RESUMO

To explore a new underlying molecular mechanism of Huangkui Extract Powder (HKEP) in the alleviation of diabetic nephropathy (DN). Murine immortalized podocytes were divided into (i) normal glucose (NG, 5.6 mM), (ii) NG + HKEP (0.45 g/L), (iii) HG, and (iv) HG + HKEP (0.45 g/L) groups. MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to detect the podocyte proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle. Cell viability was inhibited, and apoptosis increased in(iii) HG group compared with (i) NG group (p<0.05). mRNA and protein expression of nephrin and podocin significantly decreased in (iii) HG group compared with (i) NG group (p<0.05). When compared with (iii) HG group, (iv) HG + HKEP group had higher cell viability, lower apoptotic rate and higher mRNA and protein expression of nephrin and podocin (p<0.05). HKEP can attenuate HG-induced podocyte damage, which may be one of the mechanisms of HKEP for attenuating DN.

Objective To observe the effects of Qingjin Granules on methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) pneumonia mice. Methods Pneumonia model was prepared by intranasal drip of bacterial fluid. Experimental mice were randomly divided into control group, model group, Western medicine group and TCM group. On the third day after infection, the Western medicine group was treated with linezolid, and the TCM group was given Qingjin Granules for gavage. The control and model group were given the same amount of normal saline for gavage. Body weight and clinical manifestations every day of each mouse after infected were recorded. Lung scans at day 3 and day 10 were taken; the pathological changes trough HE staining were observed; microbial load of lung tissue was detected. Results There were significant weight losses on mice except control group on the first day after infection. CT scan showed that the lung inflammation was filled with mice on the third day after infection. The lung inflammation in the TCM group was more reduced than model group, with less inflammatory exudate and only scattered inflammatory exudates. Meanwhile, pulmonary inflammatory pathology was reduced and the amount of bacteria were reduced in the lungs of TCM group (P<0.05), but it was less effective than linezolid (P<0.05). Conclusion Qingjin Granules can significantly reduce the microbial load of the lung and infiltration of inflammatory cells in lung tissue of mice, achieving the efficacy of treating MRSA pneumonia in mice.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To analyze the data of patients with clinical stage T1a lung adenocarcinoma and find the predictive factors associated with lymph node metastasis.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>From January to June 2012, 271 patients with small nodules of peripheral lung adenocarcinoma were enrolled in the retrospective review. There were 105 male and 112 female patients, with an average age of (61 ± 11)years (range 32-85 years). The data were collected including age, gender, smoking history, carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA), imaging findings, surgical procedure, pleural involvement, symptoms, tumor size, pathological classification, pathologic stage, maximum standardized uptake value(SUVmax) and lymph node metastasis. The predictive factors of lymph node metastasis in clinical factors were detected by univariate and multivariate analysis.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>By preoperative thin-section CT, 35 patients were categorized as pure ground-grass opacity(GGO), 11 cases of atypical adenomatous hyperplasia, 24 cases of adenocarcinoma in situ, with no lymph node metastasis. Categorized as mixed ground-glass opacities in 89 patients, 84 patients (94.4%) had no lymph node metastasis, only 5 patients (6.0%) with lymph node metastasis. Categorized as solid nodules in 93 patients, a total of 28 cases (30.1%) had lymph node metastasis. There were statistically significant difference between three groups (χ(2) = 23.41, P < 0.001) . By univariate analysis, we found that the predictive factors of lymph node metastasis were as follows: tumor size > 1 cm (χ(2) = 9.021, P < 0.003) , imaging performance with mixed GGO or solid nodules (χ(2) = 23.41, P < 0.000) , CEA > 5 µg/L (χ(2) = 15.541, P < 0.000) and PET-CT SUVmax > 5 (χ(2) = 0.644, P < 0.000). By multivariate analysis, we found that imaging performance (mixed GGO or solid nodules) was the independent predictor of lymph node metastasis in clinical factors (OR = 166.116, 95%CI:18.161-25.19, P < 0.001) .</p><p><b>CONCLUSIONS</b>Patients of pure GGO generally do not have lymph node metastasis. Tumor diameter > 1 cm, imaging findings with the mixed GGO or solid nodules, carcinoembryonic antigen CEA > 5 µg/L, PET-CT SUVmax > 5 are predictive factors of lymph node metastasis in which imaging is independent predictor.</p>

