RESUMO

Objective To examine the effect of voice cues on nonfluent aphasia patients'performance in reading idioms. Methods Very familiar idioms were presented to aphasia patients on a computer screen either with or without an accompanying voice cue.The patients were asked to say the last two words of each idiom. The number of errors with the last two words of the idioms wag used to compare the patients'performance under the two conditions. Results The mean correct score was 9.46±13.08 when the idioms were presented without a voice cue,but 13.61±6.06 with the voice cue.The difference was statistically significant. Conclusion Voice cues can improve the speaking of familiar idioms for nonfluent aphasia patients.

RESUMO

Objective To study the related factors of intradiscal injection of collagenase. Methods One hundred and sixty eight patients with lumbar disc herniation were injected with collagenase(600U) under X ray monitoring. Assessment of efficacy of the treatment was made in 1 week, 3 months and 1 year follow up. The parameters such as the size, the type and the number of herniated disc were studied. The effect of stenosis was also analyzed. Results The overall success rate after 1 week, 3 months and 1 year following the therapy was 22.62%, 89.29% and 92.26% , respectively. Seven patients were treated with surgical operation during the follow up, 1 developed cauda equina syndromes at the third day after the injection. It was found that the size of herniation did not affect the efficacy of the treatment. The protruded disc got better result than bulge disc after 1 week following the chemonucleolysis ( P

RESUMO

Anti- inflmmatory effects of ferulofen(FL)and its mechanisms were studied. In the rat carrageenin pleurisy, FL produced a dose-related reduction of exudate volume, protein contents and leucocyte numbers in the exudate. FL also reduced activity of ?-glucuronidase in the exudate only in higher dose 3 h after carrageenin. These results suggest that FL has a marked anti-inflammatory action and its mechanisms may be similar to indomethacin. Ia vitro, FL caused a dose-dependent inhibition of hydrogen peroxide release from rat peritioneal macrophages ( M0 ) stimulated by opsonized zymosan. It suggested that its anti-inflammatory mechanisms may also relate to inhibitting cell activation. ?-receptor agonist ( Isoproterenol, ISO), in a ineffective dose, synergized with FL in inhibitting M H2O2 release and the synergic mechanism remains to be established.
