The results of the immunologic study do not exclude a viral [E.B.V] contribution. Prospective epidemiologic studies are indispensable to know the exact profile of this cancer in our country
