RESUMO

Mycoplasma pneumoniae is an atypical bacterium that can cause a great variety of respiratory infections. Ocular involvement other than conjunctivitis are uncommon, and papillitis have infrequently been reported. RESUMO

Isosporosis is a digestive parasitosis that occurs on a sporadic basis in our country. It is caused by a protozoan of coccidia class: Isospora belli. Between the years 2000 and 2004, five cases of isosporosis were diagnosed in our laboratory in five AIDS patients. Its prevalence among tunisian patients suffering from Human Iminunodeficiency Virus [HIV] infection in our series is about 1.41%. Main clinical manifestations consisted of acute diarrhea, with malabsorption syndrome in one case. Medical management based on specific antibiotics [sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprime], is efficient in avoiding recurrent episodes. However, recurrency remain frequent as long as immunity remains compromised

RESUMO

We report 16 cases of pyogenic brain abcess occurring in 14 men and 2 women in whom mean age is 32.5 years. Fever, headache and vomiting are found in two thirds of cases, and impaired consciousness are present in half of the patients. Bacterial meningitis is the supposed source of infection in 69% of cases. Abcesses of the cerebellar and the frontal lobes are the most common. Bacterial analysis find gram positive cocci in 4 cases and gram negative bacilli in 4 cases respectively. The outcome is specified in 13 cases. A complete cure is obtained in 9 patients from whom 6 are managed with antibiotics alone. 4 patients are dead

RESUMO

We report 9 cases of renal abcess occurring in 7 men and 2 women who are 25.5 year-old. The clinical picture is not specific. Ultra-sonography made the diagnosis in all cases. The collection is onesided, localized more often in the upper pole. Intravenous pyelogram showed mass renal syndrome in 4 cases. Computerized tomography scan showed collection diffusion in the perirenal space in 2 cases. Staphylococcus is the only isolated bacteria found in the needle aspiration pus, blood and urineculture. Management is obtained in all cases after antibiotic therapy without percutaneous drainage on an average 49.6 days

RESUMO

The authors studied the infection 's profile of 135 hospitalized patients with diabetes mellitus. 77patients [57%]are insulino-dependent and 58 [43%] are non insulino-dependent. The infection appears in 158 episodes, it's bacteriemic 's infection in 144 episodes [91.1%] and viral's infection in 14 episodes [8.9%]. Among the bacteriemic 's infections, a non tuberculous pathology exists in 133 episodes [92.4%],and tuberculosis in 11 episodes [7.6%]. the bacteriologic 's profile is reprented in particular by the enterobacteria [75.3%] specially the colibacille [61%]. The evolutif 's profile notes a relapse in 21 patients [15.6%] and a mortality in 14 cases [10.4%]
