RESUMO
Se estudió la aplicación de los índices H, G y R, basados en análisis de citas, para la identificación y caracterización de los autores líderes de una disciplina científica. Se escogió como campo de investigación experimental el área de la Comunicación. Se recuperó toda la producción científica mundial sobre la temática en revistas de corriente principal, durante el período comprendido entre los años 2001 y 2006. Se identificaron los 60 autores más productivos, y se calcularon los índices H, G y R para cada uno de ellos. Se analizó la distribución estadística de los indicadores, así como su utilidad en los procesos de evaluación de la investigación.
The current paper studied the application of H, G and R indices, based on citation analysis, for the identification and characterization of leader authors in a scientific discipline. The communication area was selected as an experimental research field. All the world scientific production on the subject, published in mainstream journals during the period 2001-2006, was retrieved. The 60 most productive authors were identified, and the H, G and R indices were calculated for each of them. The statistical distribution of the indicators, as well as their usefulness in the research assessment processes were analyzed.
