RESUMO

Cough variant asthma (CVA) is a chronic respiratory disease with cough as its main symptom. The occurrence of CVA is closely related to non-specific airway inflammation, and its pathogenesis involves environmental, genetic, immune, and other factors. In recent years, the advantages of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in the treatment of CVA have attracted the attention of experts and scholars in China and abroad, especially its prominent role in regulating immune balance, relieving cough symptoms in CVA patients, and reducing recurrence. T Helper cells 1 (Th1), T helper cells 2 (Th2), T helper cells 17 (Th17), and regulatory T cells (Treg) are derived from CD4+ T cells. Immune imbalance of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg is a new hotspot in the pathogenesis of CVA and a potential key target in the treatment of CVA by TCM. Th cell subsets are in dynamic balance under physiological conditions, maintaining respiratory immune homeostasis in which pro-inflammatory cytokines and anti-inflammatory cytokines are balanced. Immature helper T cells (Th0) can be differentiated into Th1, Th2, Th17, Treg, and other cell subsets due to cytokine types in the microenvironment in the stage of CVA maturation. The proliferation of Th2 cells leads to eosinophilic airway inflammation. Excessive differentiation of Th17 cells induces neutrophil airway inflammation. Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg cells are mutually restricted in number and function, and the immune imbalance of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg is easy to aggravate the generation of inflammatory response. Restoring immune balance is particularly important for the airway anti-inflammatory therapy of CVA. In this paper, the imbalance of Th1/Th2 and Th17/Treg and the pathogenesis of CVA were systematically expounded. Meanwhile, the latest research on the regulation of immune imbalance by TCM compound, single TCM, and its effective ingredients in the treatment of CVA was reviewed. It provides ideas and references for revealing the scientific connotation of TCM regulating immune balance therapy of CVA, as well as the development of clinical treatment and basic research of CVA.

RESUMO

@#Increased glycolysis is a major feature of metabolic reprogramming in cancer.Glycolysis provides not only energy for cancer cells but also necessary precursors for biosynthesis, which is important for promoting tumor growth.Cancer cells meet their own needs by regulating glycolytic enzymes, which play an active role in promoting cancer survival, metastasis, and invasion.Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), as a key enzyme in glycolysis, consists of two subunits: lactate dehydrogenase A (LDHA) and lactate dehydrogenase B (LDHB).LDHA is known to play a key role in aerobic glycolysis and has been extensively studied, whereas less has been done on LDHB.However, at present, more and more reports have revealed the important effects of LDHB on the progression of various cancers.A large number of studies have shown that LDHB is abnormally expressed in a variety of cancers, which is related to the malignant progression of tumors. The article reviews the research progress of LDHB in recent ten years, including its regulatory mechanism in tumor, its relationship with cancer development and its role as a biomarker in clinical diagnosis of cancer, which provides some insight for further investigation of the mechanism of LDHB in cancer research.

RESUMO

ObjectiveTo systematically review the clinical experience of four sessions of Masters of Traditional Chinese Medicine and two sessions of National Famous Chinese Medicine Practitioners in treating ulcerative colitis (UC). Data mining and analysis were conducted to clarify the diagnosis and treatment ideas and characteristics of prescription used by these famous doctors in treating UC. MethodsRelevant literature on the treatment of UC by renowned doctors was retrieved from the establishment of the database until March 31, 2023. The literature was collected from databases such as China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), Wanfang Data Knowledge Service Platform, Chinese Science and Technology Periodicals Database, and China Biomedical Literature Database. The data mining techniques including frequency analysis, association rules, and cluster analysis were conducted using the Ancient and Modern Medical Case Cloud Platform V2.3.5. ResultsA total of 157 literatures were included in this study, including 115 clinical case data. The study found that UC can be categorized into 14 types of syndrome patterns for treatment, including large intestine dampness-heat syndrome (75,65.22%), syndrome of dampness stagnancy due to spleen deficiency (23, 20.00%), spleen-kidney yang deficiency syndrome (21, 18.26%). The main affected organs were the spleen (85, 73.91%) and large intestine (75, 65.22%), and they were closely related to liver (24, 20.87%) and the kidney (21, 18.26%). The predominant pathogenic factors were dampness (83, 72.17%) , heat (80, 69.57%) and qi deficiency (65, 56.52%). The treatment involved 30 kinds of treatment methods, including heat-clearing and dampness-draining method (75, 65.22%), pleen-tonifying and qi-boosting method (25,21.74%) and spleen-invigorating and dampness-transforming method (23, 20.00%). The medication involved 187 ingredients, with the most commonly used being heat-clearing herbs (37, 19.79%) and tonifying herbs (27, 14.44%). The tastes of the herbs were mostly sweet (85, 45.45%) , bitter (80, 42.78%) , and pungent (71, 37.97%). The association rules revealed 16 high-frequency combinations mainly composed of Huanglian (黄连), Baishao (白芍) and Gancao (甘草) along with Baizhu (白术), Fuling (茯苓), Muxiang (木香) and Danggui (当归). ConclusionFamous doctors are skilled in diagnosing and treating UC based on the differentiation of the zang-fu organs and qi-blood. The key pathological mechanism is “spleen deficiency as the root, and large intestine damp-heat as the manifestation”. The core treatment approach is “heat-clearing, spleen-tonifying, and dampness-draining”, with the inclusion of “regulating qi and blood, and balancing cold and heat”.

