RESUMO
La investigación científica es un indicador de la calidad de los procesos en el ámbito universitario, por lo que debe ser incrementada en virtud de los resultados de los trabajos realizados por los docentes investigadores y estudiantes. El objetivo del presente trabajo es realizar una revisión bibliográfica para conocer el estado de la investigación científica en el contexto universitario, particularmente el ecuatoriano. Se consultaron fuentes de educación superior y educación médica, relacionados con el tema, en bases de datos electrónicas como: Latindex, SciELO, Scopus, LILACS.
Scientific research is an indicator of the quality of the processes in the university environment, so it must be increased by virtue of the results of the work carried out by the researching professors and students. The aim of the present work is to carry out a bibliographic review to know the state of scientific research in the university context, particularly the Ecuadorian one. Sources of higher education and medical education, related to the subject, were consulted in electronic databases such as: Latindex, SciELO, Scopus, LILACS.
