RESUMO

A study of the patterns of Thai aortic arch was done on 129 cadavers which resulted in the discovery of 5 types of aortic arch that can be categorized as A, B, C, D and G. The type most commonly found was A (84.5%), with types B, and C following (9.3 and 4.6%). Types D and G seldom appeared (0.8% each). The variety of types and percentage of Thai aortic arch were similar to those found in English people. Among Japanese, the percentage of these five types of aortic arch was found to be close to Thai and English. Additionally, types E and F of aortic arch were recognised to exits in Japanese as well. To the contrary, types A and C were found to be fewer among American white and negro, then those in the former three groups. In consequence, type B appeared more frequently. According to former reports, there was evidence of the appearance of three more types of aortic arch among Thai people. These three types were G, H, and N:- three cases for type G, one for type H, and two for type N. Moreover, there was only one case of the aortic ring which was found at Department of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, Mahidol University.