RESUMO

Objective:To investigate the value of ultrasound findings in the diagnosis of lower extremity arterial disease in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and correlate it with clinical factors. Methods:A total of 535 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who received treatment in Taiyuan Second People's Hospital from January 2016 to June 2019 underwent color Doppler ultrasound examination (T2DM group). Vascular inner diameter, intima-media thickness, atherosclerotic plaque formation, lumen stenosis or occlusion, and hemodynamic characteristics were determined in patients with type2 diabetes mellitus compared with those in 107 patients with non-type 2 diabetes mellitus (non-T2DM group). These parameters were correlated with the course of the disease, blood glucose level, concomitant hypertension or not, and clinical Wagner grade. Results:The incidences of intima-media thickening, atherosclerotic plaque, stenosis, and occlusion of lower extremity arteries were 69.9%, 89.0%, 77.0% and 11.6% respectively, in the T2DM group, which were significantly higher than 41.1%, 78.5%, 72.0%, and 1.9% respectively in the non-T2DM group ( χ2 = 32.52, P < 0.001; χ2 = 8.76, P = 0.003; χ2 = 27.77, P < 0.001). With the prolongation of the course of T2DM, the incidence of arterial lesions in the lower extremities increased ( P < 0.001). The incidences of intima-media thickening, atherosclerotic plaque, stenosis, and occlusion of lower extremity arteries were significantly greater in the poor blood glucose control group and non-hypertension group compared with the good blood glucose control group and hypertension group (all P < 0.05). The degree of lower extremity arterial stenosis in T2DM patients was related to Wagner's grade. As the degree of stenosis increased, Wagner's grade increased correspondingly and significantly ( P < 0.001). Conclusion:Color Doppler ultrasound examination has an important value in evaluating lower extremity arterial lesions in patients with T2DM. The degree of arterial lesions in the lower extremities of T2DM patients is correlated with the course of the disease, blood glucose levels, concomitant hypertension, and clinical Wagner grade. Color Doppler ultrasound examination has an important clinical significance in evaluating the degree of vascular lesions and guiding early interventions in the clinic.

RESUMO

This study intended to evaluate the efficacy and safety of single Hirudo prescriptions in the treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease(ICVD) by frequency network Meta-analysis and traditional Meta-analysis. CNKI, Wanfang, VIP, SinoMed, PubMed, EMbase, and Cochrane Library databases were searched to collect the randomized controlled trial(RCT) of single Hirudo prescriptions for ICVD from the inception of the databases to May 2022. The quality of the included literature was evaluated by Cochrane risk of bias tool. Finally, 54 RCTs and 3 single Hirudo prescriptions were included. Statistical analysis was conducted by RevMan 5.3 and Stata SE 15. Network Meta-analysis showed that in terms of the clinical effective rate, the surface under the cumulative ranking curve(SUCRA) of intervention measures was as follows: Huoxue Tongmai Capsules+conventional treatment>Maixuekang Capsules+conventional treatment>Naoxuekang Capsules+conventional treatment>conventional treatment. Traditional Meta-analysis revealed that in terms of the safety of ICVD treatment, Maixuekang Capsules+conventional treatment had higher safety than conventional treatment alone. According to the network Meta-analysis and traditional Meta-analysis, it was found that conventional treatment combined with single Hirudo prescriptions improved the clinical efficacy of ICVD patients, and compared with that of conventional treatment alone, the incidence of adverse reactions of combined treatment was low and the safety was high. However, the methodological quality of the articles included in this study was generally low and there were large differences in the number of articles on the three combined medication. Therefore, the conclusion of this study needed to be confirmed by subsequent RCT.

