RESUMO

There is no certain result in the field of industrial pharmacy approaching to find effective drugs in prevention and treatment of atherosclerosis, like the control of lipid factors that are a major risk factors of atherosclerosis. Also the tendency of people to use herbal medicine is increasing. In this study effect of Gundelia tourenfortii L. on some cardiovascular risk factors in animal model assigned by analysis of biochemical factors. Twenty male rabbits were randomly divided in to 4 groups as: Normal diet, Normal diet supplemented with Gundelia tourenfortii L., high cholesterol diet, and high cholesterol diet supplemented with Gundelia tourenfortii L. Fasting Blood samples were taken at the first and end of the study. Gundelia tourenfortii L. decrease the cholesterol, triglyceride, LDL - cholesterol, VLDL-Cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, oxidized LDL and factor VII. Also increase the level of HDL-Cholesterol and apolipoprotein A comparing to high cholesterol diet. Gundelia tourenfortii L. by decreasing lipid, lipoproteins and some cardiovascular new risk factors like apolipoprotein B, Oxidized-LDL and coagulation factor decrease atherosclerosis

RESUMO

Hyperinsulinemia is related to obesity, diabetes and hypertension, but its relation to coronary artery disease, as an independent risk factor, is questionable. This study was conducted to compare the insulin level in patients with acute coronary and non coronary diseases. This is a cross-sectional study in which two groups of hospitalized patients in emergency department, 32 patients in each group [acute coronary and non coronary disease] were evaluated for fasting insulin level. Diabetes or a family history of it, previous history of coronary artery disease or family history of it, pancreatic origin of abdominal pain, hypertension, overweight or obesity, or using steroids were exclusion criteria for this study. Collected data were analyzed using Mann-Withney test. There was not any statistical difference in age and sex of both groups. No significant difference was noted in insulin level of coronary and non coronary patients in this study. Having these results, we can not include hyperinsulinemia as an independent risk factor for CVD

RESUMO

fibrinolytic agents like streptokinase [SK] and urokinase [UK] are urgent treatment of thromboembolism. Besides thrombolysis, these medications have side effect like: generalized lytic state, serum fibrinogen decrease, effect on body hemostasis and life threatening bleedings, allergic reaction and urticaria. Studies have shown that some patients don't response to SK, for example patients that have used SK one or two times or patients with streptococcal disease. In this study, we studied the fibrinolytic activity of Amirkabiria odoratissima mozaffarian to find the natural compounds that can be used in treatment of thromboembolism. Polyphenolic extract and the essential oil were prepared. Then essential oil was analyzed by G C. Mass. Fibrinolytic effects of SK [as positive control and comparison], extract and essential oil of Amirkabiria odoratissima mozaffarian was studied by flourimetric method. At first fibrinogen was labeled with FITC [Flourescein Isothiocyanate] and then labeled thrombus was produced in plasma with calcium ion. Then SK [100-1000 unit/ml] and essential oil at V/V dilutions of [1/1, 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000] and extract [1/1, 1/10, 1/100, 1/1000] was added and after 15, 30, 60 min, fluorescence was measured. Results showed linear relationship between fluorescence and SK concentration between 300-700 unit/?l. Essential oil of Amirkabiria odoratissima mozaffarian was effective in thrombolytic agent. Results has shown that Amirkabiria odoratissima mozaffarian extract has considerable fibrinolytic effects. So, study of different fractions of this plant extract and isolation and purification of the active fibrinolytic component is recommended

RESUMO

One of the major role of liver is metabolism of xenobiotics and detoxification. But sometimes during metabolism of xenobiotics produce active and more toxic agents which cause liver damage and disease. Use of nature products from vegetables. In the treatment of diseases and liver diseases have a long history, especially in Eastern medicine in this study we have investigate the protective effects of polyphenolic extracts of Silybum marianum and Cichorium intybus. Liver damage induced with hepatotoxin, thioacethamide. Extracts was injected every day for a duration of 3 days, to rats, at a doses of 25 mmg/kg body weight together with thioacetamide at a doses of 50 mg/kg body weight. In order to investigate the hepatoprotective effect of extracts against thioacetamide activities of serum aminotrasferases [SGOT and SGPT], alkalline Pbosphatase bilirubin, Na[+] and K[+] were measured.Activities of serum aminotrasferases [SGOT and SGPT], alkaline phosphatase and bilirubin were decreased significantly to rats treated with extracts compared to thioacetamide group. The results showed potent protective effects of these extracts against the thioacetamide induced hepatotoxicity that are due to antioxidant effect of polyphenolic compound
