RESUMO
La presente investigación se ha realizado con el fin de aportar nuevos elementos a la práctica odontológica en cuanto al manejo, tanto psicológico como fisiológico, de los pacientes en lo que respecta a la ansiedad y el dolor que estos presentan ante un tratamiento dental. Esta investigación fue realizada con la colaboración de cuatro odontólogos hipnólogos de El Salvador en sus clínicas privadas, los cuales utilizan la hipnosis como medida alternativa para controlar la ansiedad y el dolor en los pacientes, con el objetivo de conocer la manera en que ésta es aplicada y la efectividad que para manejar al paciente y realizar los procedimientos odontológicos. Dicho trabajo se divide en cuatro fases, Fase I: En donde se determinan los elementos de diagnostico, se justifica la importancia de aplicar métodos alternativos para producir relajación, analgesia y anestesia en los pacientes. Se establecen el objetivo general de la investigación a lograr al finalizar ésta y los objetivos específicos para alcanzarlo. Por otro lado en los alcances se expone la población en estudio, la variable general, y la profundidad de la investigación y en las limitaciones, aquello factores que entorpecieron el desarrollo de la misma. Se establecen también las variables e indicadores que servirán de guía para la formulación de los instrumentos de recopilación de datos, las unidades de análisis, el objeto de transformación y la definición real de términos básicos para una mejor comprensión del contenido del presente trabajo. Fase II: El marco de referencia que consta de dos apartados, los antecedentes, donde se da a conocer la historia y evolución de la hipnosis y los investigadores que mayores aportes científicos le han brindado; y la discusión bibliográfica en donde se exponen los diferentes planteamientos teóricos que la sustentas, las técnicas utilizadas y sus principales usos en odontología, los procedimientos odontológicos que se pueden efectuar de acuerdo a cada nivel de trance hipnótico, la efectividad para controlar la ansiedad y el dolor en los pacientes, las manifestaciones y sensaciones que estos presentan bajo los efectos hipnóticos y los factores que influyen en la susceptibilidad hipnótica. Fase III: Es donde se plantea la metodología, en la cual se define el tipo de investigación, la población en estudio y la forma en que esta seleccionó. Se describen también las técnicas e instrumentos que se utilizaron para recopilar la información, la forma en que se aplicaron y luego se hace una descripción del proceso de tabulación de los datos y el método que se utilizó para analizarlos. Fase IV: En donde se exponen los resultados del diagnostico el cual contiene los cuadros estadísticos con sus respectivas interpretaciones de los resultados obtenidos a través de los instrumentos también se hace un análisis general de la problemática en estudio en donde se contrastan los resultados obtenidos con la opinión y experiencia de los autores consultados. Asimismo, se establecen en este apartado las conclusiones específicas y generales a las cuales se llegó luego del análisis general y se plantean recomendaciones a los estudiantes, docentes e instituciones relacionados a la profesión odontológica.
The present investigation has been carried out in order to contribute new elements to dental practice in terms of the management, both psychological and physiological, of patients with regard to anxiety and pain that they present before dental treatment. This research was carried out with the collaboration of four hypnotic dentists from El Salvador in their private clinics, who use hypnosis as an alternative measure to control anxiety and pain in patients, with the aim of knowing how it is applied and the effectiveness of managing the patient and performing dental procedures. This work is divided into four phases, Phase I: Where the diagnostic elements are determined, the importance of applying alternative methods to produce relaxation, analgesia and anesthesia in patients is justified. The general objective of the research to be achieved at the end of this and the specific objectives to achieve it are established. On the other hand, in the scope, the population under study, the general variable, and the depth of the research and in the limitations, those factors that hindered its development are exposed. The variables and indicators that will serve as a guide for the formulation of the data collection instruments, the units of analysis, the object of transformation and the real definition of basic terms are also established for a better understanding of the content of this work. Phase II: The frame of reference that consists of two sections, the antecedents, where the history and evolution of hypnosis and the researchers who have given the greatest scientific contributions are made known; and the bibliographic discussion where the different theoretical approaches that support it are exposed, the techniques used and their main uses in dentistry, the dental procedures that can be performed according to each level of hypnotic trance, the effectiveness to control anxiety and pain in patients, the manifestations and sensations that they present under hypnotic effects and the factors that influence hypnotic susceptibility. Phase III: It is where the methodology is proposed, in which the type of research, the population under study and the way in which it was selected are defined. The techniques and instruments used to collect the information, the way they were applied, and then a description of the data tabulation process and the method used to analyze them is also described. Phase IV: Where the results of the diagnosis are exposed, which contains the statistical tables with their respective interpretations of the results obtained through the instruments, a general analysis of the problem under study is also made, where the results obtained are contrasted with the opinion and experience of the authors consulted. Likewise, this section establishes the specific and general conclusions that were reached after the general analysis and recommendations are made to students, teachers and institutions related to the dental profession.