RESUMO

Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the third most lethal cancer and leading cause of cancer mortality worldwide. A key driver of CRC development is colon inflammatory responses especially in patients with inflammatory bowl disease (IBD). It has been proved that Panax notoginseng saponins (PNS) have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-tumor effects. The chemopreventive and immunomodulatory functions of PNS on colitis-associated colorectal cancer (CAC) have not been evaluated. This present study was designed to study the potential protective effects of PNS on AOM/DSS-induced CAC mice to explore the possible mechanism of PNS against CAC. Our study showed that PNS significantly alleviated colitis severity and prevented the occurrence of CAC. Functional assays revealed that PNS relieved immunosuppression of Treg cells in the CAC microenvironment by inhibiting the expression of IDO1 mediated directly by signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) rather than phosphorylated STAT1. Ultimately, Rh1, one of the PNS metabolites, exhibited the best inhibitory effect on IDO1 enzyme activity. Our study showed that PNS exerted significant chemopreventive function and immunomodulatory properties on CAC. It could reduce macrophages accumulation and Treg cells differentiation to reshape the immune microenvironment of CAC. These findings provided a promising approach for CAC intervention.

RESUMO

Objective:To learn about the epidemiological characteristics and trends of brucellosis in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (Ningxia), and to provide reference for formulation of brucellosis prevention strategies and identification of key areas. Methods:The case data from 2004 to 2019 were collected from the "China Disease Prevention and Control Information System Infectious Disease Monitoring and Reporting System", and descriptive epidemiological methods were used to analyze the distribution of cases (time, population, and regional distribution). Results:From 2004 to 2019, a total of 15 337 human brucellosis cases and 1 death case were reported in Ningxia. The average annual incidence rate was 15.21/100 000, ranging from 0.02/100 000 to 44.83/100 000. The difference in incidence rate in different years was statistically significant (χ 2 = 14 731.60, P < 0.001). Among them, from 2004 to 2010, the incidence rate was low, with an average annual incidence rate of 1.32/100 000; from 2011 to 2019, it entered a high incidence stage, with an average annual incidence rate of 24.83/100 000. Brucellosis occured in every month of the year, and the onset time was mainly in March to September, accounting for 71.60% (10 981/15 337); seasonal indexes from April to August was all > 100%, with obvious seasonality. The age of onset mainly concentrated in 20 - < 70 years old, accounting for 89.60% (13 742/15 337); males were significantly more than females, with a sex ratio of 2.66 ∶ 1.00 (11 141/4 196); the occupations were mainly farmers and herdsmen, accounting for 86.03% (13 194/15 337). Since 2014, cases had been reported in 22 counties (districts, cities) in the region, all of which were all severely endemic areas; the top three counties (districts) with incidence rate were Yanchi County (103.73/100 000), Hongsibao District (56.01/100 000) and Tongxin County (29.18/ 100 000), respectively, the difference between different regions was statistically significant (χ 2 = 3.80, P < 0.001). Conclusions:The incidence rate of brucellosis in Ningxia is on the rise, and the epidemic situation is severe. It is recommended to carry out active and effective intervention measures in areas with high incidence of brucellosis to curb the further spread of brucellosis.

