RESUMO
Los desastres han estado asociados a la historia de la humanidad, la naturaleza no ha cesado de recordar al hombre su poder destructivo. El conocido impacto y consecuencias negativas de los diferentes tipos de desastres naturales han determinado progresivamente la necesidad de la mitigación y de la preparación de toda la sociedad, a los efectos de actuar antes, durante y después en el ámbito local, en el país o en el cumplimiento de misiones internacionalistas. La aparición de estos fenómenos naturales se pierde en la noche de los tiempos y ningún progreso previsible de la ciencia será capaz de protegernos eficazmente de ellos en el futuro. Se trata, por consiguiente, de adoptar medidas que limiten, ya que es imposible suprimirlos. El presente trabajo constituyó un estudio de revisión donde se exponen las consecuencias de algunos desastres naturales en la sociedad, así como el papel que le corresponde a la misma en la prevención y enfrentamiento ante estos fenómenos.
Disasters have been associated to the history of the human kind. Nature has not stopped of recollecting men its destructive power. Known impact and the negative consequences of the different kinds of natural disasters have progresively determined the necesity of the mitigation, and of preparing all the society to act - before, during and after in local surroundings, in the nation or during international missions. The begining of these natural phenomena is lost in the dark of the times, and no previsible scientific progress will be able of eficacious protect us in the future. So, we have to take measures to limit them, because it is not possible to eliminate them. This is a reviewing work, where we expose the consequences of some natural disasters on the society, and also the role of the society in preventing and facing these phenomena.
