RESUMO

Background: There is a rise in the number of invisible mental health problems like aggression in a developing country like India. There is scarce data available on the prevalence of aggression in psychiatric patients which has been collected in a systematic manner. Objective: A pilot study to calculate the sample size for the prevalence of aggression in psychiatric outpatient setting in a General Hospital Psychiatric Unit using Modified Overt Aggression Scale in twenty patients. Results: The prevalence of aggression was 20% in the pilot study. Conclusions: This pilot study enabled us to calculate the sample size accurately. This also facilitated the investigator to handle the shortcomings and modify the research protocol accordingly.

RESUMO

Short-lasting unilateral neuralgiform headache with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) is included among trigeminal autonomic cephalalgias in the International Classification of Headache Disorders-2. Available literature suggests that it responds to anticonvulsants, particularly lamotrigine. However, management of partial responders is difficult and antiepileptic duo-therapy may be an answer to it. Nonetheless, to our knowledge, anticonvulsant combination has never been tried in partial responders to monotherapy. We are presenting a case of SUNCT that had overlapping symptoms with Short-lasting Unilateral Neuralgiform headache attacks with cranial Autonomic features and responded well only to the combination of lamotrigine with carbamazepine. However, lamotrigine had to be stopped as patient developed leucopenia and it resulted in partial recurrence of symptoms.

RESUMO

A number of patients attending a psychiatry out patient department present with headache and cranial autonomic symptoms (CAS) which include cluster headache (CH), shortlasting unilateral neuralgiform headache with conjunctival injection and tearing (SUNCT) or cranial autonomic features (SUNA) and paroxismal hemicrania (PH). The present case reports describe two cases of SUNCT which showed response to lamotrigine. In a day-today practice SUNCT should be kept in mind as effective therapy is available.

RESUMO

Personal Values are the reflection of the highest principle of mind and thought, and can even be said to be a part of spiritual domain of the individual. They play a very important role in the motivation of adolescents to varied behaviours. This study was done on 90 students to evaluate their religious, social, democratic, aesthetic, economic, knowledge, hedonistic, power, family prestige and health values. The results did not show any differences between male and female students on any of these values. This shows that no gender difference exists in ethical beliefs and both male and female use almost similar processes for evaluation of ethical situations.
