RESUMO

The present study examines the effect of noise which is a type of stress on the different layers of the adrenal gland. Sixteen adult white rats; both males and females weighting 200-250 gm were used. The animals were divided into two groups eight rats each, the first group was used as a control, the second group was exposed to sound six hours daily for ten days. Then the animals were killed and the suprarenal glands were extracted. Samples of about 1 cm thickness were taken from the adrenal cortex and adrenal medulla. The samples were prepared for electron microscope study. It was found that the noise induced significant changes in the cortex in the form of degenerative changes of some cells in zona glomerulosa. Also the zona fasiculata showed dilatation of the cristea of the mitochondria also the zona reticularis showed some dilatation of crestea of mitochondria and degeneration of some cells but the most significant changes after noise exposure were present in the medulla where the catecholamine granules were markedly decreased after releasing from the medulla, also it showed vacuolation in the cytoplasm and degenerated of its mitochondria The aim of this study was to know the effect of noise on the ultrastructural of the adrenal gland

RESUMO

Thirty adult male albino rats were used throughout the work. The animals were divided into three groups: the first group was used as control, the second group was injected with 0.5 ml of interferon solution subcutaneously three times weekly for six months, while the third group was left for one month after injections with interferon for recovery. Six months post injection, the islet tissue shows selective damage and disappearance of epithelial cells of the peripheral ducts in majority of animals. These ducts were lined only by basement membrane, few mother cells of A-cells were only found. The process of proliferation either sprouting or mitosis stopped completely. The islet tissue in the majority of animals degenerated completely with heavy lymphocytic infiltration while others appeared partly healthy. One month post last interferon injection, the islet recovered and returned to normal morphology. The rise of glucose in the treated animals at the time of sacrifice, after 6 months, was not significant and was not considered diabetic

RESUMO

This study described the effect of tenotomy on the ultrastrucutre of muscle spindle of adult male rat by using electron microscope. The right hind limbs of adult male Wister rats were tenotomized at both proximal and distal ends for periods of five days, one, two and three weeks. The samples were processed for electron microscopy. After tenotomy, degenerative changes occurred in the intrafusal muscle fibres [IMF] and axons which innervated them, and the intracapsular spaces also were altered. These changes progressed with time. At five days after tenotomy, no signs of myofibrillar degradation were observed. At one week after tenotomy, focal areas of myofibrillar disruption with loss of thick and thin filments were observed in addition to an increased spaces between muscle fibres and capsule. The capsule surrounding the intrafusal fibres appeared convoluted. At two weeks after tenotomy, recovery of both intrafusal muscle fibres and capsule occurred. Complete necrosis of intrafusal muscle fibers were absent
