RESUMO
Introducción: el uso de indicadores bibliométricos permite analizar la actividad investigadora y resulta vital que se evalúe la calidad de lo que se publica. Los autores de este trabajo dieron continuidad a estudios realizados anteriormente en Médica Electrónica. Objetivo: cuantificar los artículos publicados, teniendo en cuenta la tipología y procedencia, para valorar el comportamiento de la publicación científica de la Revista Médica Electrónica en el período 2012 -2014. Materiales y métodos: estudio bibliométrico de tipo descriptivo, con análisis temporal y carácter retrospectivo. Se estudiaron las variables: año de publicación, tipología de artículos, municipios, provincia y país de procedencia de los artículos. Resultados: se analizaron 18 números, publicados durante los tres años, con un total de 252 artículos, y un suplemento, con 11 trabajos. El municipio Matanzas fue el que más publicaciones tuvo. Persisten varios municipios de la provincia que no publican. Durante los tres años estudiados hay 26 artículos de instituciones de otras provincias, y 2 de otros países.
Background: the usage of bibliometric indicators allows analyzing the research activity and is vital the quality assessment of the published works. The authors of this article continued previous studies carried out in Médica Electrónica. Aim: to quantify the published articles, taking into account their typology and recedence, to assess the scientific content of Revista Médica Electrónica in the period 2012-2014. Materials and methods: descriptive-kind bibliometric study, with temporal analysis and retrospective character. We studied the following variables: year of publishing, articles typology, municipality, province and country of the article precedence. Outcomes: we analyzed 18 issues, published during the three studied years, for a total of 252 articles, and a supplement of 11 articles. Matanzas municipality was the one with more publications. There are still several municipalities of the province where nobody has published. During the three studied years, there are 26 articles from other provinces, and 2 from other countries.
RESUMO
Las revistas médicas son, por excelencia, la vía existente para que los expertos en las ramas de la salud puedan divulgar y diseminar los resultados de sus investigaciones. La Revista Médica Electrónica es el órgano oficial donde los profesionales de la provincia de Matanzas pueden publicar los resultados de sus investigaciones. Con el objetivo de evaluar los indicadores de la actividad científica en los años 2010 y 2011 en dicha revista, y comparar los resultados con un estudio similar realizado anteriormente, se realizó una investigación descriptiva analítica con carácter retrospectivo. La población objeto de estudio fueron todos los artículos publicados en la revista durante los años anteriormente mencionados. Se totalizaron los artículos publicados por año y la tipología de cada uno de ellos, buscando especialidad, filiación y lugar de procedencia de cada autor principal. Se publicaron un total de 223 artículos, existiendo un equilibrio entre los distintos tipos de artículos. El municipio con más publicaciones fue el de Matanzas y 5 municipios no reportaron publicaciones. La especialidad con más trabajos publicados fue la de Medicina General Integral. Aunque el número de trabajos publicados con respecto a los años anteriores es superior, se debe trabajar para potenciar la producción científica de todos los municipios de la provincia, siendo necesaria una mayor capacitación y motivación, orientadas a formar una cultura de publicación en todos los profesionales de todas las especialidades. Se recomienda realizar en el futuro estudios similares para valorar la calidad y productividad de la Revista Médica Electrónica.
The medical journals are, per excellence, the existent way for the experts in health branches to divulgate and disseminate the results of their investigations. The Revista Médica Electrónica is the official organ where the professionals of the province of Matanzas can publish the results of their investigations. With the objective of evaluating the indicators of the scientific activity in the years 2010 and 2011 in this journal, and comparing the results with a similar study previously developed, we made an analytic descriptive investigation with retrospective character. The studied population were all the articles published in the journal in the before-mentioned years. We found the total of the articles published per year and the typology of each one of them, looking for the specialty, filiation and place of origin of each main author. There were published 223 articles and there was a balance among the different kind of articles. The municipality with more publications was the municipality of Matanzas, and 5 municipalities do not reported publications. The specialty with more published works was the specialty of Integral General Medicine. Although the number of published works is higher with respect to the previous years, we should work to raise the scientific production in all the municipalities of the province, being necessary a bigger training and motivation, orientated to form a culture of publication in all the professionals of all the specialties. We recommend to develop similar studies in the future to asses the quality and productiveness of the Revista Médica Electrónica.
RESUMO
El objetivo del trabajo fue describir la Revista Médica Electrónica, de Matanzas, realizando un estudio de los artículos publicados entre los años 2003 y 2009. Se analizaron 531 trabajos, obteniendo información sobre la cantidad de artículos publicados por años analizados, el promedio de artículos en cada número de la revista, la especialidad del primer autor, la cantidad de docentes de las especialidades médicas, el motivo de la publicación, los municipios e instituciones de salud donde se realizaron las investigaciones, y el por ciento de artículos publicados por municipios e instituciones de salud. Se registró un promedio de 75 artículos por año y 12,6 artículos por número de la revista. Las especialidades más representadas de los principales autores fueron: Cirugía General, Microbiología, Neurocirugía, Ortodoncia, Ortopedia y Traumatología, Cardiología, Gastroenterología, Embriología Médica, Inmunología, Medicina Natural Tradicional, Pediatría y Radiología. Por su parte, se constató que fue bajo el por ciento de los docentes que publicaron. Asimismo, predominó el interés personal como el motivo de la publicación. Matanzas, Cárdenas, Colón y Varadero fueron los municipios que más han contribuido. Se comprobó que las instituciones que más aportaron fueron la Universidad de Ciencias Médicas Dr. Juan Guiteras Gener, de Matanzas, así como los hospitales de la provincia.
The aim of our study was describing Revista Médica Electrónica, of Matanzas, reviewing the articles published between 2003 and 2009. 531 articles were analyzed, obtaining information on the quantity of published articles per analyzed years, the average of articles published in each number of the journal, the specialty of the first author, the quantity of the docents of each medical specialty, the motivation of the publication, municipalities and health institutions where investigations were developed, and percent of published articles per municipalities and health institutions. We recorded an average of 75 articles per year and 12,6 articles per number. The most representative specialties of the main authors were: General Surgery, Microbiology, Neurosurgery, Orthodontics, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Embryology, Immunology, Traditional Natural Medicine, Pediatrics and Radiology. We stated that a low percent of docents published their work. We also stated that there was a predominance of personal interests as motivation of the publication. Matanzas, Cardenas, Colon and Varadero were the municipalities with more contributions. It was also stated that the institutions with more articles published were the Medical Sciences University Dr. Juan Guiteras Gener and the hospitals of the province.