RESUMO

Through researches of channels and collaterals and clinical practice of many years, the authors understand that Chinese medicine, which considers the human body as an interrelated, mutual constraints, whole, dynamic living system, has gradually become an important part of modern medicine. Channels and collaterals are a closed loop system which is communicated and linked by energy and information in the form of electromagnetic oscillation, reflecting many characteristics similar to quantum. Channels and collaterals are not a fixed organizational structure. Studies on channel and collaterals find that the track of the propagated sensation along channels (PSC) have the phenomenon drifting about. This exactly reflects the law of channels dynamically running. By information triggering and living resonance, channels and collaterals bring into play entirely regulative action. The innovative treatment of channels and collaterals followed by characteristics and laws of quantum can get a better curative effect. Theory of channels in the position of quantum information medical science provides an important breach for modernization of Chinese medicine.

RESUMO

Objective To detect the argyrophilic proteins in nucleolar organizer regions(Ag-NORs) that express rDNA and rRNA proliferation of T lymphocytes before chemotherapy and after complete remission(CR) in children with primary acute leukemia(AL).Methods The argyrophilic granules area of NOR/nuclear area(I.S%) of T lymphocytes was detected by image analysis system in peripheral blood of 42 patients before chemotherapy and after CR and 30 normal children. Results I.S% in the patients before chemotherapy(5.06%?1.36%) were significantly lower than those in the healthy donors(7.51%?1.06%)(t=8.238 P0.05).Conclusion These results suggest that decrease of Ag-NORs expresses the evidence for tumour induced suppression of immune function of T cells in children with AL prior to treatment.

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To probe into essence of meridians.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>To examine meridians, acupoints, brain and relative organs by SQUID and fMRI, and to analyze the results.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>A relative stable circular current of electromagnetic and chemical oscillation along the low electric resistance pathway was found. Competition of different frequency oscillation often yield resonance in some positions of the human body so as to form "oscillatory network" and "strange point" with the electromagnetic and chemical oscillation circulating dominant position in the body, which is possibly meridians and acupoints with regulative actions. The brain is the center of meridians. In different physiological or pathological process, characteristic changes and negatively correlative phenomenon of electromagnetic spectrum at acupoints and the brain are possibly key mechanisms in dynamic regulation of meridians.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To expound the relationship between meridians and the human two information systems, material system and energy system.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Summarize and analyze the results of experimental and other studies.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The carrier of the meridian is human material system. The nerve, body fluid, microcirculation and chemical factors take part in meridian circulation, and it must depend on the energy information system which works mainly at the form of electromagnetic and chemical oscillation with functions of physiological regulation and pathological repair. Oscillation parameters include various signals of regulating development and physiologic activities, and coordinate functions of organs and tissues. The meridians have the "quantum" characteristics, material particles coexist and exchange each other with electromagnetic and chemical oscillation characteristic.</p>

RESUMO

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To approach to the intrinsic mechanism of meridian regulation.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Summarize and analyze the results of the author's studies and the development of other studies about life regulating and meridian at home and abroad.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The regulating mechanism of meridians has two levels. The macroscopic regulation center is the brain, and the microscopic regulation base is the energy and informational current that depends on electromagnetic and chemical oscillation mainly. The meridian regulation is the process of the energy and informational system communicating and implicating with the material system. Neuroendocrine is the link of communicating and implicating, and Ca2+ oscillation frequencies exert intermediary function between the two systems.</p>
