Objetivos: descrever a prevalência de comportamentos sexuais de risco para DST/AIDS entre estudantes da UFMG. Métodos: estudo descritivo, transversal, com amostragem aleatória, representativa, estratificada. A população alvo era de alunos que ingressaram na UFMG no primeiro semestre de 2004. O instrumento de coleta de dados utilizado foi um questionário aplicado em 362 alunos com idades entre 18 e 25 anos. Resultados: entre os entrevistados, 58,6% eram do gênero masculino, sendo que 65,7% dos universitários já haviam iniciado a vida sexual. A idade média na primeira relação foi de 16,4 anos, sendo mais precoce no sexo masculino. Entre os alunos sexualmente ativos, 69,2% relataram ter tido um a três parceiros sexuais durante toda a vida. Nos últimos dois meses, 60,9% tiveram um único parceiro e 30,3% não tiveram nenhum parceiro. A relação mais frequente foi pênis-vagina. Houve predomínio de heterossexualidade. Menos da metade dos sexualmente ativos declarou uso constante de preservativos nas relações sexuais. A maioria dos alunos não se enquadrou nos motivos apresentados para justificar o não-uso constante do preservativo.
Objectives: to describe the prevalence of sexual risk behavior for STD/AIDS among UFMG students. Methods: a descriptive transversal study, with representative, stratified random sampling. The target population was students who entered the UFMG in the first half of 2004. The data collection instrument was a questionnnaire applied to 362 students between 18 and 25 years. Results: Among the interviewed students, 58,6% were male, and 65,5% have already active sexual life. The average age at the first relationship was 16,4, the males were the most precocious. Among the sexually active students, 69,2% reported having had one to three sexual partners over a lifetime. 60,9% reported having had a single partner and 30,3% had no sexual partners at all in the last two months prior to the Interview. The most frequent relationship was penis-vagina. There was predominance of heterosexuality. Less than half of the sexually active students reported constant use of condom in the sexual relationships. Most students didn't fit the reasons presented for justifying the non- constant use of condom.