RESUMO

The internal organs and meridians were associated with Yin and Yang, five elements, six qi, and time and space, based on the holistic view of heaven, earth and human, according to Huangdi Neijing. The syndrome differentiation system of six meridians and Zang Fu meridians were established by Shanghan Zabing Lun, on the basis of the three Yin, three Yang, six meridians, and five Zang system in Huangdi Neijing. We put forward the concept of the six meridians syndrome differentiation system of circular motion, considering that the six meridians syndrome differentiation system actually implies the theory of circular motion. The syndrome differentiation system was constructed with the circular model of one qi circulating around the road, rising left and falling right, corresponding up and down, and maintaining conservation in the middle as the core, integrating Yin and Yang, five elements, six qi, Zang Fu and meridians, qi, blood and body fluid, and the integration of heaven, earth and human, focusing on "disease location and disease nature", taking classical prescriptions as the main treatments, and cooperating with external treatments such as acupuncture and moxibustion. We organically combined the circular motion with the syndrome differentiation of the six meridians, systematically interpreted the physiological bases, pathological changes, progressive patterns, and the treatments, based on syndrome differentiation, by inheriting the classical thinking mode of Hetu, Luoshu,Zhouyi, Huangdi Neijing, ShennongHerbal Classic, and Shanghan Zabing Lun.

RESUMO

Aim To study the role of Cx43 hemichannel in rats with acute incision pain. Methods Adult male rats were randomly divided into normal saline group(C group), incision pain group(I group), Gap19 group. Western blot was used to determine the expression of Cx43 and GFAP at 6 h, 3 d and 7 d after paw incision surgery of rats. The rats were intrathecal injected with Gap19 30 min before incision surgery, followed by the measurement of the paw withdrawal threshold to mechanical stimuli at several time points. Immunofluorescence was used to detect the expression of Cx43 and GFAP. ELISA was performed to detect the different inflammatory cytokine levels in rats after surgery. Results Compared with group C, the expression of Cx43 and GFAP of rats increased significantly 6 h after incision surgery in group I, while their expression at postoperative 3 d and 7 d showed no obvious alteration. Compared with the preoperative baseline, the mechanical paw withdrawal threshold in I group and Gap19 group rats was significantly reduced at 2 h, 6 h, 24 h and 3 d post-incision(P<0.01), but it had no obvious change on postoperative 7 d. Compared with group I, the mechanical paw withdrawal threshold in rats of Gap19 group increased 2 h, 6 h, 24 h post-incision, while it showed no statistical difference on 3 d and 7 d post-incision. Compared with group C, immunofluorescence results showed that the expression of GFAP and Cx43 in spinal cord dorsal horn astrocytes also increased significantly in Group I 6 h after incision surgery. Compared with group I, GFAP and the expression of Cx43 were markedly reduced in Gap19 group. There was no statistical difference on 7 d post-incision. Compared with those in group C, the inflammation factors including IL-1β, IL-6 and TNF-αobviously increased in group I. However, in contrary to the rats in group I, the rats pretreated with gap19 showed increased expression of Cx43 and GFAP in spinal cord dorsal horn. Conclusions Specific inhibition of Cx43 hemichannel significantly suppresses astrocyte activation and alters the inflammatory microenvironment in the spinal cord dorsal horn and reduces postoperative hyperalgesia in rats with acute incision pain.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND@#Central nervous system (CNS) symptoms after efavirenz (EFV) treatment in people living with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) could persist and impact their quality of life. We assessed the impact of EFV-based regimen replacement with elvitegravir/cobicistat/emtricitabine/tenofovir alafenamide (E/C/F/TAF), which is considered an alternative option for subjects who do not tolerate EFV. Most specifically, we assessed the safety and the efficacy of E/C/F/TAF and its effects on the participants' neuropsychiatric toxicity symptoms in a real-life setting.@*METHODS@#A prospective cohort study was conducted among virologic suppressed HIV-positive participants receiving EFV-based regimens with ongoing CNS toxicity ≥ grade 2. The participants were switched to single-pill combination regimens E/C/F/TAF and followed up for 48 weeks. The neuropsychiatric toxicity symptoms were measured using a CNS side effects questionnaire, as well as the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index. The primary outcome measure was the proportion of participants experiencing grade 2 or higher CNS toxicity after EFV switch off at weeks 12, 24, and 48. Secondary endpoints included virologic and immunological responses and the effect on fasting lipids at week 48 after switch.@*RESULTS@#One hundred ninety-six participants (96.9% men, median age: 37.5 years, median: 3.7 years on prior EFV-containing regimens) were included in the study. Significant improvements in anxiety and sleep disturbance symptoms were observed at 12, 24, and 48 weeks after switching to E/C/F/TAF (P < 0.05). No significant change in depression symptom scores was observed. At 48 weeks after switch, HIV viral load <50 copies/mL was maintained in all of the participants, median fasting lipid levels were moderately increased (total cholesterol [TC]: 8.2 mg/dL, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol [LDL-C]: 8.5 mg/dL, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol [HDL-C]: 2.9 mg/dL, and triglyceride (TG): 1.6 mg/dL, and the TC:HDL-C ratio remained stable.@*CONCLUSIONS@#The single-pill combination regimens E/C/F/TAF is safe and well tolerated. This study reveals that switching from EFV to E/C/F/TAF significantly reduces neuropsychiatric toxicity symptoms in people living with HIV with grade 2 or higher CNS complaints.

