RESUMO

One hundred and seven ruminant animals were found to harbour trichostrongy1, ascarid and trichurid nematodes. They were I/M injected with Stronglinject L [Levamisole hydrochloride, virbac] at a dose of 1 ml/10kg B.W. The drug caused a markedly significant drop in the mean feacal egg count particularly that of trichostronglyl worms. The efficacy rates were 85-100% against Haemonchus sp., Bunostomum sp., Cooperia sp., Nematodirus sp. and Trichostrongylus sp. while stronglinject L proved to be highly effective against toxocara vitulorum in buffalo calves [91.7%] it was ineffective against Trichuris sp., in sheep or camels where the efficacy rates were 13.7% and 15.7% respectively. The drug was non ovicidal and there was no any untoward effect on the treated animals but unexpected improvement in the health conditions has been noticed

RESUMO

Examination of 100 rabbits by carbon immunoassay using mixed antigen of Encephalitozoom cuniculi and toxoplasma gondii revealed that 68% and 20% of rabbits were positive to these parasites respectively. Also, examination of 50 rabbits for E. cuniculi using E. cuniculi antigen suspension showed that 33 [66%] of them were seropositive to this parasite

RESUMO

Faecal samples collected from the rectum of 4 Zariby kids [2 months of age] suffering from severe diarrhea, were examined for Eimeria, globidium and cryptosporidia oocysts. The effect of temperature and dessication in sunlight and shade on the development of E. arloingi, E. ninakohlyakimovae, E. faurei and E. parva was studied. Some chemical agents were also used to study their effect on the sporulation of the oocysts

RESUMO

The morphology of 1st and 2nd stage larvae of Heterakis gallinarum removed from their egg shells was described. It has been experimentally proved that embryonated eggs containing first stage larvae did not hatch in the infested chicks. The hatched 2nd stage larvae were found at the distal third of the small intestine. It was noticed that these larvae having marked increase in size, morphological alteration and rapid sexual development in comparison with those obtained from the embryonated eggs mechanically
