RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the application effect of case-based learning (CBL) based on the clinical case library of stomatology in standardized residency training for comprehensive stomatology. Methods:A total of 52 residents in Department of Stomatology, Chongqing Medical University, were given CBL teaching based on the clinical case library of comprehensive stomatology, and a questionnaire survey was performed to evaluate the teaching effect. Theoretical and skill assessments were performed before and after CBL teaching, and a comparative analysis was performed. SPSS 19.0 software was used for the t-test. Results:The questionnaire survey showed that CBL teaching based on the clinical case library of stomatology effectively improved the ability of independent learning [92.31% (48/52)], the interest in learning [88.46% (46/52)], and the ability for case diagnosis and the accuracy of investigation and judgment [94.23% (49/52)]. This method helped with the mastery and understanding of the theoretical knowledge in stomatology [96.15% (50/52)] and improved the abilities for expression and communication [84.62% (44/52)] and the ability to find and solve problems [94.23% (49/52)]. It also helped to stimulate the interest in scientific research and teaching [82.69% (43/52)] and create an active classroom atmosphere [82.69% (43/52)]. Among these residents, 94.23% (49/52) liked CBL teaching, and 88.64% (46/52) thought the setting of the case library was reasonable. After the application of CBL teaching, there were significant increases in theoretical score [from (66.74±4.25) points to (81.44±7.16) points] and skill examination score [from (64.00±3.14) points to (81.96±7.50) points].Conclusions:CBL teaching based on the case library of stomatology has a good teaching effect in the standardized residency training for comprehensive stomatology and can not only improve the theoretical and skill assessments of residents, but also improve their learning interest and clinical thinking ability.

RESUMO

Objective:To explore the application effect of task-driven teaching method combined with Sandwich teaching method in the standardized residency training of oral general practitioners. Methods:A total of 40 trainees of the standardized residency training of the Teaching and Research Section of Oral General Practice in Chongqing Medical University were randomly divided into experimental group and control group. The experimental group ( n=20) adopted task-driven teaching method combined Sandwich teaching method, and the control group ( n=20) adopted the traditional teaching method. The theory assessment, skills assessment and the teaching satisfaction questionnaire survey were conducted to evaluate the teaching effects. SPSS 19.0 software was used for t-test. Results:The theoretical test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group [(85.85±25.61) points vs. (74.35±10.53) points], and the difference between the two groups was statistically significant ( t=8.56, P < 0.001). The skill test scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than those of the control group [(86.50±18.20) points vs. (73.40±16.57) points], and the difference was statistically significant ( t=9.94, P<0.001). The results of the teaching satisfaction questionnaire showed that the experimental group had significantly higher scores than control group in such seven aspects as improving students autonomous learning ability and interest in learning, teamwork and interpersonal relationships, diagnostic ability of cases and the accuracy, doctor-patient expression and communication ability, ability to find and solve problems, stimulating interest in scientific research and teaching, mastering and understanding the oral theoretical knowledge and so on ( t=10.40, 10.40, 9.95, 5.43, 7.66, 8.08, 9.60, respectively, all P<0.001). Task-driven teaching combined with Sandwich teaching method stimulated the learning interest of trainees and improved their comprehensive ability. Conclusion:Task-driven teaching combined with Sandwich teaching method has greatly improved the teaching effect of standardized residency training of oral general practitioners.

RESUMO

Objective Observe the effect of Total paeony glycoside(TPG)has on the T-cell immune action and apoptosis process of Oral lichen planus patients and analyze the mechanism. Methods 20 OLP patients are recruited into this experiment, each is treated with TPG,and their clinical effect is taken notes of.Observe the apoptosis of OLP lesions from each of the patients before and after the treatment, compare the apoptosis condition and the expression of CD4 + ,CD8 + ,and the CD4 +/CD8 + ratio,to analyze the role TPG plays on the immune expression of T-cell and the effect on apoptosis process. Results TPG improve the clini-cal manifestation of OLP patients significantly, resulting in the decrease of reticulum and erosive areas, and the pain index is de-creased obviously. The expression of CD4 + and CD8 + are decreased in OLP lesions after the treatment of TPG.Conclusion TPG may induce the apoptosis of the T-cell in lamina propria of the OLP lesions to regulate the T-cell immune action of OLP patients, and slow the development of inflammatory process of OLP,and in that way,TPG shows its potential in treating OLP,and this ex-periment can provide the primary evidence.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVETo investigate the feasibility and accuracy of length measurement of in vivo teeth by using cone beam CT (CBCT).

METHODSBefore orthodontic extraction, 109 vital premolars from 40 participants were scanned by using CBCT and reconstructed by using InVivoDental software. Buccal-lingual sectional images along the long axis of teeth were then acquired, and the crown, root, and tooth length were measured separately. After careful extraction and fixation, the corresponding length of the same tooth was measured by using a digital caliper. CBCT measurement accuracy was then verified by using physical measurements as reference.

RESULTSCBCT and the physical method did not obtain significantly different measurements of the root, crown, and tooth length of experimental teeth (P=0.790, P=0.621, P=0.657, respectively), and the measurements were found to be consistent. The 95% limits of agreement of root, crown, and tooth length were -1.10 mm to 1.13 mm, -1.00 mm to 0.96 mm, and -1.00 mm to 1.05 mm, respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe difference between CBCT and the physical method was not significant, and good consistency was shown. CBCT could be applied in noninvasive measurement of in vivo teeth.

RESUMO

Objective To explore the role of team-based learning(TBL)in the teaching of pe-riodontics for undergraduates. Methods Totally 38 2008 grade undergraduates majored in stomatology were divided into six groups according to previous test scores. Individual test, group test and group re-sponder were conducted successively . Average test scores before and intra class were calculated and questionnaires survey was conducted after the course. Results There was no significant correlation be-tween average test scores intra class and basic knowledge and preview effect(r=0.028,P>0.05). Ques-tionnaire survey demonstrated that learning motivation, learning interests, knowledge mastering and com-munication ability of students were significantly improved. Conclusion TBL teaching promotes the class-room atmosphere and improves team collaboration and learning enthusiasm. Students show high accep-tance for this new teaching modes,so it can be tried in the teaching of stomatology.

RESUMO

To observe the dynamic change of parasites in the brains of BALB/c mice infected with Angiostrongylus cantonensis in order to explore its possible mechanism of pathogenesis', BALB/c mice infected with the III stage larvae of A.cantonensis were observed and killed in different times after infection. The number and distribution of parasites in the brains of the infected mice were observed microscopically and macroscopically. It was found that the larvae of A.cantonensis were distributed in the cerebrum and cerebellum of mice in accordance with the rule of parasitization of worms in the host, i.e.multiplication at first and then dropping in number. And the places where the parasites located were damaged due to mechanical action or inflammatory reactions. The time of onset of symptoms, such as ataxia and twitch was coincided with the dynamic changes in the brains of the infected mice.