RESUMO

As a clinical syndrome involving multiple systems, plastic bronchitis(PB)raises a widely interest among researchers due to its complex etiology and unclear pathogenesis. It is currently believed that PB is related to bronchial asthma, cystic fibrosis, sickle cell disease and respiratory tract infection. The main characteristic of PB is the formation of dendritic casts in the bronchus, causing local or extensive obstruction, acute dyspnea, even respiratory failure, and death.Besides, the lack of effective management may result in recurrent respiratory infection, seriously affecting children′s quality of life. The disease is rare in pediatrics, and its clinical and imaging manifestations have no specificity, which can easily lead to misdiagnosis and missed diagnosis.Hence, it is extremely important for early diagnosis and timely removal of plastic substances blocking the airway.

RESUMO

Abnormal aggregation of amyloid-β protein (Aβ) in brain plays a vital role in the occurrence of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Hence, inhibiting Aβ aggregation is one major tactic for therapy of AD. Previous studies have found that tolcapone can inhibit Aβ42 aggregation and reduce the cytotoxicity induced by Aβ42 aggregates, but clinical studies have found that tolcapone has strong liver toxicity. To reduce the liver toxicity of tolcapone, its side chain structure was modified to obtain its derivative phenethyl (E)-2-cyano-3-(3,4 dihydroxy-5-nitrobenzene)-acrylate (PCDNA). Thioflavin T (ThT) and atomic force microscopy (AFM) assays were used to explore the inhibitory effect of PCDNA on Aβ42 fibrillogenesis. The cytotoxicity assays were used to explore the inhibitory effect of PCDNA against the cytotoxicity induced by Aβ42 aggregates. In addition, the depolymerization effect of PCDNA on mature Aβ42 fibrils was also explored. Finally, molecular docking was used to explore the interaction between PCDNA and Aβ42 pentamer. These results lay the foundation for the study of the structural analogues of tolcapone as Aβ inhibitors.

Among these patients, 69 (41.6%) were male and 97 (58.4%) were female, with a mean age of 47.0±23.5 years. Thirty-nine cases (23.5%) had received 1 or 2 doses of inactivated vaccine. The incidence of severe COVID-19 cases was 7.7% in 2-doses vaccinated patients, which was lower than that of 11.5% in 1-dose and 26.8% in unvaccinated patients. The proportion of severe cases in 2 dose-vaccinated patients was 7.7%, which was lower than that of 11.5% in 1-dose vaccinated patients and 26.8% in unvaccinated patients, but the difference was not significant ( P>0.05). The most common clinical symptom was fever (134 cases, 83.2%), and 39.1% of cases presented with high-grade fever (≥39 °C); other symptoms were cough, sputum, fatigue, and xerostomia. The proportion of fever in severe cases was significantly higher than that of non-severe cases (97.4% vs. 76.4%, P<0.01). Similarly, the proportion of severe cases with high peak temperature (≥39 ℃) () was also higher than that of non-severe cases (65.8% vs. 30.9%, P<0.01). The median minimal Cycle threshold (Ct) values of viral nucleic acid N gene and ORFlab gene were 20.3 and 21.5, respectively, and the minimum Ct values were 11.9 and 13.5, respectively. Within 48 h of admission, 9.0% of cases presented with decreased white blood cell counts, and 52.4% with decreased lymphocyte counts. The proportions of increased C-reactive protein, serum amyloid A, interleukin 6, and interleukin 10 were 32.5%, 57.4%, 65.3%, and 35.7%, respectively. The proportions of elevated C-reactive protein, serum amyloid A and interleukin-6 in severe cases were significantly higher than those in non-severe cases ( P<0.01). Logistic regression analysis showed that older age and higher peak temperature were associated with a higher likelihood of severe cases ( OR>3, 95% CI: 2-7, P<0.01). In terms of treatment, traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) was used in 97.6% of non-severe cases and 100% in severe cases. Other treatments included respiratory and nutritional support, immunotherapy (such as neutralizing antibodies and plasma of recovered patients). The median times from admission to progression to severe cases, of fever clearance, and of nucleic acid conversion were 5 days, 6 days and 19 days, respectively. No deaths were reported within 28 days. Conclusions:The symptoms of Delta variant infection in Guangzhou are characterized by a high proportion of fever, high peak temperature, long duration of fever, high viral load, a long time to nucleic acid conversion, and a high incidence of severe cases. The severe cases exhibit a higher percentage of elderly patients, a longer duration of fever and have a higher fever rate and a higher hyperthermia rate than non-severe cases. Age and hyperthermia are independent risk factors for progression to severe disease. The combination of TCM and Western medicine can control the progression of the disease effectively.

RESUMO

@#The transcription factor c-Myc regulates the proliferation, differentiation, metabolism and other key processes of normal cells extensively. The unleashed MYC oncogene frequently produces abundant c-Myc protein, which directly regulates the gene expression of key metabolic enzymes, or tumor-related metabolic pathways by inhibiting microRNA, leading to abnormal metabolism characterized by heightened nutrients uptake, enhanced glycolysis and glutaminolysis, and elevated fatty acid and nucleotide synthesis. This paper briefly summarizes how c-Myc regulated metabolism on glycolysis, glutamine metabolism, tricarboxylic acid cycle, lipid metabolism and nucleotide synthesis in cancer cell, which provides some theoretical reference for the development of antitumor targets and drugs involving c-Myc.

RESUMO

To understand the awareness, treatment, and control of hypertension in residents aged 35-75 years in eastern China, analyze the treatment mode for antihypertensive agents while identifying those factors affecting awareness, treatment and control. The data collected in eastern China from the China Patient-Centered Evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events (PEACE) Million Persons Project were used to obtain the information about the awareness, treatment and control of hypertension in the residents and the antihypertensive medication treatment mode in this area. Multilevel mixed-effects model was used to explore the association of the demographic characteristics of hypertension patients with the rates of awareness, treatment and control of hypertension. A total of 640 539 participants aged 35-75 years, mean age (56.9±9.6) years, were included in the analysis, women accounted for 59.7 and 318 741 (49.8) of the participants suffered from hypertension. Among those hypertensive patients, 46.5 were aware of their condition, 38.1 were taking prescribed antihypertensive medications, and 11.1 had achieved the control of hypertension, the differences were significant among provinces, between urban area and rural area and among different demographical groups. Calcium-channel blockers was the most commonly used medication (45.1), and 78 735 hypertension patients (86.2) took only one type of medication. Older age, higher household income, higher level of education, and histories of myocardial infarction, stroke and diabetes were associated with higher awareness, treatment and control of hypertension (<0.05). The rates of awareness, treatment and control of hypertension were low in residents in eastern China. The differences in hypertension management were significant among provinces and between urban area and rural area. Further efforts are needed to enhance the system of hypertension prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment.

RESUMO

Objective::To study the effect of different packaging methods and storage conditions on the quality of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces, in order to determine the optimal packaging method and suitable storage conditions for Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces. Method::Different packaged Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces were stored in different environments in a one-year long-term stability experiment. The appearance, water content, extract content and volatile oil content of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces were regularly observed. Result::During the 1-year storage period, the Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces under different packaging and storage conditions showed different degrees of quality changes. Among them, the samples packed in polyethylene plastic bags and polyethylene aluminum foil composite bags were better preserved. The fluctuations in water content of the sample packed in polyethylene plastic bags were relatively low, and the RSD value of water content during the month was less than 11.5%. The extracts and volatile oil contents of each sample were reduced to different degree, but the samples packed in plastic sealed bags and protected from light had the smallest annual loss of extracts (1.27%), with the lowest monthly loss rate of volatile oil (0.08%). Conclusion::The quality of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces can be well preserved in plastic sealed bags and storage in dark and cool conditions, which is suitable for the storage of Notopterygii Rhizoma et Radix pieces.
